Wear To Work Spring Fashion

Even though the economy is hopefully recovering, I still pay much more attention now to finding ways to incorporate versatile pieces that work for more than just casual events.  I love to find pieces that can be worn to the office and casually.

The Mae Ruffle Scoop Neck tank is a great example of a top that can be worn to the office and casually if you prefer.  It is a tank top that is more than just a basic style tank.  This tank features a deep scoop neckline adorned by a ruffle with a drawstring tie around the neck, this tank top is a perfect complement to your closet.  This knit tank top is extremely versatile with the ability to dress it up under a blazer at the office or wearing it as a standalone top with capris, a skirt or whatever.  This is a bold statement piece in bold color. This tank is part of designer Velvet’s Whisper collection which is a thin, lightweight jersey cotton.  It is available in Cayenne a red coral color that is totally the “it” color this summer.

Another top that works for the office is the Keesha ¾ Sleeve V Neck top by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  This top features a cowl neck v neckline accented by beading off the shoulder.  This beaded detail really does take an otherwise simple top and transform it with just a simple cluster of beads.  I also love the use of beads as accents such as the Collective Concepts Racerback Flared Tunic Tank Top.  Here the beads are around the straps on the shoulders which are metal links adorned by black beads on both sides.  A great way to layer in details and really make these tops more feminine and even more of a statement.  I love wearing this top with a pencil skirt like the Sintia Pencil Skirt as a classy way to wear this top at the office.

The Solna tank by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer is a truly elegant modern piece that is sophisticated enough to wear to work and an evening out.   Available in Haze, a smokey grey color, this top pairs well with greys, blacks and whites all good contrasts to wear to the dressiest office.  Part of Velvet’s Slinky Rayon collection, the fabric on this top feels so luxurious.  Of course my favorite aspect of this top is the neckline.  With a sweeping asymmetric sash across the neckline that is gathered off center on this top for added detail which looks feminine and stylish.

These are just a few great examples of versatile pieces that work for spring fashions you can wear o work.  All of them are classy and elegant and not over the top making them a bit too much for most offices.  They are great pieces to incorporate sophisticated style into your office wardrobe whether you need to wear them under a blazer or without.

Jewel Tone Tops

This season bright, vivid colors are a great way to add vibrant bold pieces into your wardrobe.  Finding colors that fit with jewel tones as an example is a great way to add bold colors to your closet.  These colors are making a resurgence and summer is a great time to incorporate bright colors in a variety of different styles.

The Daree top by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer in jungle an emerald green color is an example of the bright colors that are so popular.  Green shades have made a comeback and can be found in so many shades.  The style of this Daree top makes it the perfect top for belting.  With a wide belt that you wear just below a natural empire waist level, this top looks great with that belted accent and is a great way to incorporate basic colors as contrast against the vibrant emerald green tone.

Of course Sapphire is a great jewel tone to find clothing to include in your closet.  Sapphires can come in many shades, but my personal favorites are the deep navy hues.  As an example of a jewel tone top to match Sapphire colors is the Berta dress / tunic top by Velvet.  This dress features a deep navy color and exudes the same class and sophistication as a beautiful sapphire stone.  This tunic top is a great summer piece and I truly love the deep navy tone.  It is not a royal blue, it is a true deep navy.  I love the loose belted tie around the waist for added style on this top along with the deep v neckline.  The wide sleeves also feature subtle pleats as accents adorning the sleeves.  This top features raw edges on the hems and sleeves for added detail.

If you are looking for a ruby jewel tone, consider the Mae Ruffle Scoop Neck tank by Velvet.  This tank features a deep scoop neckline adorned by a ruffle with a drawstring tie around the neck all in a Cayenne coral red color.  A great bright color and coral hues are so popular this summer, this stylish tank top is extremely versatile with the ability to dress it up under a blazer at the office or wearing it as a standalone top with capris, a skirt or whatever.  This is a statement piece particularly with such bold color.  This tank is part of Velvet’s Whisper collection which is a thin, lightweight jersey cotton.

As you can see jewel tone tops are a great way to incorporate both bold colors and great style pieces into your wardrobe.  Jewel tones can clearly come in many other shades and hues, but these are a few great examples of how easy it is to find stylish pieces in such vibrant colors.  Literally, you can find every jewel tone in modern fashions and such colors do a lot to really accent your closet with bright statement pieces that can complement whatever colors work best with your skin tone.

