Laurie B. Short Sleeve Sweaters

March 11th, 2010 - Written by Tiffany

Whoever thought sweaters were out for spring was certainly wrong!!!  Short sleeved sweaters are a perfect must have for this time of year.  Especially on those days that seem to be warm, but could easily turn cooler.  This time of year I find is perfect for short sleeved knitwear.

Laurie ‘B.’s Puffsleeve Cardigan Sweater is one of my must have cardigans.  I love how this cardigan sweater snaps closed for one kind of look, but can also be worn unsnapped as a cardigan.  The puff sleeves and pocket detail sets this cardigan sweater apart from any of your friends clothing.  Available in Grey or Black this sweater is perfect for layering this spring.

2010 Oscar trend: Sparkle!

March 8th, 2010 - Written by Deveney

Last night the Oscars were filled with fashionable guys and gals, some took risks while others played it safe. I was loving all of the beautiful, over the top, sparkle that seemed to be everywhere. If I ever attend a red carpet event, I will for sure be in head to toe sparkle. Check out some of these leading ladies and their sparkle style. Cameron Diaz looked stunning in her Oscar De La Renta Gown, the gold tone and sparkle really highlighted her blonde hair and skin tone. Style bonus: the kick of red in her lipstick gives this classy dress a little color, love it!

Who could miss Sandra Bullock, again going with an all out sparkle of a gown. I love the column shape, silver tone and beautifully detailed floral bodice. She looked perfect! Are you noticing a trend here?? Again with the sparkle gown and again with the pop of color on the lips, it is a winning combination. {You could totally do this on a day to day basis: sparkle cami, basic cardigan and red lips are perfect for any outing!}

Lastly, and I know this choice i s a bit unorthodox, but I absolutely loved Zoe Saldana in her crazy, over the top Givenchy gown. The beaded bodice is heavenly, I love the effect of the purple in different tones and the volume at the bottom all scream look at me! She is getting a mix of reviews, but I stand on the positive side, where and when else can you go so bold?? The Oscar’s is perfect for this statement dress and the placement of the sparkle is perfect, bringing our eyes up to see her best asset: that gorgeous face of hers!

Whether it’s chartreuse, jade, emerald, or lime, green seems to be my favorite color for spring.

This tunic dress designed by Velvet is a great choice for spring. Pair it with legging, jeans or wear it as a dress and you have an adorable look for spring.  This green color also pairs perfectly with blue, denim, red, or yellow so don’t be afraid to spotlight more than one color this spring.

Another great spring versatile dress that can be ‘winterized’ with boots and a jacket, or ’summerized’ with sandals and sunglasses!

Looking chic in wet weather

March 1st, 2010 - Written by Deveney

Being fashionable is a full time job, and rain, snow, and storms can not stand in your way. Normally I don’t have to deal with much weather, but even I have been subjected to some rather wet days{gasp! In San Diego??} as of late. So rather then let the gray skies bring us down, I say lets celebrate the opportunity to look oh so chic in jackets and boots! Every gal needs a pair of wellies, perfect for pulling over jeans or for the more brave, rocking with tall socks and skirts. They are comfortable, functional and of course available in all types of yummy colors and practically every price point. I love Hunter brand boots, and this pink fuchsia color is perfect for adding some cheer to a raining day.{or a sunny day for that matter!}

Ok, now that your feet are covered lets move onto the oh so important jacket. Trench coats are perfect for pulling together an outfit and giving coverage and warmth without adding bulk. These versatile jackets have been around for ages and are therefore available in just about every color, pattern and price point available. If you are wanting to try something a bit more trendy with the pattern, try this Merona Striped Long Trench which is right on with the nautical trend for spring. I love the cheery yellow and crisp white contrast, and it is a total steal!

Lastly, check out this beauty of a jacket, the Zooey Heavy Fleece Coat. The jacket is full of details, adding loads of fringe and style! The hood is perfect for protecting your coiffure, the big buttons, flared sleeves, and drop waist all add to the awesomeness that is this jacket. This would be perfect with skinny jeans and wellies!

Sweet Pea Designs by Staci Frati

Sweet Pea Sleeveless Front Tie Tank

Sweet Pea's Sleeveless Front Tie Tank

Life is sweet for Sweet Pea’s designer and brainchild Stacy Frati.  This Miami based designer launched her first mesh top over 10 years ago because she felt “there was a void in the market for something very beautiful that could just be a day-into-night style blouse.” Few knew then that Staci’s nylon mesh line she titled “Sweet Pea” would become a landmark of feminine vintage-inspired clothing that could “fly by night”.

