2010 Oscar trend: Sparkle!

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Last night the Oscars were filled with fashionable guys and gals, some took risks while others played it safe. I was loving all of the beautiful, over the top, sparkle that seemed to be everywhere. If I ever attend a red carpet event, I will for sure be in head to toe sparkle. Check out some of these leading ladies and their sparkle style. Cameron Diaz looked stunning in her Oscar De La Renta Gown, the gold tone and sparkle really highlighted her blonde hair and skin tone. Style bonus: the kick of red in her lipstick gives this classy dress a little color, love it!

Who could miss Sandra Bullock, again going with an all out sparkle of a gown. I love the column shape, silver tone and beautifully detailed floral bodice. She looked perfect! Are you noticing a trend here?? Again with the sparkle gown and again with the pop of color on the lips, it is a winning combination. {You could totally do this on a day to day basis: sparkle cami, basic cardigan and red lips are perfect for any outing!}

Lastly, and I know this choice i s a bit unorthodox, but I absolutely loved Zoe Saldana in her crazy, over the top Givenchy gown. The beaded bodice is heavenly, I love the effect of the purple in different tones and the volume at the bottom all scream look at me! She is getting a mix of reviews, but I stand on the positive side, where and when else can you go so bold?? The Oscar’s is perfect for this statement dress and the placement of the sparkle is perfect, bringing our eyes up to see her best asset: that gorgeous face of hers!

Go Green for Spring

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Whether it’s chartreuse, jade, emerald, or lime, green seems to be my favorite color for spring.

This tunic dress designed by Velvet is a great choice for spring. Pair it with legging, jeans or wear it as a dress and you have an adorable look for spring.  This green color also pairs perfectly with blue, denim, red, or yellow so don’t be afraid to spotlight more than one color this spring.

This long sleeve top made of the softest supima cotton  is so versatile you can really pair it with anything.  I love to wear it buttoned down with a cami underneath.  I love how Splendid designed this top with a layering effect that makes this shirt unique from any other long sleeve shirt you have in your closet.

This boatneck top is one of my favorite tops in my closet right now.  I love how Velvet found the perfect shade of green that looks great with every color.  Seen here accesorized with a yellow belt, I wear this top with a red belt,dark jeans, and red shoes.  I have often worn this shirt with a long sleeve underneath and it still looks adorable.  Grab this top and  any of the other green tops I’ve featured at:   VintageFringe.com

Little Spring Dresses

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Sunshine, blue skies, flowers, and spring dresses! Welcome to March! With warmer weather on the horizon, I am drawn to cute little dresses that just be thrown on. These dresses look good with boots, cardigans, or over a swimsuit whatever your weather might be. This Splendid Modal Jersey V Neckdress is perfect for spring and is very versatile, belts, necklaces, sweaters, jackets, boots and sandals can all change this dress and make it a work horse for your closet.

One other dress that I love, is this Velvet by Graham and Spencer Olka 3/4 Sleeve Dress. The neutral brown color would look great with a pop of color accessories like pink, blue, or maybe even some animal print! Another great spring versatile dress that can be ‘winterized’ with boots and a jacket, or ‘summerized’ with sandals and sunglasses!

Looking chic in wet weather

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Being fashionable is a full time job, and rain, snow, and storms can not stand in your way. Normally I don’t have to deal with much weather, but even I have been subjected to some rather wet days{gasp! In San Diego??} as of late. So rather then let the gray skies bring us down, I say lets celebrate the opportunity to look oh so chic in jackets and boots! Every gal needs a pair of wellies, perfect for pulling over jeans or for the more brave, rocking with tall socks and skirts. They are comfortable, functional and of course available in all types of yummy colors and practically every price point. I love Hunter brand boots, and this pink fuchsia color is perfect for adding some cheer to a raining day.{or a sunny day for that matter!}

Ok, now that your feet are covered lets move onto the oh so important jacket. Trench coats are perfect for pulling together an outfit and giving coverage and warmth without adding bulk. These versatile jackets have been around for ages and are therefore available in just about every color, pattern and price point available. If you are wanting to try something a bit more trendy with the pattern, try this Merona Striped Long Trench which is right on with the nautical trend for spring. I love the cheery yellow and crisp white contrast, and it is a total steal!

Lastly, check out this beauty of a jacket, the Zooey Heavy Fleece Coat. The jacket is full of details, adding loads of fringe and style! The hood is perfect for protecting your coiffure, the big buttons, flared sleeves, and drop waist all add to the awesomeness that is this jacket. This would be perfect with skinny jeans and wellies!
