We love hoodies also known as hooded tops and we love that the hoodie element has found its way into a variety of tops and sweaters this season. You may be looking for specific styles of hoodies such as hooded cardigans or hooded sweaters, hoodies with different sleeve lengths such as long or ¾ length or even short sleeves, but we suggest having a variety of different style hooded tops that give you a variety of options and distinctive ways to wear them and incorporate them into your wardrobe. One of our most popular designers of hoodies at Vintage Fringe is Splendid. We wanted to highlight a few great hoodie alternatives from Splendid in this article.
Take a look at the Textured Rib Long Sleeve Hoodie by Splendid. This is one of the dressier hoodies we’ve seen as this hoodie is made of a cotton cashmere blend giving it a light weight sweater feel. It is sheer enough that it works perfectly layered over a short sleeve top or tank and we even like to wear it over a long sleeve tee in the winter. Alternatively, the French Terry Hooded Jacket by Splendid is made from their French terry with lycra fabric blend. It feels luxuriously soft and is a great top for layering and active wear. We love wearing it with Splendid’s French Terry with Lycra pants to the gym or yoga studio. With a tie at the waist with belt loops to hold the tie in place you can wear this cardigan loose or fitted depending on your preference. Of course the hood gives it a more casual look, but it also takes a basic top and gives it a modern twist.
To really mix it up with different styles of hoodies consider the Baby Fleece Tie Waist Hoodie also by Splendid, a wonderful example of a simple yet very distinctive style from Splendid. With Christmas almost here lets not forget about a comfy, cozy, and of course fashionable outfit for Christmas morning. You know pictures will be taken and who wants reindeer fleece pants to be what we are remembered as wearing for 2010? Can Thanksgiving really be over?? Winter is upon us ladies and it is time to embrace our cozy and warm sweaters. November is almost here and with it comes even colder weather and the need for warm and chic fashion. I love jackets because they keep us warm and are so easy to button up and look put together instantly. A great jacket with a funky vibe is the Bomber Jacket by Zooey Clothing. It is so cute with the exaggerated collar, front pockets, and short hem. This would be so cute with jeans as shown, or with a pencil skirt and sparkly top for a night out.

Fall fashion is so much fun, I have been loving the opportunity to wear sweaters, boots, and scarfs. One of my favorite brands for sweaters is Splendid. They are perfectly soft, comfortable, easy to layer and just all around pretty and well designed pieces. If you aren’t familiar with Splendid{or even if you are!}, check out three of my top choices for your fall wardrobe:

The 1×1 8 Button Cardigan is just perfect for cool fall days, I love that it comes black, navy or pink and is equally cute button up or open. With its longer length this is the perfect piece to throw on over leggings and boots.
Rayon Slub Jersey Cardigan by Splendid
I love the ease of the Rayon Slub Jersey Cardigan. The rolled sleeves and comfortable cut make this a go to item for all types of events and weather. Clearly it is super cute belted, but it is also great just left open showing off a bit of your favorite tank or camisole.

Ok lastly, I am such a fan of this 1×1 Pocket Cardigan, I totally love sweater vests because they are the easiest thing to throw over a not so cute top and look polished. We love Splendid clothing and Splendid shirts are certainly no exception. What distinguishes Splendid from many other clothing lines is their use of great, soft and seemingly luxurious fabrics in great comfortable, wearable styles. With classic colors and a mix of stripes and patterns, Splendid really does have a wide variety of unique and distinctive pieces that are wearable and still great statement pieces. Here are a few of our favorite Splendid shirts:
Boyfriend Stripe Button-up shirt – This top typifies Splendid’s casual yet statement piece style. This top features a sheer crinkled cotton fabric blend with a long button-up basic top. It may sound simple, but the fabric lends itself to a variety of options that you can work with to craft your own individual style. We love the look of this top unbuttoned and tied around the waist creating a resort look. Not to mention that you can also dress this top up or down over a tank and wear it to work or out for a night on the town. At Vintage Fringe, we love the color combination of the blue with black stripes.
Cardigans – Splendid’s great fabrics make their cardigans must haves. They have managed to take simple designs and make them so distinctive with a few additional finishes. For example, take their 1×1 8 Button Cardigan. We love the long length and the fitted waist, but love love love the look of the 8 white buttons and the deep v neck look of this cardigan. They even did it again with their 1×1 Pocket Cardigan. With a similar style to the 8 Button Cardigan, the Pocket Cardigan features short sleeves and pockets in front. We also love the formal yet casual look of their Cotton Stripe Cardigan with a tie at the waist. With a contrasting stripe in ivory and red this cardigan looks great paired with skirts and boots either open or using the tie around the waist. Splendid utilizes this same style with more of a sweatshirt type fabric in the amazingly soft French Terry with Lycra Hooded Jacket. This top is a great piece over your workout clothes or even just with jeans and a t shirt on the weekends. The fabric is super soft and feels so luxurious on that it is tempting to get one in both colors available at Vintage Fringe.
Boatneck Tops – We have a few favorites here as well. Splendid has a variety of options for boatneck tops which is of course a classic Splendid style. The Rayon Slub Jersey Boatneck features a wide boatneck, ¾ length sleeves and a fitted waist. Available in basic black, the rayon slub jersey fabric makes it feel anything but basic. Similar in style to this boatneck top, is the 4 Band Long Sleeve Boatneck top featuring Splendid’s classic 4 Band stripe pattern in white. We love this top available at Vintage Fringe in Navy or Mud (light brown) with a lighter weight modal jersey fabric this top is comfortable and still stylish.
As you can see, we love Splendid shirts and these are literally just the tip of the iceberg on their great styles and designs. The combination of great fabrics and style with a hint of edginess make Splendid shirts a must have for every wardrobe.

Fall and winter fashion are all about layers for me, and what is better staple piece and layering item them leggings?? Leggings are so great because they can be worn in a million different ways to make a million different looks. I love leggings tucked into boots, or worn with booties and a tunic length top. Velvet by Graham and Spencer, who are known for their ultra soft and comfortable fabrics have a fabulous pair of knit leggings, the Swoosie. {Wouldn’t love to know where that name came from??} They are the perfect pair to start your looks with, available in dark grey or black.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but is supposed to hit the 90′s this weekend, so I am still very much into summer clothes. Especially summer clothes that will transition into fall and winter outfits. Enter the Lace Trim Stripe Tank by Collective Concepts, it is obviously perfect for summer just by itself. But imagine it with a coordinating color long sleeve shirt underneath it for fall, and a cropped leather jacket on top for winter, so chic!

Another great piece for layering, is an open cardigan. I love to wear an open cardigan with leggings, because then I can wear a shorter shirt and the open cardigan is long enough to cover my behind.
