Stripes in Fashion

Friday, May 21st, 2010

When fashion finds something that works for everyone, the trend tends to stay around and this year stripes have gone from fall, to spring and now summer. I am loving how the chic, laid back style of stripes can work for just about any occasion. Check out this Alexander McQueen striped dress, made famous by the ever stylish Rihanna.

If you don’t have this dress in your closet {its sold out} try this Splendid Slub Shadow Stripe Waist Tie Top in navy/red combo. {It’s shown here in green/red} It would be a great piece for spring and summer and could easily be worn with shorts, capris, or leggings.

Another great look for summer is black and white small stripes. Seen here on Sienna Miller is a Chanel version of this trend.

I feel like my closet just has too much Chanel in it, {you probably feel the same way right??} so I have opted for this more understated Laurie B. Gable Stripe Cardigan. I love the zipper detail and the wide sleeves are ultra flattering.

If you haven’t tried stripes, now is the time! They are oh so chic and are so adaptable to most any look. Have a fabulous weekend!

Trendy Tanks from Sweet Pea by Staci Frati

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

I might be jumping the gun a bit to already be blogging about tank tops, but the weather is so beautiful today, I am feeling the need to feature some adorable designer tanks designed by Sweet Pea.  Sweet Pea’s vivid patterns are a signature look at any time of the year but especially spring/summer these bold colors will help any gal stand out- in the best kind of way.

Sleeveless Front Tie Top by Sweet Pea

This Sleeveless Front Tie Top is adorable and the cut is really flattering on everyone.  I also really love this print- it is a dark navy background.  The neck ties make it fully adjustable and allows you to decide how to adjust the neckline.  As always this top is in Sweet Pea’s trademark mesh-nylon.

This solid blue 4-Tier  Ruffle Tank by Sweet Pea is favorite of mine.  While sweet pea mostly designs bold prints, this tank comes in solid blue (rain) or fuschia (cranapple).  I love how the 4-tiered ruffles makes this tank simple but trendy and feminine.  This tank is a perfect to stand alone piece but also looks great paired with a cardigan (see below).

How to update your wardrobe for spring

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Everyone wants to look fashionable, or their best no matter what the climate, and even in a tough economy you can update your look for spring with just a few pieces. This spring, as usual, we are being hit with loads of trends and fads, i suggest picking a few that work for you, your lifestyle, your body type and going with those. The three trends that I am loving are prints and over-sized florals, sleeves, and black and white. First the prints and over-sized florals, what a fun eye-popping trend. Go bold here and remember to not go too over the top, keeping accessories simple can help avoid that. This Sleeveless Front Tie Tank Top by Sweet Pea is perfect for spring and perfect for this trend. Imagine a boyfriend blazer on top of it for the office and then let is stand alone for a night out-love that!

Next is sleeves, most people tend to think that warmer weather means less sleeves, but this year you will find lots of options that offer chic coverage. Sleeves are oh so flattering, especially the flouncy versions found this spring. A great option to try this trend is the Keelin Squareneck Lace Top by Velvet.{bonus, it just happen to be in a print, two trends for the price of one!}

Lastly is the stark contrast of black and white. I love this trend because it is so versatile and easy to incorporate in any wardrobe. Bold color accessories look great with black and white and stripes, patterns, shirts, dresses, sweaters and more can all be done in this trend. I am loving this Gable Stripe Cardigan by Laurie B.The bold black an white stripes are right on and the exposed zipper adds a bit of edge, not to mention that the cut is ultra flattering.

Spring is such a fun time of year, the fabulous weather, and more sunshine are wonderful and they are even more wonderful when enjoyed in these chic clothes! Head on over to Vintage Fringe for all these looks and more!

What to Wear on St. Patrick’s Day

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

This Wednesday Irish or not so Irish it’s probably in your best interest to wear green.  I am still trying to decide just how festive I want to look for a St. Patty’s day party this weekend.  Just in case anyone else is still trying to pick your outfit out.  Below are some of my favorites to choose from.

