Floral Sleeveless Tank Top

Floral patterns are totally en vogue this season and frankly are great classic feminine style patterns that really can be timeless.  If you’re in the market for floral sleeveless tank tops, then consider a few of our favorites by designer Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati.

Sweet Pea tops are always feminine with their fabulous floral patterns and cute styles. The Sleeveless Front Tie Top is no exception. We love the deep navy blue color that is so deep it almost looks black. (In our option that is often the key to a good navy blue.) It naturally pairs perfectly with the red floral pattern for contrast. With a distinctive neckline, this top features two ties that tie in front. The neckline is completely adjustable with these two ties. The ruffle collar is separated and joined together by the ties. With a keyhole at the front, this top is also stylish and flirty.  It is a truly distinctive summer tank top and a top that clearly exudes femininity.

Consider another example of a floral sleeveless tank top with the Sleeveless Tie Tank Top by Sweet Pea. This top epitomizes classic vintage style with its 60s era look. We also love the pattern in contrasting shades of deep navy blue and sky blue flowers in the pattern. This Sleeveless Tie top features a back tie in sky blue that ties at the back of the neck and also features a keyhole in back for an added feminine touch.  This top has a loose fit around the waist and is a beautiful tank for summer.

Both of these tank tops have similar features in that they are floral patterns, both tank tops and both feature longer lengths.  They are also great examples of distinctive styles with contrasting ties in front or back and distinctive necklines. They are certainly not your classic run of the mill tank tops either and are far more elegant and sophisticated than your traditional jersey cotton u neck tank tops. These sleeveless tank tops are true statement piece tank tops and are great ways to insert additional sophistication to your summer wardrobe.

For added contrast, consider another style of sleeveless floral tank top, the Surplice V Neck Tank Top in the bold Felix pattern.  This great tank top also from Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati features a gorgeous yellow background with a great black, orange, and blue floral pattern.  With a black accent around the top of the top in front and back, this top is great at giving you a sexy summer look. We love the empire waist making this tank super feminine.

As you can see, all of these tanks are great examples of distinctive floral patterns and gorgeous tank top styles in great colors that will be wonderful additions to your summer wardrobes.  Best of all each of them is completely distinctive so you won’t find them on all of your friends and you won’t find them at every other store.

Oversized Knitted Sweater

Having that perfect go to oversized knitted sweater has become an essential part of a good wardrobe.  I love having an easy to wear knit sweater that you can just throw on or take you as your just in case sweater when you aren’t sure if you’ll be warm enough. Finding a sweater that is oversized is also a current fashion trend that really does help create a relaxed sweater look that I love because it breaks up the monotony of the classic sweaters that you find in your closet.  The oversized sweater is a great way to rescue a tired, stuffy sweater wardrobe and update it.  Consider a few examples of ways to freshen up your sweater wardrobe with some oversized knitted sweater possibilities.

First consider a short sleeved sweater that is versatile enough and can work practically year round, the Laurie B. Gable Stripe Cardigan.  This oversized sweater features a dramatic contrasting zipper that is front and center in this distinctive cardigan, the Gable Stripe grey and black pattern looks so classy and elegant.  Laurie B. still manages to weave in fashion forward elements with the oversized dolman flared sleeves on this sweater, a scoop neckline and the contrasting black trim around the neckline and cuffs and hem.   You also would not believe how luxuriously soft the knit on this sweater feels.  It is made from a viscose, nylon blend and it feels super soft and very comfortable.  This is a great sweater to wear over that black dress in summer unzipped or just with a black skirt or pants and capris.  One of our favorite winter looks is wearing this over a long sleeve black top with a black skirt and boots.  As you can see, this is a great distinctive sweater that would be perfect to freshen up your sweater wardrobe.

Another distinctive sweater option is the Laurie B. Moonlight Cap Wrap Sweater.  You’ll love this distinctive sweater and its fashion forward look.  It is not for everyone, but if it suits your personal style it can be a great way to spice up your sweater wardrobe and has an oversized loose fitted look.  Complete with a flowing look of the wide v neck with the tie around the waist giving it a contemporary, fitted look.  This sweater is available in a variety of colors and is perfect to go over a long sleeve top in just about any color.  You’ll love the slight shimmer on the knit and the distinctive, modern look.   It is a perfect wrap to layer and looks stunning with boots or leggings.

Fashion Trend – Full Skirt

This season you are sure to see one of the latest fashion trends – full skirts.  The full skirt is a totally feminine way to wear a stylish skirt that is not only stylish, but also extremely comfortable.  A welcome addition to fashion trends, the comfortable skirt that is also flattering and feminine is something so popular that it is difficult to find such skirts in stock. Consider a few examples of this great fashion trend that have quickly become some of our favorite must have skirts this season.

First, consider the Lija Skirt.  This skirt by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer is truly a perfect blend of a classic style with contemporary details like the raw edge and the high waist.  The skirt of course flares which makes it a full skirt that also will make you feel girly and feminine on while also making it very comfortable and flattering.  This is a great “go to” skirt that can be worn out running errands on a weekend or with the right top and accessories dressed up and worn to a dressy occasion too.  Available in basic black, this skirt is a must have summer essential.  It is also a jersey cotton so it is comfortable and casual enough to literally go from day to night and is also machine washable to boot.

