Whatever your fashion style, a quick an easy way to update your look is changing your nail polish. With fall and winter here there are some super chic and fun nail polish trends to try. Of course the best part is the price, trying one of these trends is super affordable. First up is Gem Tones, these bright and bold colors are sure to turn some heads.

Fall Makeup Trends

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Fall 2010 makeup trends are following fashion trends with some bold looks. Bright, deep colors, dual-toned eyes, and strong brows and lips were what ruled the runway. I love playing with different makeup trends because it is so easy to simply switch out an eyeshadow or lipstick and feel completely on trend. For fall there is lots of purple, from plum to more of electric it is on nails, lips, and eyes.

Purple and Plum Perfection!

Purple and Plum Perfection!

The purple and plum makeup is NARS Eyeshadow in Daphne , Sephora Collection Beauty in a box Purple Smoky Eyes, Fresh Sugar Plum Lip Treatment SPF 15, YSL Rogue Volupté Perle in Mesmerizing Purple, and Revlon Dark Pleasure Limited Edition Nail Polish.

Red lips

Red lips

Red lips were all over the runways, they are a bold and daring look that can complement many different fashions. I love a red lip because it is instant attention and drama. Try one of the products shown above for some fiery lips, Nars Jungle Red lipstick, Tarte Lipsurgence Natural Matte Lip Stain in Fiery, and Korres Raspberry Antioxidant Liquid Lipstick in Red.

Natural Beauty soft and sheer makeup

If you don’t quite have the courage for the red lips, go for another big look for fall which is natural beauty. Soft, sheer, and neutral makeup that is perfect for any occasion and any outfit. Try Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette, Too Faced Naked Eye Soft & Sexy Eyeshadow Collection, and NARS Blush in Orgasm. Enjoy fall fashions and makeup trends and try something new! {But please don’t forget to share with me what you tried and how you like it!}

Survive the Heat in Style

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

The temperatures are rising high enough for many to abandon all sense of fashion and jump right into the shorts and t-shirt look. Here are some great picks for tops and dresses that can keep you looking hot while feeling cool during these simmering summer months.

Tank Tops
The key to a cool tank top is to pick breathable fabric that is also washable.  Dreamy Designer Sweet Pea’s signature nylon mesh is a great choice for summer. Like this 4 Tiered Ruffled Ruffle Tank in rain (blue).

This tank if full of flirty fashionable details but is soft and comfortable enough you will feel free and easy in it.  This tank is perfect for an outdoor bbq or even a a hot day at the park.

One of Vintage Fringe’s newest arrivals is also a perfect pick for a hot summer day.  Collective Concept’s trendy Racerback Flared Tunic Top is a great example of California style summer clothing.  First this nuetral color is both trendy and smart for hot summer days.  This tank is loose but has so many flattering details like the beaded straps, tunic length, and racerback.  Wear this tank anywhere this summer and you will stay cool and oh so stylish.

Short Sleeve Tops

Splendid no doubt had hot summer days in mind when designing it’s Navy Slub Shadow Stripe Waist Tie Top.

The wide sleeves and signature jersey slub fabric makes this short sleeve top a great choice on a hot day.  I also love how Splendid infamously makes a clean and modern statement with color choices that are both flattering and classic.  Pair this top with khaki bermuda shorts or denim capris… the options truly are limitless.

Designer Dresses

On those scorching summer days summer dresses are the coolest choice to make.

I love love this Modal Jersey V Neck dress also designed by Splendid

You can feel cool and trendy in this adorable jersey dress in blueberry (light purple).  This dress has a flattering empire waist, is machine washable, and is the perfect length for a cool summer dress.

From tanks to tees and even dresses, being hot is no excuse for not being fashionably adorable.  Don’t miss Vintage Fringe’s Summer Steal’s Sale where you can get 30% off everything until July 28th.

Smart Summer Sunscreen

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010
Kim Kardashian with a wicked sunburn.

Kim Kardashian with a wicked sunburn.

We have all been here haven’t we? The one time when we fell asleep, forgot to re apply, or maybe just wanted to start a “base” tan. Whatever the reasons, sunburns seem to happen and they damage skin more then we like to acknowlege. Here are a few easy ways to stay protected, so that we don’t end up looking like Kim Kardashian without feeling like a grease ball.{which I think is atleast one of the reasons that women tend to not protect themselves.}
Supergoop SPF 30 Sunscreem Swipes

Supergoop SPF 30 Sunscreem Swipes

I love the idea of just being able to wipeon sunscreen, no rubbing in, no white residue! These Supergoop SPF 30 Sunscreem Swipes have zinc for sensitive skinand can easily be used on the face or the body. They are non-greasy and a great easy option to just keep in teh car or toss in your tote.
Clinique Sun SPF 45 Targeted Protection Stick

Clinique Sun SPF 45 Targeted Protection Stick

Another great way to get coverage as well as convience is in a stick formula. This is not ideal for all over coverage, but for face, or other small areas it is ideal, non-greasy and again easy to take with for second applications. Try Clinique Sun SPF 45 Targeted Protection Stick, which is allergy tested and 100% fragrance free.
Sephora Sun Safety Kit

Sephora Sun Safety Kit

If you are not sure if a lotion, spray, wipe, powder or cream with suite you best, try a few smaller ones and then decide what you like best. This Sephora Sun Safety Kit has over 10 different products to try before committing to the full size version.
The sun is out, go and enjoy it! Just be sure to protect yourself first! What is your favorite form of sun screen?? I like powder or spray best, but I think I will give the wipes a try soon.

