Vintage Island Style Clothing

When I think of a island vacation, I frequently think of comfortable skirts or summer dresses.  I love finding great ways to incorporate vintage island style clothing into my perfect vacation and here are a few of my island vacation must haves.

First, you have to bring a peasant skirt.  These tiered skirts are perfect because they are dressy enough to be worn from day to night and work perfectly with flip flops or sandals.  They also can work with a variety of different style tops or tank tops.  This versatility when combined with the comfort of the peasant skirt puts it at the top of our must have list.  Consider as an example the Hilton Peasant skirt by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.

The Modal Jersey Scoop Neck Dress by designer Splendid is a wonderful  example of another versatile piece that can be dressed up or down depending on the event you need to wear it to.  This dress is currently available at Vintage Fringe in Mud, a taupe brown color, or Black.  The dress features a simple style with a ruffle for added detail around the tank sleeves and neckline.  It is a loose style and can be made more fitted when paired with a belt for alternate looks.  This dress is the ultimate comfort dress with a great modal jersey fabric that feels s so luxurious on and with the loose fit makes it a wonderfully wearable dress.

Another great vacation piece is the Sintia Pencil Skirt by designer Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  This skirt certainly wins the award for being the most versatile as you can truly wear this skirt with flip flops or heels and dress it up or down depending on the occasion.  Not to mention that finding a comfortable pencil skirt can be seemingly impossible some times.  This skirt features an elegant pencil skirt style and a wide waist band that is not constrictive or uncomfortable and gives you the option to position the skirt at whatever level you prefer in terms of high or low waists.  It is also available in a variety of great colors like grey, brown, navy, black and light green.

Finally, the other component of island vacation clothing is pattern.  We also love great tanks like the Hi-Lo Tank Top or the Sleeveless Tie Tank both by designer Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati.  Sweet Pea’s creative and bold use of patterns makes these tanks great stylish pieces that are both comfortable and classy, but also vibrant and exciting pieces to incorporate into your closet.   Each of these tanks are great pieces that can be worn for dressier vacation events like dinners out or parties and can also double as great casual tops by day.

As you can see there are a number of great options for vintage island style clothing and no matter what your own personal preferences, you can use these suggestions for ideas on how you can find modern day pieces to incorporate vintage styles while also finding pieces that work well for your own versatile needs.

Designers Boutique Clothing

Boutiques have developed a reputation of having great designer clothes that you often don’t find everywhere else.  That is the appeal and mystique of the clothing boutique and shopping for designer clothes.  Designer clothes are great because they feature high quality and you shop the same designers you love because of their distinctive style and the consistency of the sizing.  Boutiques are a great way to find new and upcoming designers and individual style that you won’t find in every chain store.

For those of you who may not know the story of Vintage Fringe a designer clothing boutique online, we started Vintage Fringe because we were tired of finding the same styles and designs worn by so many of our friends.  We can all appreciate the hunts we endured to boutique formal dress stores to find that perfect prom dress and the knowledge that no one else from our school would be wearing it.  Vintage Fringe attempts to bring that same level of individual style with high quality designer clothing while also including convenient customer policies and the ultimate convenience of shopping online.  There is nothing worse than trekking around town looking for that favorite boutique during their crazy hours and hassling with things like parking.  The online shopping channel really is the future of shopping and we have tried to make our boutique as convenient as possible.

You will also find a variety of designer clothing online and available in clothing boutiques online.   Often shopping online provides all sorts of options for saving money on free shipping, discounts, coupon codes, promotions, and the ability to comparison shop all help the online shopper save money and time.    In the beginning, some designers wouldn’t allow online shopping for their lines, but now you can find all but a few hold outs have even opened their own shopping sites.

Online shopping provides no shortage of designer boutique clothes and ways to find them.  While you may first think of your basic search engine searches, you should also look for good search portals or fashion comparison sites.  Many of the boutiques feature their designer clothing on search sites such as or where you can find a variety of different boutiques or sites and comparison shop simply by typing in the designer or a description of the item.   These comparison sites are great ways to find a variety of different styles and introduce you to new online boutique sites.

In short, you can find a variety of designer clothes boutiques online each with different styles and lines just as you would find brick and mortar designer clothing boutiques.   However, online if you know how to find it and where to look you really can find great ways to save and compare along with a wide variety of different lines and designers that you may not find in the boutique in your neighborhood.   Of course, we always recommend that when  you do shop online you look for legitimate sites that have customer friendly shipping and return policies to make sure that you can find that perfect statement piece that works perfectly for you.