Celebrity Inspired Clothing

I’ve seen so many celebrities this season rocking a gauzy white shirt from Kate Hudson to Zoe Saldana, wearing a baggy or loose fitted white top can be a great way to create the perfect casual yet sophisticated outfit.  A white top is a great way to add in a clean crisp color and offset it with pops of color or jewelry to create that signature white top look.

The obvious choice is your basic button up boyfriend top style in white that looks great with a necklace with lots of color and a colored belt with jeans or a skirt or leggings.  The white top is really a clean slate piece that gives you the ultimate in flexibility to add in any color and you can literally transform that look with accessories each time you wear it.  You’ll see lots of celebrities rocking this style of top on a day to day basis and the classic white boyfriend top is a timeless piece.

As homage to that top consider the Montego Long Sleeve Henley top by one of our favorite designers Ella Moss.  This top features an empire waist and a tie in back to create a fitted look, if desired.  With brown wooden buttons in front at the base of the Henley neckline and at the end of the ties in front and back for added contrast and these details give this top a bohemian look as well.  The fabric is gauzy cotton which makes it a great lightweight summer piece and frankly something that can be worn year round over a tank and with brown boots and jeans as an example.

Another twist on the basic button up top is the Darvey long sleeve button up tunic top.  A fitted top with tunic length by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer features a baby jersey cotton fabric contrasted with a number of mother of pearl shimmery buttons.  Available in white and a variety of other colors in case you are looking for something other than basic white, but the classic white color works great as a substitute for the basic boyfriend style white top.  In addition, it gives you all sorts of versatile options for layering and accessorizing.  I wear this top over contrasting colors of Kelisha tank tops which are the perfect complementary length.

Of course there are countless options and twists on the basic gauzy white shirt this season.  You can find that classic boyfriend style top in white if that is your cup of tea or consider alternative style tops that can provide added ways to wear distinctive pieces while still giving you that same stylish look.  What I love best about gauzy white tops is really the versatility and alternative ways to accessorize these tops and help give each outfit a unique look and style while still wearing the same top.  The creative options are endless and really a great way to transform something simple into a statement piece or outfit.

Celebrity Clothing Styles

We all pay attention to certain celebrities clothing styles and fashion choices.  Each of us has our respective favorite celebrities and honestly I can love one outfit on a celebrity and hate another outfit on the same celebrity.  There are of course a few celebrities that rarely go wrong in terms of outfit choice.  This classy taste in fashion probably is more a reflection of their personal stylists, but I still love to think that some of my favorite celebrities have a say in selecting their personal style and having such great fashion sense.  One of my favorite celebrities that I love to follow their fashion choices and clothing styles is Reese Witherspoon.

With such a classy, sophisticated personality it is no wonder that her fashion style really does seem to be an expression of her personal inner beauty and confidence.  In watching her over the years with different hair styles and at different fashion award events, her style is always elegant and classy.  If you catch her in day to day outfit photos, she always manages to look sophisticated and classy while still looking casual and as if she is truly an everyday normal gal which perhaps is part of her overall appeal.

If you look at many of these casual everyday photos, Reese has her own trends and one of my personal favorite of her style choices are stripes.  She seems to love stripes and frankly wears them often and she looks great in them.  She frequently wears stripes in tops in a variety of colors and styles.

If I had a pick out a few pieces that I think Reese would love to wear at Vintage Fringe, I think she would love the Variegated Stripe Boatneck top by Splendid.  This great top features contrasting white and navy or red stripes in various different width stripes.  This top seems right of Reese’s alley and a great complement to her skin tone.

I could also see Reese wearing the Melbourne Puff Sleeve Front Tie Top by Ella Moss.  This cute short sleeve top features a v neck top accented by a tie and puff sleeves.  The top also features an elastic waist band so it has a gathered loose fitting look at the waist.  I love the white stripes contrasted by an oatmeal heather stripe.  A great natural look and style, I think these colors would look amazing with Reese’s blond hair.

Finally, for more of a winter look, I can picture Reese wearing the Trinity Cowlneck Top by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  Reese does tend to wear a lot of color and it is a great complement with her hair and skin tone and this top would work well with her body type.  A loose fitted top with a combination of stripe width, this top is a great stylish statement piece that Reese would look great in.

As you can see, stripes are a popular trend in clothing and Reese is certainly on board serving as a walking billboard for adorable stripe tops that manage to look stylish and classy while always looking great on Reese everyday.