Chic Summer Hair

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Summer hair can usually be tricky, the heat, the playing in the water, and etc can all make it difficult to have good summer hair. Here are a few styles that are sure to look good and hopefully keep you feeling a little cooler as well. The first look that is great for summer 2010, it this loose low chignon that Lauren Conrad is sporting. Lauren has always been{at least in my mind} on point with her fashion, beauty and hair and this look is no different.

Braids are another great way to do your hair in warmer weather. Just about anything goes these days with braids, you can do it to the side, french braid, pigtail braid, or of course the braid across the forehead. Here is another lady with great hair, Jessica Simpsonwith a french braid up-do.

Lastly, for summer hair that is gorgeous and quick, don’t fight your natural texture. Hair strait from the beach and pool can be so chic with some scrunch spray and an air dry. Just look at Jennifer Aniston, a simple bobby pin and her beachy waves look great.

Don’t let the weather hold you back from looking so chic and pretty! What is your favorite summer hair look?? I love natural texture, too bad my hair is board strait!

Summer Nail Trends

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Nail polish trends change as much as fashion trends and this summer it looks as though the nail trends will be following the fashion trends with bold, bright colors and lots of patterns and prints. It might seem strange to have pattern and prints on your nails, but it can be very chic and fun way to add some extra fringe to your look. I especially like it for special occasions.

Mary-Kate Olsen wearing neon nails

Mary-Kate Olsen has been a style icon for some time now and her hot pink nails are right on point. I love that she is wearing such and understated outfit with a bright pop of pink nails, looks so chic and fresh.

SEPHORA by OPI Chic Prints for Nails

Now onto the pattern and print part, celebrities like Beyonce and Katy Perry have been spotted with Minx nails. Minx are super awesome, long lasting nail patches{kind of like a hard core sticker} thathave only been available at select salons at a rather high price compared to a regular manicure. Well, be excited ladies because Sephora, OPI and Minx have collaborated to make at home kits that will only cost you $15! Awesome right?? The Chic Prints for Nails are available in eight different patterns and will work for toes or fingers. So have fun with your nails this summer, be bold, be bright, be patterned!

Triple Strand Beaded Necklace

Triple Strand Beaded Necklace

I love how this necklace layers in the three strands which are all completely unique. The colors featured in this necklace are a brown, orange, silver, and copper.  The chain is a copper chain- which makes this piece especially unique.

Mother of Pearl Shell Oval Hoop Earings

Mother of Pearl Shell Oval Hoop Earings

I just love these adorable earings. Featuring a soft blue mother of pearl oval stone in the center, this earing is layered with a silver hoop.  This kind of dangly earing is a great statement to wear without a necklace and with your hair down.

Silver Chain with Filigree Silver and Turquoise Pendant

Silver Chain with Filigree Silver and Turquoise Pendant

This adorable necklace features a 19′ chain so it is fairly long- with the filigree silver and turquoise pendant detail.  I love love love turquoise jewelry because it looks great paired with so many colors.  If you love this necklace or any of the other jewelry pieces now at Vintage Fringe- DON’T WAIT.  You will never find the exact same piece of jewelry again!!

Skin that glows

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Summer hits and the fashions get smaller, which means more skin. I don’t know about you, but I prefer a bit of a glow for the summer months, it makes you look smaller, your teeth whiter, and can hide all sorts of veins and cellulite{of course you don’t have any of those!} With all the research out there full on sun bathing just doesn’t work for me, I don’t want skin cancer and I want my face to look as close to what it does now in 20 years as possible. Enter the fake tan. There are loads of different products out there, it is pretty overwhelming, so I will just highlight a few that I have tried. Please tell me what works for you, I am always on the look out for better options!

Kate Hudson looking golden.

Kate Hudson looking golden.

Kate Hudson giving us some glow-inspiration. First off are the Somer360° Tanning Towelettes by Kate Somerville. What I love about the towelettes is that they are so convenient, you can pack them anywhere they are so small and they are really easy to use. They give a nice glow and the color is build-able, i.e. you can continue to use the towelettes until you have achieved your level of tan, whether that be brazilian goddess or subtle glow.

This next product is one that I have been using for years, the Self Tan Bronzing Lotion by St. Tropez. This product goes on really dark, which is great because you can tell where you have already placed it. Then, the access color just rinses off in the shower. I apply it at night, then shower in the morning and it always looks natural. I even get comments like I have been spending more time at the pool-shhh! Don’t tell my secret!

One other handy little product that I love is the Leg Shine by Michael Kors. It doesn’t add a ton of color, but it adds some shine to your current color and really makes legs look great, and who doesn’t want great look legs?? It is lightly tinted and smells awesome. It is super fast to apply, just roll up your leg, which is even better for busy women.

Now please share, what are your favorite tanning products??

Angelina Jolie was spotted arriving in NYC to film her newest movie “Salt” in an Ella Moss Maxi Dress

This dress is Ella Moss’ Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress available at Vintage Fringe.  I guess I shouldn’t be suprised Angelina loves this dress, it is made of the softest supima cotton.  I also love this crochet neck-line that features a sort of floral detail.  This dress is also one of the most flattering long dresses, because of the empire waist detail.

Don’t forget the back of this Ella Moss designer dress features a racerback detail- so you can show off your toned trampezious muscles!!!
