Spring Color Trend: Jade

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Spring colors are always a welcomed thing to me, the darkness of winter is exchanged for bright, sunny, and what I call “happy” colors. Last fall, Chanel used a jade color nail polish on their models on the runway and launched an obsession with the color at the same time. Jade, or green is a great color for most people, you just have be be careful with the shade and tone of it, making sure it works for your skin tone. For spring i am loving this Tie Waist Hoodie from Spendid, perfect for a swimsuit{don’t worry we aren’t quite there yet} cover-up, a dress with leggings and boots, or as shown over jeans. It is very versatile and the perfect spring color!

Another great top in a slightly different shade of green is the Hamptom Hoodie by Ella Moss. I love the all the details and of course the green shade, which could easily go with so many other colors and patterns. It has a very relaxed look that is perfect for spring, especially with the longer sleeves for a bit more warmth, but in a lighter cotton that could transition to summer nights effortlessly.

Vintage Fringe has so many other really pretty and interesting tops in a shade of green, don’t forget that you can shop their site by color, love that! Now go have some fun and put on something other then black!

The best looks for right NOW

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Spring trends are on everyone’s mind, {lets be honest, most stores are rolling out swim suits this month!}but spring could be a ways off for some of you, so here are some looks that I love for right NOW. As mentioned in this post, ruffles are in and I love the chic gray color and slimming wrap detail of this Potina Top by Velvet by Graham and Spencer. Paired with dark denim and a headband accessory and the look is fresh and oh so appropriate for february weather. {I think I would love this top even more if I was holding the Borrealis bag, the colors would be so pretty with the gray of this top!}

Another look that I am loving is the slouchy, loose fitting boyfriend look, like this Boyfriend Buttonup by Splendid. This shirt exudes that laid back style, I love pairing it with lots of necklaces as shown for some unexpected glamour. As always, I love a good riding boot and this black pair complement and complete the entire look. If this isn’t quite warm enough yet, no worries just layer a bomber jacket, or long cardigan over it!

And lastly, for those of us that “winter” never really comes {I live in San Diego, don’t hate me!} this Ellasentials Cardigan Smock by Ella Moss is perfect. The shortened sleeve, open front and details at the shoulders and back all add charm to this closet staple. I love how this cardigan can eaisly be great for anything from running around town with the kiddos or dressed up for an evening out.

Trend Alert: Long Dresses are Back!!!

Thursday, February 4th, 2010
Kate Hudson, Kristen Bell, and Carrie Underwood looking sexy in thier summer dresses

Kate Hudson, Kristen Bell, and Carrie Underwood looking sexy in their summer dresses

Maxi dresses and other long flowing dresses are going to be back in a big way for spring and summer this year, and we all should be glad they are.  Maxi dresses are comfortable and flattering, allowing you to look sexy and feminine without sucking it in or living in fear afraid of accidentally showing  your underwear.  While the perfect summer dress should be long (I recommend that the maxi dress should hit just at or a smidge below your ankle) and flowing it is also important to pick a dress that looks casual enough that you don’t look like you are prepping for prom in the middle of the afternoon.  Below are some of my favorite long dresses.

This adorable maxi dress designed by Ella Moss encompasses everything I love about this trend.  The Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress is made of ultra soft and ultra comfortable supima cotton.  I also love the detail around the neck. This dress with a perfectly designed empire waist manages to be flattering as well as flowing which will be the perfect look this spring and summer.

If you are looking for a little more color I  love the Odessa V Neck Maxi Dress also designed by Ella Moss.

One reason I would steer readers looking for the perfect maxi dress towards Ella Moss is the great fabric choices for these dresses.   This super soft v-neck  dress is something I can see myself wearing everyday this summer.  I also love how the large v-neck allows for some adorable accessorizing.  This blue color is called waterfall and will surely make a pop in your wardrobe this summer.

