Fashion Boutique Online

Shopping for fashion online is becoming far more popular and common.  We all know how alluring the traditional clothing boutique can be.  If you had to plan your favorite shopping experience many of those days would be spent shopping at a variety of great fashion boutiques finding distinctive pieces for your wardrobe.  For those of us who struggle to enough time to make that dream a reality, the boutique shopping experience can more easily be found at a website near you.

In fact, we started Vintage Fringe to meet this exact need.  We wanted to bring the perks of boutique shopping online and make it far more convenient.  Like many of you, we were tired of buying a top at a chain store only to see many of our friends wearing the same thing.  For example, last summer I attended a wedding and one of the other bridesmaids was wearing an identical denim jacket from the same chain store!  Disgusted with this type of trend, we decided to open an online boutique that provides many of the same boutique benefits with far less of the hassle.

In case you are new to shopping for fashion online or a little leery, consider the following reasons why finding a great fashion boutique online can be much easier.  It goes without saying that shopping at an online boutique is far more convenient.  You can shop on your hours, not the store’s. (And let’s face it-boutiques are notorious for having inconvenient hours.)  You don’t have to fight or even pay for parking.  You can shop at home in your pajamas.  You can shop at work or at home and frankly sometimes even on your iPad or cell phone.  You can more easily locate niche items online if you know exactly what you want.  At Vintage Fringe, we even offer free shipping and free returns on all non-outlet items, and yes we even have an outlet featuring major fashion bargains.  We also can’t forget that when you shop online you don’t have to worry about those annoying sales people bothering you as you shop!

One of the best reasons for boutique shipping is that boutiques make it easier to find niche and distinctive fashion pieces.  Shopping at online fashion boutiques is no exception.  You can frequently find great boutiques with a variety of niche designers you won’t find everywhere online.  One of the best ways to search online for such niche items is to just google the name of the designer and see what is out there.  Online boutiques like traditional boutiques often offer you harder to find designers and do not carry as much inventory as larger stores so you are frequently much more able to find a distinctive, individual look for yourself.

Shopping online allows you to compare multiple sites with far less work than shopping at boutiques in person.  There are many sites online that allow you to search a variety of different sites based on specific things like designers, colors, sizes, or even descriptions of the styles.  This ability to comparison shop in a far more convenient way will make shopping far more efficient than bouncing from boutique to boutique.  Boutiques.com is one such site that features the ability for you to bookmark your favorite pieces in your own boutique.

Once you discover online boutique shopping you will quickly find that it is much simpler and far more convenient than the dedication and time required to complete your own boutique shopping scavenger hunt and will hopefully become your first stop for fashion shopping in the future.

Shopping for Fashion Online

Online shopping is becoming more and more common for a variety of items and shopping for fashion online is no exception.  If you’re new to the online shopping arena, let me explain a few reasons why it is advantageous to shop for fashion online.

It doesn’t take long to realize that shopping online is more convenient.  You don’t have to worry about finding parking, you don’t have to wait in lines or fight traffic, you don’t have to check multiple stores to find the lowest price and search for which store has what sizes or colors, you don’t have to chase your kids around the store or even find time to drive to the store during their hours.  The online shopping channel is truly revolutionizing shopping for fashion.  When you shop for fashion online, you can do so in your pajamas, in the convenience of your own home (or even at work) once your kids have gone to bed or if even late at night when you can’t sleep.  Many online sites even offer free returns which can save you another trip to the store to return your item.

You may be surprised to learn that shopping for fashion online is often cheaper.  For designer fashion specifically, you can find a variety of comparison shopping sites that will allow you to compare prices, sizes and colors for multiple stores at once.  Such sites allow you to quickly scour the internet for fashion deals and can frequently find sites offering free shipping or coupon codes for free shipping.  A couple of our favorites Like.com or Boutiques.com which allows you to search by designer, a type of clothing, or a color or size that you are looking for and will return a variety of great results based on your search terms.   You can also be on the lookout for sites with coupon codes for many online retailers that allow you to find additional discounts.