Similarly, the Fanya Skirt which is also by Velvet is another example of a great full skirt.  This skirt, however, is more than just a great classic flared skirt, because it also features a diagonal stripe pattern and an asymmetric hem and a diagonal line across the waist for accent.  The pattern shifts at this seam as well giving it a natural break and added distinction. In fact, the Fanya skirt is actually a great modern interpretation of the classic full skirt.  This skirt is made from a cotton tencel blend so it is the ultimate soft, comfortable fabric and easy to wear again for casual and dressy occasions depending on what you wear it with and how you accessorize it. I love the raw edges again at the hem and the stripe pattern that really does make this a distinctive skirt.  Best of all it is available in Night a navy/black stripe contrast, Highland a taupe/brown stripe and Green House a contrasting light green/dark green stripe pattern.

As you can see, both of these skirts are great examples of modern updates to a classic full skirt style that is also extremely wearable and by default also extremely comfortable with their wearable, comfortable fabrics and the natural fit of the full skirt style.  Obviously the Lija skirt has a more classic approach, but the asymmetrical line and the complementary stripe pattern which makes this skirt a great distinctive full skirt alternative.  Best of all both of these skirts are extremely versatile and can be worn to most casual and even certain dressy occasions with a number of different style of tops and accessories.

Mix and Match Prints

Mix and match prints are a tricky element to incorporate into your closet.  It can be a great way to incorporate patterns and distinction, but blending them together gets complicated and needs to be done conscientiously in order to be successful.  We should also add that they are not for the fashion faint of heart and should only be worn when you personally have the confidence and security to feel comfortable pulling them off.  There are, however, a few great designer pieces that are totally in fashion this season that do stylishly incorporate mix and match prints into these great pieces.

The first key to success with mixing and matching prints or finding pieces that successfully accomplish this mixing is great patterns. A good classic pattern that isn’t too much or too overbearing is a great way to start and can really make or break a pattern.   You can pair patterns, but you need at least one of them to be simpler or more muted than the other in order for it to work.   Whether they are stripes or floral patterns, mixing patterns can be a great way to showcase that fabulous piece while also giving each piece added depth and substance.

As an example of this, consider the Cherry Short Sleeve Dress by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  The beautiful floral pattern features electric blue, navy blue, teal blue and reds along with a contrasting tile pattern in back for added detail.  This dress of course features not just one pattern, but a combination of patterns and along with that features different shades of blue.  The contrasting patterns and colors give it lots of added options for accessories.  This dress is also versatile and since it is unlined and sheer, we love wearing it as a tunic pairing it with a blue tank and a pair of blue leggings.  The dress features a lightly plunging neckline and a brown tie around the waist for additional contrast.  This dress features a sheer silk cotton blend fabric that feels light and airy on which is of course an added benefit.

Another example would be the mixing of stripes in contrasting widths and dimensions.  You will see this more subtle mixing of prints and patterns that has become more popular and pervasive in modern fashion trends.  The Trinity Cowlneck Top also by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer is a great example of mixing smaller stripe patterns on the sleeves and sides of this top contrasted with a wider stripe in an alternate direction for added contrast.

As you can see, you may have to work a little harder to find pieces that successfully mix and match patterns, but it certainly can be done.  In addition, finding mix and match patterns in pieces already is a safer, easier way to find great designer styles while also incorporating fashion trends.  Finding such pieces is also a great way to really add distinction into your own individual style and wardrobe.

Minimalist Fashion Dress

When you are shopping for that perfect minimalist fashion dress there are truly a number of options for great dresses that feature minimalist styles, but don’t sacrifice their statement quality.  With simple details such as knots or zippers as accents, minimalist dresses can still have an edge or distinctive quality while being true to their minimalist design or style.

A few great examples of a minimalist fashion dress include the Burca Scoopneck Dress by Velvet by Graham and Spencer. This dress looks basic in black from the front and features just enough added detail to give this minimalist fashion dress a pop.   The back of this dress features a wide zipper that is prominently displayed in the center at the top of the back of this dress.  The zipper is a great way to add some shine and also give the piece an edgier feel, but it still has a subtlety to it that doesn’t interrupt the minimalist feel.  Zippers are actually becoming more and more popular this season, but yet thankfully are not overdone which makes them still a great statement detail.  The back of this dress also tapers toward the bottom of the dress and features a diagonal line to break up the back of the dress.  This dress looks amazing with high boots and can also work with leggings giving you the ability to wear this great dress practically year round.

Another great example of a minimalist fashion dress is the Zahara Knot Dress by Velvet.  This dress features baby jersey cotton with long sleeves and a knot at the base of the v neckline. The dress has a fluid look with a flared skirt that hits just above the knee.  A dress that works perfectly as a minimalist fashion dress because of its great classic fabric and simple dress style that is offset by the knot detail around the neckline to add a touch of sophistication to the dress.  This great minimalist dress is also available in black, grey, rain and lilypad so you have a variety of great options to go with this dress.

