Vintage Inspired Clothing

Vintage has become such a popular word in fashion trends that you see it used in a variety of different capacities as you shop. You often see it referring to true vintage clothing referring to gently used clothing or an old piece that has been hanging in your closet since the 70s. Many designers and stores or boutiques tend to use vintage style clothing or vintage inspired clothing referring to new clothing with vintage elements in the design. As an example, you may see a new modern twist on a patterned retro a line mini dress that you might have seen worn in the 70s. Similarly, you may see new bohemian style pieces frequently referred to as vintage inspired. Taking those vintage elements and incorporating them into new, modern style clothes is what the vintage inspired terminology references.

We love the look of vintage inspired clothes and the frequently frilly, feminine elements that have made a comeback into so many modern styles and pieces. Here are a few examples of great vintage inspired pieces that are all brand new.

La Befana Polka Dot Tie Tank – What is more vintage than a great multi color polka dot pattern with light pink, blue and green polka dots? With a great scoop neckline featuring an off center bow tying the neckline together, this top has such a feminine look and distinctive style. This classic tank is also available in solid blue if you don’t love polka dots.

Sweet Pea Mod Retro Tunic – This top screams vintage style. Made by Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati, a designer that loves to work with patterns, this print is totally retro with bold colors and patterns. In addition, the style of this tunic looks like it just walked out of the 60s and yet today would look so hot with tall boots to really bring a vintage style to the modern day.

Ella Moss Dita V Neck Ruffle Dress – We often hear that this top looks like it should be in an episode of Mad Men and it really does fit with that vintage style. We could easily see Betty Draper wearing this dress to a dinner party. Don’t you just love the feminine touches like the ruffles around the v neck and the fitted waist on this dress? Again you see the polka dot pattern.

Velvet by Graham and Spencer Doreen Cutout Dress – the Cutout was such a popular clothing trend back in the 70s and you’re seeing a resurgence in current modern fashion trends. The Doreen dress by Velvet features a cutout in the sleeves around the shoulders and with a fitted dress style this dress again invokes that 70s era mini dress with boots.

We think you’ll find that lots of vintage inspired elements have surfaced in so much of modern day fashion that it really has become a lasting trend. The best of all of it is that you have the opportunity to take these vintage inspired pieces and truly make them fit with your own modern individual style and wear them with leggings or boots or other modern trends that really do help blend the past and the present.

Fall Fashion Trend: Gray

For fall fashion 2010 take a cue from mother nature and wear more gray. Ella Moss is the perfect brand for fall fashion, the fabrics are always comfortable with style that is perfect for every day and for every night. I would especially love it with dark jeans, a big teal necklace, and some fabulous gray nail polish that is so hot right now.

Finding Fashion at the Beach

Don’t worry I am not talking about swimsuits just yet {prepare yourselves, the time is coming soon} but rather the cute things we wear on top of swimsuits. Since it isn’t quite full blown summer just yet any swim outing will probably require some sort of cover up and depending on the type of gal you are you might always require a swim cover up so lets look at some fashionable, versatile, and comfortable options.

Ok, first we have the full coverage of a maxi dress, which is super flattering for most body types. I love this Ella Moss Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress because it is casual enough for the beach yet elegant enough for a night out. I love pieces that can work for lots of occasions and this dress surly does that. Imagine it with aviator sunglasses, beaded gladiator sandals and a bright yellow bag-cute!

If you want something that shows a little more leg, try this ultra cute Sweet Pea Sleeveless Empire Waist Dress. Again the empire waist is a flattering cut that hides imperfections, and can easily transition from beach to going out. This dress can completely change looks with different accessories.

With spring comes warmer weather and lighter and brighter colored clothes. I love all the bright and cheery colors and this season I am especially loving the sunshine yellow that seems to be showing up everywhere. This color is great for tops, skirts, dresses, shoes, handbags, where ever you want to add a pop of color. This Heart Button Cardigan by Joy Joy is so sweet and with 3/4 length sleeves it is the perfect piece for spring and cool summer nights.

If you live in a warmer climate or are just looking for something more summery, try the Hollie Crew Top by Ella Moss. This is about the time of year when I dump my coat and jacket and start wearing the cardigan. A cardigan is a versatile addition to your fashion wardrobe. A cardigan can be worn with jeans, pants, skirts, dresses or almost any garment. Designer Cardigans will be a great addition to your wardrobe for both the cardigan’s versatility and those added designer details that make your clothes stand apart from your friend’s clothes. Below are some of my favorite cardigans for spring.

I love love love the bold colors of this cardigan. Versatile Tops at Vintage Fringe

As things finally start to warm up outside, I thought I would finally do a blog about some of my favorite tops and designers that I am wearing these days to look fashionable in this transitional weather. I love layering and since it is still a little too cold to wear tanks and short sleeves in Colorado I have found this tank works great over a basic long sleeve scoop neck.

Hampton Widesleeve Scoop Neck by Ella Moss

I’ve been wearing this Hampton widesleeve scoop neck top by Ella Moss with jeans all over the place lately. The scoop neck with the empire waist tie allows this top to be loose but also flattering at the same time. I also love this deep crimson color. I tend to pair this top with Splendid’s Very Light Jersey Draped Cardigan in white.

What to Wear on St. Patrick’s Day

This Wednesday Irish or not so Irish it’s probably in your best interest to wear green. I am still trying to decide just how festive I want to look for a St. Patty’s day party this weekend. Just in case anyone else is still trying to pick your outfit out. Below are some of my favorites to choose from.

Laurie B. Emmy Cardigan Sweater in Kelly Green

This Cardigan Sweater is designed by Laurie B. and is the sweater I receive the most compliments on. I love how it snaps at the neck and then slits open for a cardigan feel. The pocket detail and long length makes this sweater so comfortable and easy to wear. I always pair this sweater with the Zooey long sleeve crew neck in white. Considering this sweater is now in the outlet- it’s a steal of a deal. Maybe the luck of the Irish.

The other shirt I am considering for St. Patrick’s day is this Victoria Front Tie Top designed by Ella Moss.