Knit Tank Top

Knits are pretty much at the top of our list when it comes to favorite fabrics for tank tops.  It is hard to beat a great jersey knit for comfort and wear ability in hot summer weather.  Of course you can find tank tops in a variety of different styles , but today we are going to feature a few of our must have knit tank tops for summer.

You can’t talk about fabulous knit tank tops without discussing the Kelisha tank top by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  This tank is a must have because of its length.  It is tunic length so it works great with leggings, skirts, and tunic tops during the summer and works perfectly for layering in colder weather too.  It is baby jersey cotton so it is a super soft cotton knit fabric.  You can also find these tanks in a variety of colors which make it even more of an essential for your summer wardrobe.  Honestly, I have about 5 of these in different colors to wear year round with different tunic tops.

Another great knit tank top is the U Neck tank top by designer Splendid.  This tank is really a staple tank top featuring a “U” scoop neck in front and back and wide straps.  The body of the tank features a super soft ribbed fabric that is 50% cotton and 50% modal. Pretty much anything with modal in it–we love because of its softness.  It is a great comfortable and quality knit tank top that comes in white, pink and parsley green.

If you are looking for a knit tank top that is more than just a basic style tank, consider the Mae Ruffle Scoop Neck tank by Velvet. This is a statement piece. This tank is part of Velvet’s Whisper collection which is a thin, lightweight jersey cotton.  It also is available in Cayenne a red coral color that is totally the “it” color this summer.

As you can see there are a number of great options for knit tank tops ranging from staple pieces to statement pieces.  Whether you need the basics or something more sophisticated, knit tank tops are a great way to incorporate comfortable fabrics into your wardrobe without sacrificing on the style or quality of the tank top.  Knit tank tops are an affordable way to add pieces to your wardrobe that won’t break the budget and can be worn practically year round.   You can also find them in great colors that are a great way to add a little spice to your wardrobe and work so well for layering.

Sporty Stripes

Stripes are a great way to mix up the styles in your closet and a great way to transform a basic style top into a statement piece or transform an outfit.  While stripes are always preferably worn horizontally, they can be wide or narrow, contrasted by white or black or shades of the same color and in different styles ranging from tops to skirts.  We are mad about stripes and here are a few of our favorite examples.

First up is the Variegated Stripe Boatneck top from designer Splendid.    This long sleeve top features a wide boatneck with tiny colored buttons over the shoulder for added contrast.  The variegated stripe pattern features different stripe widths all contrasted by a white background.  The stripes come in either navy or red and are a great way to make this top pop.  The fabric is airy enough that this sweater is great practically all year round and is a tad sheer so it looks great over tanks as another way to accessorize and provide a little contrast.

The variegated stripe pattern is also found in Splendid’s Variegated Stripe Loose Jersey Dress.   This dress is a must have for summer and can even double as a swim suit cover up.  It features a deep v neck in front and back and a tie at the base of the v neck in front.  The Variegated Stripe features a Quartz contrast color which is a gorgeous pink color.  This dress is a great example of how to sport stripes in any context.

Another great must have for summer are Collective Concepts tops and tanks.  Featuring great sporty stripe patterns these tops also come in great fabrics that feel luxurious and are machine washable and so comfortable.  The Lace Trim Stripe Tank as an example features wide stripes in navy or red contrasted on an ivory background.  This tank has a loose fit and a flared waist giving it a comfortable fit.  Accented by lace detail around the shoulders and a racerback, this tank is very distinctive.  The stripe knit top features a short sleeve scoop neck top with either pink or green colors contrasted against an ivory background.  This top has a sheer fabric and looks amazing over a tank for added detail.

Of course you can also find stripes in skirts.  Consider one of our latest arrivals the Fanya Drape Skirt by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  This skirt features a diagonal block of stripes around the waist and then an asymmetrical line that divides the skirt which then alternates into a horizontal stripe pattern.  If that sounds too confusing, you’ll just have to take a look at the skirt to see what we are talking about, but it is a great way to mix up the stripes and add a touch of flare to this skirt.

There really are endless alternatives for ways to find and incorporate sporty stripe patterns into your wardrobe and as you can see they really are a great way to transform simple style pieces into something distinctive.

