Fabulous New Looks from Sweet Pea

I have always been a fan of Sweet Pea Clothing, the light weight chic designs are perfect for summer. Vintage Fringe has some great fashionable items from them and I just have to share them. First, is this perfect for every body type little black Wrap Dress. I love the faux wrap design, and the deep v neck is elongating and therefore flattering. Black is the perfect backdrop for all types of bright and bold summer accessories, go nuts with shoes, bags, bangles, necklaces and this dress can look different every time you wear it!

Ok, so this next top has two things that the dress above has as well, a faux wrap and a v-neck. When something works, stick with it! The Surplice with Flower Top is ultra flattering and the flower detail is oh so cute! The would be perfect with jeans, skirts, shorts, just about anything and again the basic color is a great bast for fun and funky accessories.

Chic Summer Hair

Summer hair can usually be tricky, the heat, the playing in the water, and etc can all make it difficult to have good summer hair. Here are a few styles that are sure to look good and hopefully keep you feeling a little cooler as well. The first look that is great for summer 2010, it this loose low chignon that Lauren Conrad is sporting. Lauren has always been{at least in my mind} on point with her fashion, beauty and hair and this look is no different.

Braids are another great way to do your hair in warmer weather. Just about anything goes these days with braids, you can do it to the side, french braid, pigtail braid, or of course the braid across the forehead. Here is another lady with great hair, Jessica Simpsonwith a french braid up-do.

Lastly, for summer hair that is gorgeous and quick, don’t fight your natural texture. Hair strait from the beach and pool can be so chic with some scrunch spray and an air dry. Just look at Jennifer Aniston, a simple bobby pin and her beachy waves look great.

Don’t let the weather hold you back from looking so chic and pretty! What is your favorite summer hair look?? I love natural texture, too bad my hair is board strait!

Sweet {and a bit sassy} Summer Dresses

So, its official, its the middle of June and it is summer. I for one, love the cool, stylish, and comfortable look of dresses and skirts. For me, they can be way more comfortable, and so easy to through on the go. Not to mention that they can go from beach, to dinner, to errands so effortlessly with a change of shoes and accessories. Ella Moss makes gorgeous dresses, and I especially love the detail on the Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress.

Ok, so forgive me for another black dress, but I am just loving the basic black with detail dresses. Also, this dress does come in brown and in case you haven’t heard, brown is super in this summer. Just check out your local MAC counter to see all the new nude and brown make-up. Don’t you love the back of this Modal Jersey Scoop Neck Dress by Splendid, so cute right?? The length is perfect and the cut is comfortable, yet sexy.

So here is some color for you, I love the cheery sunshine yellow and the gray details of the Blaire Widesleeve Crew Dress by Ella Moss.I think it would look fabulous with teal and gold accessories. This dress is super easy to just throw on and be ready, it would be great with wedges or flats and also comes in a great navy blue that is dead on with the nautical trend.

Are your favorite summer dresses long or short?? Black or color?? I like a mix of everything!

Summer Nail Trends

Nail polish trends change as much as fashion trends and this summer it looks as though the nail trends will be following the fashion trends with bold, bright colors and lots of patterns and prints. It might seem strange to have pattern and prints on your nails, but it can be very chic and fun way to add some extra fringe to your look. I especially like it for special occasions.

Mary-Kate Olsen has been a style icon for some time now and her hot pink nails are right on point. I love that she is wearing such and understated outfit with a bright pop of pink nails, looks so chic and fresh.

Now onto the pattern and print part, celebrities like Beyonce and Katy Perry have been spotted with Minx nails. Minx are super awesome, long lasting nail patches{kind of like a hard core sticker} thathave only been available at select salons at a rather high price compared to a regular manicure. Well, be excited ladies because Sephora, OPI and Minx have collaborated to make at home kits that will only cost you $15! Awesome right?? The Chic Prints for Nails are available in eight different patterns and will work for toes or fingers. So have fun with your nails this summer, be bold, be bright, be patterned!

Celeb Fashion at the MTV Movie Awards

This week was the MTV Movie Awards and although it is clearly no Oscars, it is fun to see what the celebrities are wearing this summer. This awards show is more casual and most celebs opted for shorter dresses. {Although a few rocked the still alive and kicking maxi dress trend} Here are a few of my favorites:

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson is looking super chic in this green lace and black belt dress. I love the cut and length of this dress, it is sexy without being too overt. I think that I have mentioned before how big green was/still is in fashion.

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel looks fabulous in this outfit; I am loving all the different textures used and the basic colors with a pop of pale pink. Jessica has always been stylish and this is another great choice in my mind, it really accentuates her waist and looks like it would be very fun to wear. I think you could easily achieve a similiar look with a sheer shirt over a cami, tucked into one of those ruffle skirts that seem to be everywhere with a bow belt on top. It might not be quite as dramatic but it would look great for grocery shopping and lunch with the ladies!

Nicky Hilton

Nicky Hilton

Nicky Hilton‘s causal dress was perfect for summer with its teal, gray and cream stripes. Again, stripes are everywhere, even at awards shows! What are your favorite celebrity looks??

Summer Shoe Trend: Embellished Flat Sandals

Any fashionista knows that shoes can make or break your look and I think this rule especially applies in summer when shorts and skirtsmake the shoes even more visible and therefore more important. This summer to stay cool and chic no matter what your day calls for, try some embellished flat sandals on. There are so many different looks and styles to choose from, there is bound to be something that you adore! Here are some of my favorite styles, starting with the Rush of Gold Sandals from Anthropologie. I love the neutral color with all the beautiful embellishment and the slight heel will be super comfortable as well as provide a bit more height.{Which is always good, hello we want long looking legs!}

I have also been loving the look of cuff sandals and this Star Gazing Sandal by Poetic Licence is cuffed and super fun. Although the star studs could be seen as juvinille, I think that they could be oh so chic when paired with the right outfit. The distressed gray color is perfect to down play bright summer fashions and not quite as stark as a dark black looks up against the leg.

Lastly, if stones and stars aren’t for you how about flowers?? I just adore the Guirlande Sandal once again found at Anthropologie. The light brown is the perfect summer neutral and the cascading of flowers is oh so pretty making this sandal sturdy and dainty at the same time.

So what do you think, are you for or against embellished sandals?
