Sweet {and a bit sassy} Summer Dresses

Friday, June 18th, 2010

So, its official, its the middle of June and it is summer. I for one, love the cool, stylish, and comfortable look of dresses and skirts. For me, they can be way more comfortable, and so easy to through on the go. Not to mention that they can go from beach, to dinner, to errands so effortlessly with a change of shoes and accessories. Ella Moss makes gorgeous dresses, and I especially love the detail on the Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress.

Ok, so forgive me for another black dress, but I am just loving the basic black with detail dresses. Also, this dress does come in brown and in case you haven’t heard, brown is super in this summer. Just check out your local MAC counter to see all the new nude and brown make-up. Don’t you love the back of this Modal Jersey Scoop Neck Dress by Splendid, so cute right?? The length is perfect and the cut is comfortable, yet sexy.

So here is some color for you, I love the cheery sunshine yellow and the gray details of the Blaire Widesleeve Crew Dress by Ella Moss.I think it would look fabulous with teal and gold accessories. This dress is super easy to just throw on and be ready, it would be great with wedges or flats and also comes in a great navy blue that is dead on with the nautical trend.

Finding Fashion at the Beach

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Don’t worry I am not talking about swimsuits just yet {prepare yourselves, the time is coming soon} but rather the cute things we wear on top of swimsuits. Since it isn’t quite full blown summer just yet any swim outing will probably require some sort of cover up and depending on the type of gal you are you might always require a swim cover up so lets look at some fashionable, versatile, and comfortable options.

Ella Moss Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress

Ok, first we have the full coverage of a maxi dress, which is super flattering for most body types. I love this Ella Moss Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress because it is casual enough for the beach yet elegant enough for a night out. I love pieces that can work for lots of occasions and this dress surly does that. Imagine it with aviator sunglasses,  beaded gladiator sandals and a bright yellow bag-cute!

Sweet Pea Sleeveless Empire Waist Dress

If you want something that shows a little more leg, try this ultra cute Sweet Pea Sleeveless Empire Waist Dress. Again the empire waist is a flattering cut that hides imperfections, and can easily transition from beach to going out. This dress can completely change looks with different accessories.

Sweet Pea Tunic U Neck Top

Sweet Pea Tunic U Neck Top

For those of you that are daring enough to show a  bit more leg, I love this Sweet Pea Tunic U Neck Top, perfect for throwing on over white jeans right after a fun day at the beach. The bold black and white print is classy yet youthful.

So what is your cover up style? Less is more? Or more is more?

What Makes a Dress Perfect for Spring??

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Like the flowers and buds in my front yard Spring Dresses are in bloom everywhere.  But as I sort my closet this spring I decided to create some criteria for what exactly qualifies a dress to be perfect for Spring.

First Fabric:  Spring is light and airy not thick and structured so the perfect spring dress needs to be a light fabric.  A great example of a lush fabric for spring is Splendid’s Modal Jersey V-Neck Dress.

Modal Jersey V Neck Dress from Splendid

This adorable dress can always be paired with leggings on the colder days, but it is a perfect choice for the spring dress.  I especially love the sleeves on this dress they are long and whimsical.

The second criteria for the perfect spring dress is color, I am particular to the pinks and greens for spring time this year.

Aggie B Neck Ruffle Dress

Aggie B Neck Ruffle Dress

While I love this Aggie V Neck Ruffle Dress dress for any season I think the emerald green is especially hot this spring.  The sleeveless detail also makes it a great spring or summer dress.  Also good to mention Ella Moss designed this dress with enough attention to detail you’ll never have to worry the dress is fully lined and hits just above the knee.

The final critieria I came up with for the perfect summer dress was the sleeves: short sleeved or sleeveless both scream spring to me.

This Ella Moss designer dress has widesleeved cap sleeves with a crew neck detail.  I love love love the pleats by the sleeves and the keyhole neckline.  While the model is wearing this dress in the admiral (navy) and White combo Ella Moss also designed it  in Lemonade (yellow) with Grey contrast.

Color Obsession: Yellow

Monday, April 12th, 2010

With spring comes warmer weather and lighter and brighter colored clothes. I love all the bright and cheery colors and this season I am especially loving the sunshine yellow that seems to be showing up everywhere. This color is great for tops, skirts, dresses, shoes, handbags, where ever you want to add a pop of color. This Heart Button Cardigan by Joy Joy is so sweet and with 3/4 length sleeves it is the perfect piece for spring and cool summer nights.

If you live in a warmer climate or are just looking for something more summery, try the Hollie Crew Top by Ella Moss. The lace detail around the neckline really adds some interest to the basic and comfortable shape of this top. I’d pair it will white skinny jeans, metallic sandals, and a jean jacket for weekend errands or strolls at the beach.