Short Sleeve Sweater

During colder weather we often find ourselves feeling a lot like Goldilocks as you want something warm, but at the same time you don’t want something too warm so that you have to wear layers of clothing in case you end up too hot and need to start shedding some of those layers.  The short sleeve sweater is the perfect solution to this problem and is a great way to incorporate lots of alternative options for warmer weather.  To give you an idea of some great ways to incorporate short sleeve sweaters into your wardrobe, here are a few examples of great short sleeve sweaters that will help add that versatility into your cold weather wardrobe and frankly many can even work in warmer weather too.

Cardigans and wraps are ever popular this season and for good reason.  They are great layering pieces and have really become main stream as a basic long sleeve top.  Many modern cardigans feature long sleeves and now range from heavy sweaters to light weight knits.  Consider the Rumba Puff Sleeve Cardigan / Wrap from Laurie B.  The Rumba short sleeve sweater is a great example of a short sleeve sweater that we wear year round.  It works great over long sleeve tops in the winter and over tanks and short sleeve tops in the spring and summer months.  We love the shorter length in the back and the longer flared front.  Of course another great touch is the puff sleeves that give this sweater a unique feminine look.

Another great short sleeve cardigan is the Cotton Bamboo Cardigan by Splendid.  This cardigan is long and features a more classic, traditional cardigan look.  The distinction for this short sleeve sweater is the great navy blue color and the contrasting white stitching design that complements the front and a pattern in the back.  This cardigan features front pockets and slightly gathered sleeves for added detail.  A great versatile piece again this cardigan can be worn over long sleeves in the winter and over short sleeves in the summer.

We love the distinctive elements on the Cotton Bamboo Cardigan and another example of a short sleeve sweater with similar attention to details and a third distinctive short sleeve sweater style is the Venice Keyhole Back Sweater by Laurie B.  Featuring lots of details including the layered keyhole back, the flared short sleeve, and the fitted waist in back giving it an added twist this top looks fairly standard from the front, but as you can see the back is loaded with detail.  The fabric is a cashmere blend and also feels very soft.  Of course our favorite piece of this sweater is the surprise details in back that really do make this sweater a perfect statement piece and certainly something you won’t find every day.

As you can see from these great examples of unique styles for short sleeve sweaters that you really can find a lot of stylish, versatile options for short sleeve sweaters that can work in your wardrobe practically all year round.

Online Boutique: Clothing and Fashion

Online Boutique: Clothing and FashionThe clothing boutique is so alluring.  Many of us dream of days spent doing nothing other than bouncing from boutique to boutique to check out their newest arrivals with our bestest girlfriends.  Let’s be honest, this is far more of a dream than a reality.  If you’re at all like me, I always struggle to find the time to dedicate to such fashion scavenger hunts.  However, that has all changed as soon as I discovered the benefits and convenience of shopping for boutique clothing fashion online.

In fact, we started Vintage Fringe to meet this exact need.  We wanted to bring the benefits of boutique shopping online.  We were sick and tired of buying a top at a chain store only to see many of our friends wearing the same thing.  For example, last summer I attended a wedding and one of the other bridesmaids was wearing an identical denim jacket from the same chain store!  Disgusted with this type of trend, we decided to open an online boutique that provides many of the same boutique benefits with far less of the hassle.

First of all, it goes without saying that an online boutique is far more convenient.  You can shop on your hours, not the store’s. (And let’s face it-boutiques are notorious for having inconvenient hours.)  You don’t have to fight for parking.  You can shop at home in your pajamas.  You can shop at work or at home and frankly sometimes even on your cell phone or iPad.  You can often find more easily niche items online if you know exactly what you want.  At Vintage Fringe, we even offer free shipping and free returns on all non-outlet items, and yes we even have an outlet featuring major fashion bargains.  We also can’t forget that when you shop online you don’t have to worry about those annoying sales people bothering you as you shop!

Secondly, online boutique clothing fashion is typically far more niche and distinctive in terms of what online boutiques carry versus large department stores that often may not even carry the designers you are searching for or if they do they may have so many pieces that you run the risk of having all of your friends wearing the same piece.  Boutiques often offer you harder to find designers and do not carry as much inventory as larger stores so you are frequently much more able to find a distinctive, individual look for yourself.

Finally, shopping online allows you to compare multiple sites with far less work than shopping at boutiques in person.  There are many sites online that allow you to search a variety of different sites based on specific things like designers, colors, sizes, or even descriptions of the styles.  This ability to comparison shop in a far more convenient way will make shopping far more efficient than bouncing from boutique to boutique.

We think you’ll agree that once you discover online boutique shopping you will quickly find that it is much simpler and far more convenient than the dedication and time required to complete your own boutique shopping scavenger hunt!