Rose Print Dress

This summer floral pattern dresses are just as popular as ever.  If you are looking for rose pattern dresses and tops then you’ll frequently see them in delicate even sheer fabrics such as chiffons with sweetheart necklines and spaghetti straps.  They are beautiful, but they are also traditional.  We like to branch out a bit with a variety of different alternatives with that basic rose print dress with alternate ways to bring rose or floral patterns into your closet.

Consider pairing the Sleeveless Front Tie Tank from designer Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati with a green or red skirt.  This great tank features a distinctive neckline with the ruched neck with a tie around the neck.  This tank exudes femininity and of course is complemented by a beautiful rose print pattern featuring bright red roses.   For a dressier look, we suggest pairing this with a pencil skirt such as the Sintia Pencil Skirt by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  It would look great with one of our newest colors Botanica a green color.  This outfit would truly be a statement piece in your closet and a distinctive way to incorporate roses compared to the traditional dress options.

If the gathered tie neck isn’t for you, consider the sister tank also by designer Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati, the Sleeveless Tie Tank Top which also features a beautiful rose pattern in baby blue.  With a baby blue tie in back for added contrast.  This tank features a flared waist and subtle pleats in front.  With a retro style, this rose print tank is a great feminine styled piece that again would look great with a pencil skirt or even leggings for a dressier look.  This is a great summer tank with lots of color and feminine touches.

If you are still interested in finding a distinctive floral /rose print dress consider the Tie Short Dress also by designer Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati.  This dress features a retro style and a bold brown and pink floral pattern.  With color blocking detail around the waist and bodice, this dress is completely distinctive and a great away to bring in floral patterns while also maintaining your individual style.  This dress also works with leggings or simply as is whatever you prefer.

As you can see there are a number of ways to create an individual style while still including feminine pieces such as rose prints whether they are in tops, tanks, skirts or dresses.  Using patterns and prints is a great way to add versatility and options to accessorize these statement pieces and maximize the options of different ways to wear patterned pieces.  We also love that they are truly distinctive.  Even though roses are fairly uniform, these pieces show that they can also be distinctive.

Ultimately, you have to find the dress that is the perfect fit for you, but we suggest that you consider thinking outside of the box instead of simply sticking with the traditional rose pattern dresses that you can find from a number of designers.

Floral Print Dresses

In your search for that perfect summer dress, don’t forget to include the classic floral print dress.  Dresses can currently be found in a variety of patterns, but good floral patterns can be a bit more elusive.  You want to find a pattern that isn’t over the top and sometimes floral patterns can be just that.

Consider the Cherry Short Sleeve Dress by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  This dress features a sheer silk cotton blend fabric that feels light and airy on.  We love pairing it over a pair of leggings and worn as a tunic for added versatility.  The dress features a lightly plunging neckline and a brown tie around the waist for added contrast.  The floral pattern features blues and reds along with a tile pattern in back for added detail.

Floral patterns are great because they are always distinctive and unique.   In addition they always feature bright colors that blend well together.  The multiple colors also give you a number of options for colors to accessorize floral print dresses.  From shoes to leggings and jewelry you really do have a variety of ways to add accent to any floral print dress.

Another great example of a floral print dress featuring more of a retro vibe is the Mod Retro Tunic and the Retro Boatneck dress by designer Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati.  These dresses feature the same retro floral pattern with blocks of flowers juxtaposed on a black and white Spanish tile pattern.  The colors are in purples and blues and pinks giving a bright floral look on the style of each dress.  These dresses are great examples of different styles of dresses available for floral print dresses as well.  The boatneck dress with a tie around the waist is a great option for a more fitted look.  The retro tunic / dress features a 70s style sleeveless A line dress with a solid black stripe down the center for added contrast.  Each dress has a distinctive vibe and the floral pattern adds depth and character to the already stylish dress.

As you can see, you have a number of different options to find designer dresses with floral prints.  You can vary not only the floral pattern and colors but also the style of dress to create that perfect individual look you are going for.  We also love the ability to pair floral print dresses with so many options for accessories.  They are a great way to layer in solid color scarves, leggings, boots, shoes, jewelry and belts depending on the style of dress.   You also want to be sure to avoid floral patterns that overdo it.   While I can’t describe exactly what that means because it is so pattern specific, it generally is one of those you know it when you see it type of rules of thumb.  For all of these reasons, floral print dresses are a great way to express your own individual style and a great way to give your closet a pop of color and style.