Lastly, the Jocelyn Puffsleeve Boatneck Top by Ella Moss is perfect in lemonade yellow. The added interest of the white circles keeps this cute and simple top fresh for summer. Imagine this with denim bermuda shorts and white wedges, perfect for lunch with the ladies!

Versatile Tops at Vintage Fringe

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

As things finally start to warm up outside, I thought I would finally do a blog about some of my favorite tops and designers that I am wearing these days to look fashionable in this transitional weather.  I love layering and since it is still a little too cold to wear tanks and short sleeves in Colorado I have found this tank works great over a basic long sleeve scoop neck.

Tie Tank by La Bafana

This tie tank is perfect for layering or wearing alone.  I also love its sister tank which is the same style, but with an adorable polka dot pattern.

Hampton Widesleeve Scoop Neck by Ella Moss

I’ve been wearing this Hampton widesleeve scoop neck top by Ella Moss with jeans all over the place lately.  The scoop neck with the empire waist tie allows this top to be loose but also flattering at the same time.  I also love this deep crimson color. I tend to pair this top with Splendid’s Very Light Jersey Draped Cardigan in white.

This jersey cardigan comes in coffee (brown), white, black, and parsley (green).  It is super comfortable and perfect to add a little extra warmth on a chilly spring night.

These are just some of my favorite tops lately, you can see these tops and more at Vintage Fringe.

Easter Dresses are at Vintage Fringe

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Easter dresses were as much a tradition in my family as decorating Easter eggs.  Now that I am older- the egg hunts may be over for me but I still love finding that perfect Easter dress to wear to church on Easter Sunday.  In my opinion there are some key elements to any Easter dress you wear.  First the color of your dress must be bright, and second your dress has to scream spring.  Below are some of my picks for the perfect Easter dress.

Splendid Modal Jersey V Neck Dress

Splendid Modal Jersey V Neck Dress

I love this V Neck Dress from Splendid in the color blueberry (purple) for an Easter dress.   I love love love this modal jersey fabric this dress is made from because it is machine washable, ultra soft, and extremely flattering.  Also check out the empire waiste, v-neck detail and those cute short sleeves.

Ella Moss Dita V Neck Ruffle Dress

This V Neck Ruffle Dress is a perfect choice for Easter.  This dress is all about the tiny details like the ruffled neckline and ruching on the empire waist line which takes this classically constructed dress into a whole new level of design.  This dress will be a favorite of yours for years to come.   I should also mention that Ella Moss designs this dress in shadow (purple pictured about) and pond (green).

Ella Moss Odessa V Neck Dress

Long dresses are a major trend this season, and this Odessa Dress designed by Ella Moss could also double as a great Easter dress.  I love the pleaded detail on this dress along with the empire waistband.  View this dress and many more designer dresses at Vintage Fringe and Happy Easter!!!

All About Head Gear

Friday, March 19th, 2010

No, I don’t mean the 1980’s kind that you wore with your braces at night, I am talking about the hot, hot, trend of headbands! Headbands are everywhere right now, Gossip Girl is obsessed with them, designers are pairing them with their runway looks, and every store from Target to Saks carries them. So, if you haven’t tried them yet, now is the time! They are so chic and simple to add to just about any outfit. {not to mention they make ponytail days look instantly glam!} With bows, feathers, flowers, rhinestones and more there is sure to be something that fits with everyone’s style and the best part is that no matter if you have short, long, or even no hair, a headband is going to look cute! Here are several different headbands to get you started with rocking this look. First, is this super cute striped bow, it is girly, but not too much with a men’s wear inspired print. Don’t be afraid to rock these stripes with a patterned shirt, mixing prints is very in right now. I won’t tell you the insane price of this little number, but it is very affordable so no worries if you only use it every so often.

Secondly, is this sweet little Rose Buddy headband. I love the look of the rose buds, they are small enough to not make a massive statement, but big enough to notice and add some fringe to your outfit of chouice. This lovely band comes in an array of colors, making it easy to choose one that suites you!

Ok, so I wanted to share one of my favorite feather headbands next, but I just couldn’t pass up sharing this gorgeous Camryn band. I just love the bright color and detail on this one. Imagine it with a coral colored top and white jeans for summer, so cute! True Birds has loads of cute head gear, they would be a good place to start if you are new to this trend.

Now go out there and rock this look! Be confidant, you will look amazing, trust me. And if you are looking for some fashion to match, check out Vintage Fringe for all your clothing needs! {or wants, or desires}