Shopping online often allows you the ability to find niche fashion items.  Perhaps it is that Chloe purse that is sold out at the mall, but still available at an online boutique store, or that pair of jeans that you know your size in and don’t want to try and chase down at the mall.  You can also more easily find niche designers online as well.  For example, at Vintage Fringe, we carry pieces from designers such as Laurie B. or Joy Joy that you would struggle to find in stores.  Searching on a global level when searching online allows you to find much greater selection than shopping in your local department stores if you know what you are looking for.

In short, if you’re someone who knows which fashion style or designers you love and who wants to find more fashion options than what your local department store may carry, be sure to shop online.  You will quickly discover that shopping online for fashion is much more convenient, often more affordable, and easier to locate pieces once you know what you have in mind.  You can even find great pictures of fashion pieces in sites Lookbooks which brings window shopping to a new level.  At Vintage Fringe, we offer year round free shipping for all non-outlet items, free returns for all non-outlet items, and shop by price and designer options.  We purposely try to carry designer clothes that are high quality and are not found at every other department store or boutique.  Our goal is to always have your friends asking “Where did you get that?” and help you find that perfect statement piece for everyday.  Next time you’re looking for some new fashion ideas, be sure to shop online.

Hot Spring Clothes

Spring is right around the corner and finding hot spring clothes is a must for every fashionista.  Spring fashions are already making a debut in stores now and when you are shopping for spring fashion you will want to make sure you are on the lookout for a few key pieces that you will want to either dust off or add into your spring wardrobe.

Maxi Dresses – the trend continues this spring with a variety of different styles of maxi dresses.  You will see the strapless, halter top, racerback or standard necklines in those ankle length maxi dresses.  This style trend can also be fashionable in patterns or in solids.  Floral patterns are always great for spring and this season you will find lots of bright colors and even retro patterns like tie dyes.  Of course for spring you will also want to have a few cropped cardigans or wraps to go with those maxi dresses with the cooler temperatures.  We love the look of rugged cargo jackets and maxi dresses.

Leggings – Another must have for spring weather are cropped leggings.  Leggings are the must have for shorter dresses or the longer tunic length tops.  We find so many tunic length tops that are popular for spring work perfectly with leggings.  We’ve discussed how to shop for leggings and the pros and cons of different lengths and what colors you should start with when investing in leggings, but in short we suggest that you invest in basic colors like black, grey and browns and then branch out into splurge colors depending on what suits your wardrobe.

Tank Tops and Cardigans – If you are like us by the time spring rolls around we are so tired of long sleeves and turtlenecks that we are dying to get back into wearing some of our favorite tanks.  Of course most spring weather isn’t warm enough to wear tanks by themselves, but we like to wear our tanks with cardigans.  You’ll see lots of scarves and great neckline accessories to complement the different necklines.  Spring fashion trends include mixed lengths and tanks and cardigans are a great way to play off of the different hemlines.  As an example, we love Velvet’s long Kelisha Tank and love wearing that with the cropped Sartee drape cardigan.  This look for us creates a modern feminine look that we love to see this spring.

Skirts – These are classic pieces for spring, summer and fall and this spring we love the simple, yet elegant pencil skirt.  I have a friend who I always admired her fashion style and she would always wear these stretchy pencil skirts that she would wear just about anywhere with practically any top and shoes.  It always looked so comfortable and so fashionable and feminine.  Finding that perfect stretchy pencil skirt is a great addition to any spring wardrobe.  We love the Sintia pencil skirt by Velvet because it has just enough stretch and cling.

Of course these are just a few of our highlights for spring fashion this season.   You will want to incorporate any and all of these great trends in your spring wardrobe as they suit your own style.  If you’re trying to save a little money we suggest picking your favorite of these spring fashion trends and then add others over time.  Don’t forget, that above all you will want to make sure that whatever spring fashion you wear you will want to make sure that you are true to your own individual style.

Winter White Fashion

If you’re looking for ways to have winter white fashion looks this season consider a few great pieces in a variety of shades of white and ivory to help create that beautiful winter white look.  Of course you will want to make sure and have some great accessories to help give the right amount of contrast to your look.