Trend Alert: Accessories

Monday, February 1st, 2010
Navigating the maze of accessories can be tough, here are a few no-fail tricks that work to jazz up any outfit. One of my favorite things to do{and celebrities rock this all the time} is to add a pop of color somewhere to an outfit. It could be a handbag, a necklace, a shoe, anything really.  Here is a great example of a simple jeans and top {a fabulous top at that, its Sweet Peaby Staci Frati Ruffle Sleeve Bib Top} with a pop of color in the shoe. The bright purple is fun and unexpected-love this look!
Sweet Pea by Staci Fragti top and a pop of color in the heels.

Another hot accessory trend is an over-sized clutch. What girl doesn’t love an over-sized bag?? This look is so functional and fashionable, love that combo don’t you?? This look clearly has a pop of color in the pants, and a busy print in the Keelin Squareneck Lace Top by Velvet so the neutral black and brown accessories are spot on. Notice how the clutch is black and the bangles are brown, don’t be afraid to mix!
Oversized clutch with bangles in neutrals.

And lastly, something that I like to call the three B’s: Boots, belt and bangles. Boots have been major for the past several seasons and there are no signs of that slowing down. They can instantly add some rock-n-roll, retro, classy, or cowboy to your look. Belts are are great way to create a waist, and can even work great to camouflage a waist when wore when a blousy top. Bangles are so easy to throw on and it seems that ‘the more the merrier’ trend with them is still going strong. So don’t be afraid to stack them up! I love how all three of these accessories jazz up this simple{yet beautiful} black tunic dress by Ella Moss. Again notice the pewter on the belt and the gold bangles, mixing these is ok and looks chic, don’t be afraid to try it!

Red Carpet Ruffles for Everyday

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

While Red Carpet fashion isn’t something I wear on a daily basis…I do try to see what celebrities pick to wear and glean some fashion trends from them.  This year the fashion magazines and I agree the major trend was ruffles.  Romantic Ruffles were  everywhere on the red carpets of the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.  Below are my favorite best dressed celebrities and my own everyday translation to their style.

First the Golden Globes and the beautiful and every elegant Diane Kruger in a ruffled Pink gown by Christian Lacroix.

I first started noticing Diane Kruger when she played the face who launched a thousand ships as Helen in Troy.  Since then she has proven she has impeccable taste, especially on the red carpet.  I love this vibrant pink color which will no doubt be perfect for fall.  My everyday translation of this style and dress is this 4 Tiered Ruffle Tank by Sweet Pea.

Sweet Pea’s signature lightweight and flowing fabric in this fuchsia color is a perfect everyday version of Diane’s red carpet look.  This ruffled tank can easily be dressed up or down and will make everyone look glamorous and trendy for spring.

My other favorite red carpet look was Glee’s very own Lea Michele and her green goddess dress designed by Catherine Malandrino

This plunging ruffled v-neck gown was gorgeous and oh so daring.  My interpretation or should I say translation of this red carpet look is the Aggie V-Neck Ruffle Dress in chive  by Ella Moss.

You can always count on Ella Moss to design fun and flirty designer dresses for spring.  While the v-neck is not as plunging as Lea’s red carpet gown that is probably a good thing.  This shorter striped dress has a wonderfully flattering empire waist and slanted stripe detail that is oh so flattering.  Win your own best dressed awards with these styles and more available at VintageFringe.

Ella Moss and Velvet Go Neutral

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Nude colors just aren’t for your bras and underwear anymore.  Neutrals, buffs, and nudes are all over the place this spring.  For many of you fair fashionistas a nude color palette may be something you think is not at all flattering for your fair complexion.  So here are a few of my suggestions on how to wear nude and not  get washed out.

Velvet's Freda Gathered Dress in Fog

Velvet's Freda Gathered Waist Dress in Fog

Instead of matching your new wardrobe with your foundation colors instead look to incorporate subtle neutrals to your wardrobe.  For those especially fair ladies  make sure you pick a neutral hue that doesn’t bring out the yellow undertones in your skin.  A perfect example of this is Velvet’s  Freda Gathered dress in the “fog” color.  This very neutral almost lavender color is great for the fair ladies who can get easily washed out in other colors.  This fog color introduced by Velvet will highlight the pinks in your skin tone.  I also really love how this neutral color with a hint of gray really makes the model’s blue eyes pop.