Laurie B. Emmy Cardigan Sweater in Kelly Green

Laurie B. Emmy Cardigan Sweater in Kelly Green

This Cardigan Sweater is designed by Laurie B. and is the sweater I receive the most compliments on.  I love how it snaps at the neck and then slits open for a cardigan feel.   The pocket detail and long length makes this sweater so comfortable and easy to wear.   I always pair this sweater with the Zooey long sleeve crew neck in white. Considering this sweater is now in the outlet- it’s a steal of a deal. Maybe the luck  of the Irish.

The other shirt I am considering for St. Patrick’s day is this Victoria Front Tie Top designed by Ella Moss.

Ella Moss Victoria Front Tie Top

There are so many details I love about this top.  First I love the ruffles at the neck line and the cuffs.  This flirty top is made of Ella Moss’s modal fabric which is super durable and the ultimate in comfort.

Some of you celebrating St. Patrick’s Day may want to dress it up.  For a dressy night on the town I would suggest the Aggie V Neck Ruffle Dress.

This empire waist dress is so adorable and so unique you will definitely stand out as the best dressed in the crowd.  I love how fun and playful yet flattering the stripes are on this dress.  St. Patty’s Day or not you will be sure to gave good luck the night you wear this dress.  For any other St. Patrick’s day inspirations just visit VintageFringe.com and search by color.  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!

Laurie B.'s Moonlight Cap Sweater

Laurie B.'s Moonlight Cap Sweater

Gable Stripe Cardigan by Laurie B.

Gable Stripe Cardigan by Laurie B.

Laurie B.’s designer knitwear is perhaps one of the most distinctive of all of the designers available at Vintage Fringe.  The American knitwear line: Laurie B. is the creation of Laurie Brazeau.  Laurie was born in Mexico, raised in the United States and traveled the world searching for work and inspiration.  After working for years in Paris as a private label designer she returned home and launched her own knit line Laurie B. working from her own home in Oakland, California.  While Laurie Brazeau has no formal design school training she has managed to build her brand and her style into a recognizable icon for knitwear internationally.  Laurie B. credits her international travels, vintage shopping skills, and her color outside the lines mentality as her inspiration behind her one of a kind designer styles.  I am continually amazed at how Laurie B. continues to design knitwear far out of the traditional sweater box you usually see knitwear in.  Above are some of my favorite Laurie B. designer but there are much more at Vintage Fringe, and don’t forget you can always shop by designer at VintageFringe.com.

Must Have Fall Cardigan Sweaters and Wraps

Monday, September 21st, 2009
Laurie B. Moonlight Cap Sweater

Laurie B. Moonlight Cap Wrap Sweater

Cardigans and wraps are all the rage this fall and why shouldn’t they be?  They are the perfect complement over long sleeve tops in the fall and winter and we love to wear them over tanks from spring until fall.  No one designs feminine wraps and cardigans better than Laurie B.  At Vintage Fringe, we love Laurie B. sweaters because they are so flattering and versatile.  Dressed for day or glammed up for night you can always layer in style with her fabulous designs.  Most people think sweaters are only for winter because they are so bulky and unflattering, but Laurie B. is the queen of turning knits into fashionable feminine looks that you can wear early fall through to winter.

One of my favorite sweaters by Laurie B. is the Moonlight Cap Sweater.  This Wrap has a one of a kind cut that makes it different than any wrap you have seen before.  I also love how this sweater is short sleeved, I still pair it with a white long sleeved shirt, but I really enjoy the warmth of a sweater wrap without the weight that sleeves on a sweater can add.

Laurie B. Rumba Cardigan

Laurie B. Rumba Cardigan

Another great choice from Laurie B. is the Rumba Puff Sleeve Sweater.  This sweater is lightweight and really doesn’t look like a sweater at all.  It’s beautiful gathered detailed V-neck on the front and long length make it a classic one of a kind sweater.  This knit is really so lightweight you could start wearing it now.  These sweaters and other designer sweaters are available at Vintage Fringe.  Hurry and get yours today while supplies last!