As a great example of ways to add contrasting colors, consider the Moonlight Cap Sweater by designer Laurie b.  This fashion forward sweater is available in white and during winter we love to wear it over long sleeve scoop necks in black or any color to add a little edge to the look.  Our favorite top to wear under this sweater is the Long Sleeve Scoop Neck by Splendid.  It is a great fabric and has a sheer look to it.  Available in a variety of colors including white that long sleeve scoop neck is the perfect complement for the Moonlight Cap Sweater. This sweater is a great way to layer in additional winter white fashion.

The Audrey wrap, also by designer Laurie b. features a luxurious knit in Ivory with a subtle contrasting tie at the waist in tan to give it just a hint of color.  With a beautiful fabric and classic feminine design, this wrap is a great winter sweater.

A lighter weight piece that is a great complement for your winter white fashion wardrobe is the Very Light Jersey Draped Cardigan by Splendid.  Available in a variety of clothing including white, this light weight cardigan has a flowing look and long length which capitalizes on two great fashion trends this season – the long length and the sheer lightweight fabric.  You’ll see a variety of similar light weight fabrics such as burnout again this season.

For a different look, consider the Nona ¾ length sleeve ruffle top by Velvet.  This winter white top features a ruffle accenting the v neckline and is slightly gathered in back.  We love the classic look of this top with the feminine touches and best of all the comfortable, baby jersey cotton fabric which is so wearable and comfortable.  It is long enough to wear with a wide belt if you are looking for longer length tops.

If you’re looking for great winter white accessories, consider one of our favorite necklaces featuring large white turquoise beads with specks of sand color on them.  For contrast, the designer utilized small shimmering gold colored beads in between the large turquoise beads.  All of this is set off by a copper chain for additional color.

There is truly no shortage of options for different ways to wear winter white fashion this season.  You’ll find a variety of ways to create great individual style while focusing your wardrobe on winter white.  As you create your own individual style winter white fashion, don’t forget that you may want just a pop of color and great jewelry is a great way to add a little pop or sparkle to help break up a monotone looking outfit.

What Jewelry Should I Wear With Winter Clothes

Dressing in colder weather can make accessorizing your outfits much more of a challenge.  Say no more as there are a lot of great ways to remedy the winter wardrobe blues and dress it up with jewelry.  To balance out the heavier fabrics and layers you will want to find pieces of jewelry that are a bit heavier and bolder than some you might wear in warmer weather.

One jewelry trend that works great with heavy winter clothes this season are the big, chunky necklaces and earrings in great contrasting colors that help bring attention to your neckline and add a hint of femininity to it.  Depending on whether you prefer warm or cool colors you may want to find great accent colors like reds, light blues or greens.  Wonderful accent colors like jade green or even coral pinks that are very in style this season.  Another great contrast color is white or ivory in large beads or stones.  You can find a variety of different styles of necklaces in long or short lengths depending on what you prefer and what works best with your own individual style and wardrobe.  Chunky necklaces work well with long sleeve scoop necks and can even work with other necklines that are popular in winter clothing such as turtlenecks.  We love the look of classy long bold necklaces with turtlenecks in the winter.

Long necklaces are a great way to break up the look of heavy sweaters or cardigans in the winter and are also great ways to accent heavier tops.  You’ll find a variety of styles of long necklaces that feature an oversized pendant on the necklace. These longer necklaces are a great way to break up the monotony of heavy textures and less skin that is characteristic of winter clothing.

Another great way to help break up the heavier winter textures is long earrings.  They really do help to bring attention up to your face and help lighten up the winter clothing layers.  Long hoops or other big earrings are my go to piece whenever I don’t have that perfect necklace to go with an outfit.  Big earrings are a great way to bring a little more shine and sparkle to your winter wardrobe.  We love the look of long dangle earrings with high necklines to help break up or spice up an outfit.

In short, the basic theme for finding the perfect jewelry to help accessorize any winter outfit is generally long lengths for earrings and necklaces and bold chunky pieces to help offset the heavy, thick textures and fabrics so prevalent with winter clothing.  You will want to find good accent colors that work with your typical wardrobe pieces and will want to make sure that you have a few good staple pieces.  When you can’t find the perfect necklace to go with your outfit you will want to have some good fallback earrings that help give your look that added sparkle and shine and help breakup the monotony of so many layers of clothes.