Blue Floral Dress

There are a variety of different shades of blue which when combined with a floral pattern can make shopping for a blue floral dress a challenge.  There’s the baby blue, the blue green, navy, turquoise, teal, aqua, and the list goes on.  You can find a variety of blue dresses including blue floral dresses this season so choosing the right dress for you can be a tiresome task.  However, this can all be simplified by narrowing down your options with a few simple choices.

First, is blue the primary color you are looking for or an accent color.  If you are looking for blue to be a central color in the dress, consider the Cherry Short Sleeve Dress by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  The floral pattern features blues and reds along with a tile pattern in back for added detail.  There are a few different shades of blue in the pattern on this floral dress giving it added options for accessories.  We love pairing it over a pair of leggings and worn as a tunic for added versatility.  The dress features a lightly plunging neckline and a brown tie around the waist for added contrast.  This dress features a sheer silk cotton blend fabric that feels light and airy on which is an added benefit.

If you are looking for an accent blue color then consider the Mod Retro Tunic by designer Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati as a dress option.  Here this stylish black dress features contrasting floral images in blues, pinks and purples mixed with Spanish tile décor.  In a retro style this dress features a classic A line and is sleeveless.  Here the blue is more of a subtle color, but still enough to add a bold pop of color and style to this dress.  Of course if this style of dress isn’t for you, consider the sister dress the Retro Boatneck Dress featuring a tie around the waist with the same floral pattern.

Finally if you really want the floral pattern to be more subtle consider wearing the Berta Short Sleeve V Neck dress by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer that features a solid navy blue dress.  Mixing it with a floral scarf, a rose accented belt, or jewelry, could give you that floral element while still maintaining a strong blue statement dress.

Whatever you prefer, you really can’t go wrong in searching for that perfect blue floral dress for your wardrobe.  Floral patterns are a great way to blend in other accessories and give you added versatility.  Whether that be leggings, boots, scarves, hats, jewelry, belts or shoes, such accessories really are perfect for blending with Floral patterns dresses or even floral pattern tops.  We also love finding blues because frankly almost all of us have so much black in our closets these days that a great blue can really help mix things up.   These floral pieces really can become great choices in an economy where you are looking for something versatile.

Peasant Skirt

As the weather warms up we are thrilled to be wearing skirts as often as possible.  One of this season’s biggest skirt trends are peasant skirts.  While the name doesn’t really create an appealing image, it really is a beautiful skirt and best of all something that is ultra comfortable and fun to wear.

The peasant skirt features a series of connected layers that give a subtle ruffled look and of course a great touch of feminine details.  They can come in a variety of different lengths depending on your preferences, but they are almost always longer skirts that fall well below the knee.  They can also be as long as ankle length.  The longer length makes them a good multi-purpose skirt.  The peasant skirt works well as a casual skirt that you can wear with flip flops or sandals or dress it up with heels or boots for dressier occasions.

You can also find peasant skirts in actual tiered fabric layers giving the skirt a heavier, but bold look.  These are great statement skirts.  Personally, my favorite style of the peasant skirt is the Hilton skirt by one of our favorite designers Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  This skirt is long, but not ankle length.  It hits about half way between the knee and the ankle.  It also features a folded waist band giving you added versatility if you want the length to be a little longer.  Currently available in two great colors black (you can never have enough black skirts!) or Rootbeer, a smokey brown color.   I love this skirt because I don’t really like the ankle length skirts and depending on your personal body type you want to be careful that you don’t wear skirts that are too long because they can make you look shorter and draw added attention to your feet.

Best of all the peasant skirt really does give you a great feminine skirt that isn’t your basic pencil or A line skirt, but it is super comfortable and is really a great all around wear anywhere skirt.  In the current economy where we all are trying to maximize our dollar, this is the perfect versatile piece.  I love the ability to wear this on weekends running errands in my flip flops and then the next day wear it to church or a dressy party.  Really you can dress it up and change the sophistication level of this skirt by simply changing your shoes and top.

In short, the peasant skirt is a great way to really add a versatile, trendy and stylish skirt to your closet.  It really is a must have for summer.  It is also a great way to help you accentuate your favorite accessories year round whether they be sandals, boots, a great top, or even jewelry.  You can’t go wrong with a good peasant skirt and be sure to consider your individual body type when picking the length for the skirt.  If you are super tall, the longer length peasant skirt may be perfect for you, but if you are shorter or feeling a little heavy around the waistline, the shorter length peasant skirt might be best.