Finally, the Anais V Neck Dress by Velvet also features a simple, minimalist style, but you don’t have to sacrifice on the great classic style and look of this dress.   This great dress features elbow length sleeves and a gathered v neckline that is set off as an empire waist which adds to the elegant style of this fitted dress.  The dress is very fitted which gives you a chance to rock your great body if this style of dress works for your body type.  This dress is available in Eggplant, a deep purple with shades of blue in it.

As you can see, just because the dress is a minimalist fashion dress, it doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice style and trends to maintain the minimalist style.  Each of these dresses are minimalist fashion dresses, but they all have small elements that really do maintain that statement dress quality that we are always going for at Vintage Fringe.

Fashion Summer Trend – Fuchsia Color Block Dress

This summer color block dresses are a huge fashion trend.  You can find them in a number of colors, but tonight we are focusing on Fuchsia in particular.  For those of you who may be new to Color Block clothing styles it is a current trend to pair complementary colors with blocks of one color and then a block of another color or pattern .  This is also done with large blocks of solid fabric not stripes which is a key distinction.  Frequently, we have seen fuchsias blended with plum color tones or darker colors like blacks, blues or greys.

One of my favorite color block dresses in fuchsia is the Tie Short Dress by designer Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati.  Sweet Pea as a whole incorporates a variety of patterns and bold colors in distinctive, stylish ways.  She consistently designs pieces with lots of bold, bright patterns and offsets or complements them with accenting solid colors for trim or even as solid contrast color lining underneath.  In this case, the Tie Short dress features a bold fuchsia pink and brown floral pattern.  As contrast, she uses solid brown for the ties at the waist and in the bodice and around the neckline.  Breaking up the pattern with color block for this particular style dress adds a bit of simplicity and elegance to the bold pattern which in turn creates a bold, more feminine look.  This dress features a gorgeous floral pattern with lots of color and fuchsia, purples, and coral and orange colors with brown weaved in.

Sweet Pea also designed a gorgeous top with Fuchsia color blocking around the neckline for added contrast, the Bell Sleeve Top features solid Fuchsia contrasted with a black and fuchsia scroll pattern.  This top is a great way to wear Fuchsia and we love the style of this top.  The v neck accented by the color block Fuschia and then the bell sleeves that add a bit of flair to this top.  Sweet Pea features a lot of Fuchsia in their patterns and their pieces are all so figure flattering and feminine.

Color blocking is a great way to make a dress look more slimming and can also break up a simple or drab dress or top with a bold pop of color. Particularly in the summer season, bold colors are a fashion trend all on their own.  Color blocks are a great way to invoke a retro look, or at a minimum a distinctive look into classic or traditionally styled pieces.  This season bold colors will be very popular and bright colors are great accent colors for added contrast.

As you can see, there are a number of great ways to incorporate color blocking and in particular to incorporate fuchsia into great styled pieces.  No matter what your personal preferences are you will find a number of great options that incorporate one of this season’s popular fashion trends – color blocking and with an added bonus in fuchsia.

Minimal White Dress

Now that we are safely past the Memorial Day deadline about wearing white, it is a perfect time to shop for the perfect white dress.  Of course many people choose not to follow the wear white only between Memorial Day and Labor Day, but I must admit that I still do stick to that rule.

If you are looking for a great minimal white dress, look no further than the Freda Gathered Waist dress by Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  The Freda dress features a gorgeous v neck complemented by a gathered waist and flared skirt.  The gathered waist does really do a great job of separating the top of the dress from the flared skirt to give it a very classic style dress.  It has an elegant vintage feel that looks like it just walked out of an Audrey Hepburn movie.  It also reminds us a bit of the dress Kate Middleton wore in her engagement photos, although in a different color.  The white dress is a stunning color and the color alone transforms practically any dress into a classy statement dress.  The dress is also lined with an added layer of baby jersey cotton fabric which is so helpful with a white dress to ensure that it isn’t too sheer.

If you are looking for a minimal white dress with some hints of color or contrasting pattern to it, consider the Chapel Dress by Velvet.  This gorgeous dress is an example of a classy yet bold statement dress featuring a black and white or a red and white pattern.  Part of Velvet’s Spanish Tile collection, naturally this dress features a tile pattern and a gorgeous fitted style with a v neck and a subtle knot at the center of the v neck.  This dress hits just at or below the knee and features short sleeves. Here white is the primary color accented by either a black or red tile pattern.  This dress has a simple fitted style and is a good minimalist white dress with pops of contrast color and pattern.

There are so many options for ways to incorporate white dresses into your closet.  If you still haven’t fournd something that interests you, there is always the option of utilizing a solid white top or skirt to accent  with contrasting colored or patterned pieces and accessories.   Personally, I love wearing the Freda dress in White with bold accessories in black or red whether it be boots, big chunky necklaces, or the right belt to accent the waist.    In that sense, the white dress has so many versatile options and gives you a number of options to wear it with great accessories and shoes.

A few final rules of thumb to think about with the white dress option, you want to make sure that it is not too sheer, that it gives you options for a variety of ways to accessorize it and of course that it fits you well to give you that confidence to wear it.