How to Accessorize my Neckline

As temperatures start to warm up this year it will quickly be time to start thinking about ways to accessorize your neckline.  Luckily there are a variety of great ways to accessorize necklines that are also extremely popular fashion trends this season.

Let’s start with probably the most obvious…necklaces.  Of course every outfit presents unique opportunities to wear jewelry, but necklaces are by far the most central, but yet also most diverse way to accessorize.  Popular necklaces range from the simple classic silver or gold necklace to the larger chunky bead or stone necklaces that are so popular these days.   Having a few of each for your different tops and looks will be an essential way to help accessorize around the neckline.  Chunky big necklaces can be found in a variety of styles, colors and lengths and you will want to invest in a couple of great bold necklaces that you can wear with as many outfits as possible.  Consider your existing wardrobe and style and then find a couple of great staple chunky necklaces that will work with it.  You will also want to incorporate a few more classic pieces to give you some optional looks before you buy necklaces that are more splurge pieces.

Another great way to accessorize your neckline are scarves.  Cute scarves have been a great fashion forward trend that is still in style this season.  Similar to the strategy for finding some good necklaces, you will want to first invest in a few great accent colors that would fit with your wardrobe.  If you tend to like warmer colors consider an ivory or brown colored scarf as a complement to your existing clothing.  Likewise if you prefer cool colors a grey or light blue might be a great good complement colors.  We recommend starting with solid colors first and then branching into patterned scarves if they suit your individual style.  You will likely want to have a couple of basic go to scarves to layer into your wardrobe as a great way to accessorize.

Finally don’t forget about turtleneck tops as suited to the season.  You can find short sleeve turtlenecks for warmer weather.  The turtleneck is very much in style and one of the latest trends in turtlenecks are gathered turtlenecks that give you a great turtleneck look that stays in place and also gives you a beautiful, feminine look around your neck.  Consider the Discharge turtleneck top by AlixK or their Cappy short sleeve turtleneck as examples with this great neckline.

We think that each of these alternatives are great ways to accessorize your neckline.  Of course whatever you prefer to accessorize your neckline with we recommend that you try to stretch out of your comfort zone and expand your individual style to try some of these amazing ways to accent your neckline.  I have to admit that I’ve lived through the scarf trend in the 80s and was a little reluctant, but I invested in some great staple colors that fit my wardrobe and have found them to be so fun to wear.  Above all, each of these alternatives are great ways to insert some added feminine touches into your wardrobe and we think if you invest in the right pieces, each of these trends can be so much fund to include in your individual style.

Dressing with Layers

Layers are everywhere this season and especially in colder temperatures layers are a great way to help keep you warm while still looking stylish.  You can create that layered look in a variety of ways, but there are certainly a few that stand out as our favorites at Vintage Fringe.

You can’t talk about dressing with layers without discussing wraps and cardigans.  They truly are such versatile pieces that help to bridge the gap between warm and cold weather practically all year round.  You can find wraps in all sorts of fabrics depending on how heavy you want them, but we suggest wearing a good cotton or jersey wrap that you can throw in a bag to have with you as the perfect option on a cold evening.  These wraps can also be perfect for traveling if you need something light weight to carry on a plane or in your luggage.  Wraps can be found in just about every color so there really is no excuse for not having at least one.  Currently you’ll see them with flared or wide open fronts as a popular look.  You’ll see wraps in cropped lengths which are great accents for dresses or other outfits.  We also love long wraps to pair with leggings and boots which seem to be my go to look for the winter this year.

Another essential piece when dressing with layers are long sleeve shirts.  Whether you like long sleeve tops or turtlenecks these are essential pieces if you are looking to layer up.  Long sleeve tops are perfect if you are looking to wear them under wraps, cardigans or even as is so popular under other short sleeve tops.  Turtlenecks are some of our favorite pieces to wear under certain sweaters and if you’ve seen the long sweater cardigans turtlenecks can be great basics to layer underneath.  At Vintage Fringe we have a variety of different styles of turtlenecks from solid colors to turtlenecks that are truly statement pieces, but in any case you shouldn’t overlook these basic long sleeve tops when you are looking to find ways to layer up in colder weather.