At Vintage Fringe we love how Sweet Pea designs can be worn not only in the boardroom with a suit but also on the beach with sandals.  Sweet Pea has also crafted its own niche with very feminine and flirty prints and designs that also have that Miami-inspired bohemian vibe as well.  The center of Sweet Pea’s trademark look is the nylon mesh fabric that transcends seasons as well as easily slipping from day to night.  At Vintage Fringe we love Sweet Pea for it’s bold colors and vibrant prints.  Pick your Sweet Pea designs at Vintage Fringe and get in gear for spring.

Spring things to try and love!{part 2}

February 24th, 2010 - Written by Deveney

The number three spring thing to try and love is a caged shoe. We are still seeing straps, straps and more straps on anything from a flat, to wedge, to a heel, to a bootie. Caged shoes instantly add some fringe to your look, and are a quick way to update any outfit. I am a sucker for a metallic shoe, metallic is neutral and goes with everything but has more pizazz then black or brown, love that. Check out these KORS Michael Kors ‘Paris’ Sandal, gorgeous right?? Picture them with a maxi dress, a short dress, boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, they would look great with everything. If you haven’t tried a caged shoe, spring is the time to do it!

And lastly, the number four spring thing to try and love is….{drum roll please!}… color! Say goodbye to all the black and brown “staples” in your wardrobe and pick up some colorful staples that are sure to make you look younger and more vibrant! The right colors can do wonders for your skin tone and usually make you feel happier, everyone looks good in some shade of pink and blue. So, if you are new to color try one of those. And remember, it doesn’t have to head to toe red, it could just be a scarf, or shoes, or a tank under your jacket or sweater. Speaking of tanks, look are this beautiful, colorful Criss Cross Tank from Sweet Pea.

The empire waist is ultra flattering and the colors are beautiful, but not to too over the top. Pair this with carpi’s, walking shorts, over jeans, or even use it as a swim cover-up this summer. Be bold, be brave, and work these spring things to try and love. You won’t regret it!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Trends

February 23rd, 2010 - Written by Tiffany

Fashion Trends were not hard to spot last week in New York at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  New York’s Bryant Park hosted the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week for the last time.  The every popular semi-annual fashion event will now move to Lincoln Center starting with September 2010.  As usual Hollywood’s royalty found front row tickets to admire the couture fashions and be seen and heard.  From my observance there were three major trends to this past week’s events: texture, color, and celebrity.

Texture

From fur to textured material to knitwear texture was all over the place last week.

Color

While black and grey are always the most popular colors some other colors made their mark: orange, red and purple notably

Celebrities:

As always Celebs and other Hollywood types flock to New York to take in the couture and get photographed while doing it.  At many shows it was young hollywood versus old hollywood.  Which celebrity do you think looked the most fashionable at fashion week?

Spring things to try and love!{part one}

February 22nd, 2010 - Written by Deveney

Fashion and beauty trends cycle with the seasons, and with spring, like the earth, we get fresh, new, and cheery things. If you, like most women, are looking to stay so to speak, current, with the trends in fashion and beauty, then please consider trying {and I promise you will love!} these four things which can bring to you a fresh, clean start for spring and a newness to your look. The first spring thing to try and love is a wide belt. This trend has been going strong and with spring we find belts with awesome color and detail that are sure to jazz up any outfit. Wide belts do wonders for your figure and are a great way to update a look without having to buy a whole new wardrobe, the best part being that they are available at every price point. One of my favorite wide belts for spring is this Blooming in Burgundy Belt from Anthropologie. Beautiful color, gorgeous detail, what more do you want??

Number two spring thing to try and love: vibrating mascara. Several different make up lines carry these now and they are fantastic! Mimicking the motion that make up artists have been doing for years to get better coverage and more mascara on the eyelashes, vibrating mascara really adds some drama to your eyes. If you have a brand you love, try theirs, if you don’t want to spend a bunch of cash, try Maybelline’s Pulse Perfect Mascara. From what I can tell, works just as good {if not better} then the department store brands and is a steal at under $10.

Stay tuned for the last two spring things to try and love, coming later this week! Do you have a fashion or beauty thing that you have recently tried and loved?? Tell me about it!
