Easter Dresses are at Vintage Fringe

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Easter dresses were as much a tradition in my family as decorating Easter eggs.  Now that I am older- the egg hunts may be over for me but I still love finding that perfect Easter dress to wear to church on Easter Sunday.  In my opinion there are some key elements to any Easter dress you wear.  First the color of your dress must be bright, and second your dress has to scream spring.  Below are some of my picks for the perfect Easter dress.

Splendid Modal Jersey V Neck Dress

This V Neck Ruffle Dress is a perfect choice for Easter.  This dress is all about the tiny details like the ruffled neckline and ruching on the empire waist line which takes this classically constructed dress into a whole new level of design.  This dress will be a favorite of yours for years to come.   I should also mention that Ella Moss designs this dress in shadow (purple pictured about) and pond (green).

One other dress that I love, is this Velvet by Graham and Spencer Olka 3/4 Sleeve Dress. The neutral brown color would look great with a pop of color accessories like pink, blue, or maybe even some animal print! Another great spring versatile dress that can be ‘winterized’ with boots and a jacket, or ‘summerized’ with sandals and sunglasses!

Spring Color Trend: Jade

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Spring colors are always a welcomed thing to me, the darkness of winter is exchanged for bright, sunny, and what I call “happy” colors. Last fall, Chanel used a jade color nail polish on their models on the runway and launched an obsession with the color at the same time. Jade, or green is a great color for most people, you just have be be careful with the shade and tone of it, making sure it works for your skin tone. For spring i am loving this Tie Waist Hoodie from Spendid, perfect for a swimsuit{don’t worry we aren’t quite there yet} cover-up, a dress with leggings and boots, or as shown over jeans. It is very versatile and the perfect spring color!

Another great top in a slightly different shade of green is the Hamptom Hoodie by Ella Moss. I love the all the details and of course the green shade, which could easily go with so many other colors and patterns. It has a very relaxed look that is perfect for spring, especially with the longer sleeves for a bit more warmth, but in a lighter cotton that could transition to summer nights effortlessly.

Vintage Fringe has so many other really pretty and interesting tops in a shade of green, don’t forget that you can shop their site by color, love that! Now go have some fun and put on something other then black!

All about Shoulders and Sleeves!

Monday, February 15th, 2010
Bold shoulders and sleeves have been all over the runways, magazines, and celebrities this year. And for good reason, the updated version of the 1980′s shoulder pad trend is classy and accentuates{or tricks the eye to see} a small waist, it creates beautiful curves.  I love fashion, however it is just not practical for me to wear some of the more extreme sleeve and shoulder styles that celebrities have been spotted wearing{did you see Rihanna’s or Fergie’s spiked shoulders?}. So, for those of us with less red carpet events and more grocery carts in our lives, here are some cute ways to incorporate the bold shoulder and sleeve trend into your closet.
I love the vibrant color of this Scoop Neck top by Splendid, and the puffy, puckered sleeve really draws attention to the shoulder/sleeve area. There are so many great details in this top, and if you wanted create more curves, I think it would look fabulous belted.

The beautiful black and white damask print pattern on this short sleeve Deconstructed V Neck by Sweet Pea really draws the eye up and the double layer sleeve creates a more dramatic and bold shoulder.

Make sure to look for details in your tops, they will always draw the eye to it and if those details happen to fall on the sleeve or shoulder, they will accentuate that area. So what do you think, to spike or not to spike?? {Are Rihanna and Fergie completely mad or completely awesome??} Tell me what you think!