Finally another great piece to layer with are light jackets.   Our favorite jackets for layering include lightweight fleece or other jersey cotton.  Consider the Cropped Double Breasted Jacket by Zooey which is a great lightweight jersey cotton that is light enough to wear in warmer weather and also warm enough for fall weather.  We even wear it as a blazer during colder weather giving it added versatility.

Dressing with layers is really so much about function and versatility and giving you options depending on the weather, but despite all of these great reasons for layers you don’t have to sacrifice style.   You can easily find a variety of tops, wraps and jackets that will help you create your own individual style with a few great pieces that really help give your wardrobe a variety of options in addition to helping you fit in with the latest trends.

Shop Ella Moss

If you’re shopping for great pieces from Ella Moss there are so many great options to consider.  As a little bit of background the Ella Moss line was started by designer Pamella Protzel Scott who originally studied graphic design when she realized that fashion was her true passion.  After attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising she was hired to work for Moise Emquies the founder of Mo Industries.  The pair partnered together to create Ella Moss taken from Pamella’s nickname (Ella) and Moise’s nickname (Moss).  In their own words, they describe the Ella Moss line as follows: “Hip, quirky, fashionable”. Protzel explained that her main inspiration for design was art, fashion, people, travelling, and Parisian flea markets.  She describes the collection as “flowy femininity with the comfort level of a t-shirt.”  You’ll find that Ella Moss fashions truly live up to that description and it isn’t hard to find so many great pieces when you are shopping the Ella Moss line.

As an example of a few of our favorite pieces as examples of the great fabrics and design that is so signature of Ella Moss consider the Blaire Widesleeve Crew Dress.  A beautiful dress with an angled contrasting hem with color options including Navy and White or Yellow and Grey.  We love the clean contrast around the high waist and the pleats around the neckline and the front keyhole giving this dress a variety of added detail and feminine touches.  This dress is made of 100% rayon which makes it dry clean only, but it feels so soft and luxurious that it is completely worth it.  This collection also features a great Blaire Puffsleeve Scoop Neck top features that same navy with contrasting white trim and includes ¾ length sleeves and a cutout detail around the shoulders.

Another great Ella Moss piece that brings a bit of luxury to something so basic is the Hampton Hoodie.  With contrasting voile shirting fabric around the neckline and trim around the hoodie with brown wooden beads at the end of the drawstring hoodie and even brown wood buttons to give this top added feminine touches.  Complete with gathering at the sides of the hemline and with faux rolled up ¾ length sleeves you will love the details on this top. We also love the Bay Blue color and even the white color that really looks classic, but still has that Ella Moss signature touch with amazing fabrics that really do feel like a t-shirt.  This top is made of a modal jersey and micro modal fabric which makes it dry clean only, but unbelievably soft.

You really can’t go wrong with Ella Moss clothing and when you are shopping for Ella Moss clothes you will find consistently great fabrics and designs that incorporate a variety of feminine touches and details that give each piece an added distinctive style.  Each Ella Moss piece has a statement piece quality to them that really does make having at least a couple of fabulous Ella Moss pieces in your wardrobe a great way to spice up your closet.

Stylish Winter Clothes

During colder weather it is easy to get mired down with lots of layers that keep you bundled up and warm, but sometimes it is nice to break out into stylish winter clothes so that you still manage to maintain that flirty, feminine look.  Here are a few great winter clothes ideas to help snap you out of the winter clothing doldrums.

Consider the sweater.  A piece that you certainly need to wear in the winter and there are some great ways to find stylish sweaters that are not frumpy or plain and will help spice up your winter wardrobe. Take for example the Aspen Motorcycle sweater by Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  A great retro inspired piece the Aspen Motorcycle sweater is a cropped sweater featuring a fold over neck along with an off center zipper from top to bottom.  We also love the great zipper details on the pockets and the epaulets on the shoulders with matching black buttons.  An adorable sweater that is certain to be a staple piece in your wardrobe. This sweater style is a must have for cold winters and this sweater is so warm and cozy and still looks super stylish on.