To follow the fashion trend of nudes and neutrals you don’t always have to wear all nude.  This cute nude and white striped shirt by Ella Moss is adorable and allows you to accessorize with bold colors which is oh so perfect for spring.  I love how Ella Moss added a neutral stripe to this puffsleeve front tie top which adds a bit a flair to an already trendy top.  This top also has elastic in the sleeves and the waist which gives you a perfectly tailored look.

These designer looks are sure be strong this spring, and don’t forget at Vintage Fringe you can always shop by color or designer.

Fashionable Essentials for Fall: The Dress

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Dresses are always a fashion essential, but this season a dress that can be worn with boots is so essential!  In this post we wanted to highlight a couple of excellent examples of how to rock great dresses with boots.   First, the elegant and classic dress that pairs perfectly with boots is the Kiki Front Tie Dress by Ella Moss. This dress falls just above the knee so it is the perfect length for knee high boots. I also love the look of the layers of this dress, especially with boots on.  The dress comes in slate (grey) and vanilla (ivory) which means this dress fits with any wardrobe whether you have brown boots or black.  This dress will undoubtedly become a statement piece for any wardrobe.

To prove how truly versatile boots have become this fall, my second pick for a essential fall dress is the Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress from Ella Moss. This long designer dress is a great choice for fall.  Ella Moss’s Maxi dress shows why long dresses have come back in style.  The beautiful lace like knit detail around the neckline along with the racerback and empire waist makes this dress elegant and distinctive, but also classic and simple. What is hard to show in a picture is how incredibly soft this supima fabric is. I love pairing this dress as pictured with cowboy boots. This dress will work any season, but is especially fun to wear in the fall.

These are just two of dozens of designer dresses at Vintage Fringe, some of which are on sale and better yet some of which are in the outlet.

Fall Essential Styles: Ella Moss Ellasentials Cardigan

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Ellassential Cardigan by Ella Moss

As the temperature begins to cool make sure and update your wardrobe by getting this fall’s “essentials” for anyones wardrobe: a cardigan. Lighter and softer than a thick winter coat a cardigan is a soft and fashionable way to add versatility and layers to your look.  One of my favorite cardigans at Vintage Fringe is the Ellassential Cardigan Smock by Ella Moss.  This Cardigan has ruching around the neckline which adds a fitted flattering shape to the cardigan.  I also absolutely love this deep purple color and the soft and beautiful feel of the supima cotton/modal blend.  Ella Moss as usual delivers a look that is both trendy and classic.  This cardigan is a must have now and will continue to be a great asset to everyone’s wardrobe.  Best yet this cardigan is machine washable so no expensive dry cleaning bills.  To see this cardigan or any other style essentials visit Vintage Fringe.com.

Ella Moss Favorites

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Picking just one Ella Moss favorite for us is like picking your favorite pair of shoes.  It’s too hard to name just one!  Lately though, we’ve fallen in love with the Hampton Hoodie from designer Ella Moss.  What is it that makes it a favorite for us?  Well for starters the fabric.  It features that great Supima cotton / Modal mix which makes it ultra soft and luxurious.  We always look for luxurious fabrics when scouring designer clothing, and Ella Moss routinely has such fabulous fabrics.

We also love the feminine details or  “fringe” on this top too.  From top to bottom this Ella Moss top is loaded with feminine accents with the contrasting cotton around the collar and the shoulders, the rolled up sleeves complete with the button and cotton loop to hold the rolled up sleeve in place, and of course we can’t forget the gathered sides at the bottom of the top to name a few.

All of these details make your basic hoodie into a super hip and feminine top.   We also love this top because it is so versatile.  It is perfect to throw over that short sleeve top or tank during warmer weather and also a great top for fall when things start to cool down.  We wear this top all the time as it is just perfect to throw on with your favorite pair of jeans.  We love this top as shown in Emerald Green.    So many of these lovable details are true for so many Ella Moss dresses and tops.   This is just one of our latest Ella Moss favorites.  What’s yours?