The best looks for right NOW

Monday, February 8th, 2010
Spring trends are on everyone’s mind, {lets be honest, most stores are rolling out swim suits this month!}but spring could be a ways off for some of you, so here are some looks that I love for right NOW. As mentioned in this post, ruffles are in and I love the chic gray color and slimming wrap detail of this Potina Top by Velvet by Graham and Spencer. Paired with dark denim and a headband accessory and the look is fresh and oh so appropriate for february weather. {I think I would love this top even more if I was holding the Borrealis bag, the colors would be so pretty with the gray of this top!}

Another look that I am loving is the slouchy, loose fitting boyfriend look, like this Boyfriend Buttonup by Splendid. This shirt exudes that laid back style, I love pairing it with lots of necklaces as shown for some unexpected glamour. As always, I love a good riding boot and this black pair complement and complete the entire look. If this isn’t quite warm enough yet, no worries just layer a bomber jacket, or long cardigan over it!

And lastly, for those of us that “winter” never really comes {I live in San Diego, don’t hate me!} this Ellasentials Cardigan Smock by Ella Moss is perfect. The shortened sleeve, open front and details at the shoulders and back all add charm to this closet staple. I love how this cardigan can eaisly be great for anything from running around town with the kiddos or dressed up for an evening out.

Five Fabulous Fall Essentials

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009
Velvet Brand Nanelle Long Sleeve Tee

Velvet Nanelle Scoop Neck

This week we’re focused on fashion essentials for fall.  The first key to fall fashion this year and every year for that matter is layering.  The key to any layered look in fall starts for me with a  few great long sleeve tee shirts. Long sleeve tees not only keep you warm, but are the  essential first step to any layered look.  Add a vest, cardigan or sweater on top of it and you have a versatile and fashionable outfit.

This fall I have found two essential designer long sleeve tees that will get you through both fall and winter. The first long sleeve tee I love is the Nanelle long sleeve tee from Velvet by Graham and Spencer. It’s easy to see how versatile this shirt is, but what is hard to see is how amazingly soft and comfortable this baby jersey fabric feels.  I also love the colors it comes in. Pictured above in Rain, it also comes in a darker green, ivory, and a taupe color.

Splendid Long Sleeve Scoop Neck Tee

Another great choice for best long sleeve shirt for fall is by Splendid. This tee is also super soft, durable, and washable. The length on this shirt is perfect, and the colors available are black, white, brown, and green.  I wear this shirt under many of my other splendid tees to add warmth and style to many tops.  The fabric on this top is a lightweight, super soft cotton that feels truly amazing on.  It is a sheerer fabric than the Nanelle scoop neck because the fabric is a lighter cotton than the Nanelle.  I love layering this top under cardigans or blazers.

Stay tuned for my 4 other fabulous fall essentials…. and as always visit www.VintageFringe.com for these and many more fashion must haves.

Fashion Trends: The Long Cardigan a Must Have for Every Wardrobe

Thursday, July 30th, 2009
1x1 8 Button Cardigan

Splendid 8 Button Cardigan

It’s an undeniable and unexpected fashion trend that has become a must have for every wardrobe…the long cardigan. Today’s cardigans are not the cardigans we used to see on Mr. Rogers or your Grandpa, they are actually the perfect layer for almost every occasion. Some of our favorite summer/fall cardigans have more of a lightweight feel than a jacket and are certainly more versatile. Cardigans can also be paired with so many accessories from scarfs to leggings to skinny jeans.

At Vintage Fringe we have numerous cardigans to choose from. My favorite cardigan is Splendid’s 1×1 8 Button Cardigan. What I love about this cardigan is the waist band at the end of the long cardigan. This added detail flatters every body. I can wear this cardigan anywhere with anything. I actually wear this cardigan every time I fly because it is the perfect fashionable and lightweight layer that can cover some of my midsection flaws and let’s be honest, most of us have a few flaws we would like to cover up.

Splendid Cotton Bamboo Short Sleeve Cardigan

Splendid Cotton Bamboo Cardigan

Another favorite cardigan I also adore is the Cotton Bamboo Short Sleeve Cardigan also by Splendid. What I love about this cardigan is the added seam detail which is so hot this season as well as the flared cut to the short sleeves that actually slims the look of my arms. This cardigan is fun to wear and especially with the pocket detail that only looks cute with a cardigan this length.