Another winter staple is the turtleneck.  Turtlenecks have really become timeless pieces that really never fade completely out of style.  While the basic concept of the turtleneck is fairly standard between tops, but you really can find a variety of different details or accents that make them very distinctive.  Consider the Catelina Turtleneck by Velvet with pleats at the neckline.  This turtleneck features a baby jersey cotton and the turtleneck does stay in place better than other turtleneck styles and we adore the pleats which give a basic style a little added feminine touch.   Compare that turtleneck to the Discharge turtleneck by AlixK or the similar Cappy short sleeve turtleneck also by AlixK.  These turtlenecks feature a gathered turtleneck that also stays in place, but creates a beautiful feminine touch on an otherwise plain turtleneck.  AlixK is known for their hand embroidery detailing every top and we love the added details like the darts that give added stylish accents to basic style tops.

Another great example of stylish winter clothes is various designs of wrap sweaters.  We love the Audrey wrap sweater by designer Laurie B.  This sweater is a lightweight fabric blend that feels luxuriously soft.  The fabric includes a cashmere and viscose blend so it feels silky soft on.  The wrap is a faux wrap but with a contrasting tie around the waist that gives it added depth and a subtle feminine touch.  Wraps as a whole are a great piece for your winter wardrobe and you will see them in a variety of styles and colors.

In short, these are simply a few examples of great ways to insert stylish winter clothes into your wardrobe.  Of course you can find a variety of wonderful stylish pieces for colder weather that really do give you great feminine styles to incorporate into your wardrobe you just have to look for them.  Don’t forget to accessorize any of your favorite winter pieces with scarves or cute hats as appropriate as great economical ways to bring in added depth and style to your winter clothes.

Latest Jacket Trends

Jackets are always evolving along with fashion trends every season.  Of course this season is no different, but you will definitely want to be mindful of some of the latest jacket trends when you are out shopping for a new jacket.  There are several new trends you should be aware of when considering your next jacket purchase including length, styles and fabrics.

By far the biggest fashion trend with respect to jackets this season is the length.  You will find jackets this season are hot in really two extreme lengths.  Short or cropped length is definitely a big trend this season.  You will find people wearing cropped jackets with longer length tops.  The cropped length jacket is really such a great new jacket look that you will want to have at least one to mix up the looks with your jacket wardrobe.  Alternatively you will also find stylish jackets in long lengths as well.  Trench coats are seeing a surge this season as well and you will find a variety of stylish trench coats that are knee length this season.  Having a lightweight jacket like a trench coat will be the perfect piece to add a little fresh fashion trend into your closet.

You will also see jackets in a variety of styles but with a few standout trends.   The latest trends include a lot of the military style embellished cropped jackets .  Many trends include vintage inspired elements such as cropped flared wrap jackets that you would have seen in furs or in the movies.  Both of these great jacket trends pair so well with boots and leggings or even just your everyday jeans or cargo pants. You will also see lots of off center accents such as zippers or buttons .  Of course we can’t forget to mention accents like belts that are also part of the latest jacket trends.  Embellishments and accents on jackets this season are practically a trend unto themselves.

Another trend this season is jackets that mix up the textures with fabrics.  You’ll see the lots of retro or vintage elements in the fabrics lots of patterns and tweed.  You will also see shimmer and ruffles mixed into a variety of jacket styles.  Really the trend is variety of texture and you can find it in a variety of patterns and styles.   Fabrics will be more shimmer and sparkle than matte and in a combination of bold colors and earth tones are making a comeback this season.

Our goal is always to try and create our own individual style so depending on your preferences you may want to buck the trends altogether, but it is always helpful to know what the latest trends are so that you can choose whether you want to incorporate them into your own personal wardrobe.  It is always good to have at least one jacket that is trendy enough to help spruce up your wardrobe and with the current trends for jackets.  Personally I love my cropped bomber jacket and my trench coat is it is hard to choose just one, but in any case we hope you’ll find that perfect style jacket just for you!
