Wrap Cardigan Sweaters

Wrap cardigan sweaters are a must have for every wardrobe this winter.  You’ll see lots of layers this year and wrap or cardigan sweaters are at the forefront again this season.  With variations in lengths and styles you have all sorts of options to create your own individual style with these wrap sweaters.  Wraps and cardigans are perfect for the cooler temperatures of fall and winter and can be perfect to accent a short sleeve top or tank in the spring and summer. Since they are such versatile pieces, you will definitely want to have more than just one!  Here are a few of our favorites:

Joy Joy Heart Button Cardigan – A truly adorable piece featuring a button up cardigan literally with heart shaped buttons in the center and then with an accented multi-color arrangement of a variety of fabric colored buttons in the shape of a heart on the lapel.  With a puff at the shoulder and a ¾ length sleeve, this cardigan is so feminine and a super stylish cardigan.  It is currently available at Vintage Fringe in black, pink and a couple remaining in yellow and green.

Laurie B. Moonlight Cap Wrap Sweater – You’ll love this distinctive sweater and its fashion forward look.  Complete with a flowing look of the wide v neck with the tie around the waist giving it a contemporary, fitted look.  This sweater is still available in a variety of colors and is perfect to go over a long sleeve top in just about any color.  You’ll love the slight shimmer on the knit and the distinctive, modern look.   It is a perfect wrap to layer and looks stunning with boots or leggings.

Ella Moss Victoria Cardigan – This versatile cardigan or features cotton voile around the shoulders that wraps from front to back. The balance of this cardigan is modal jersey fabric so super soft.  We love the Haze grey color too.  It pairs so well with black, white, navy, purples and so much more. This great cardigan is also dressy enough to wear to the office and casual enough to wear to run errands or out at night.  It is also lightweight so it is the perfect piece for layering in spring, fall and even in the summer.

Zooey Satin Trim Cropped Cardigan – Need a wrap or cardigan for your holiday party this year? This cardigan by Zooey is perfect for special occasions. This cropped cardigan features a contrasting satin trim around the hem and the front of the cardigan giving it a dressy touch.  The fabric is a super soft jersey which gives it an element of versatility so it is dressy enough that you can wear it with a dress to the holiday party and also over a t shirt and jeans.  In a black color that really works with just about anything.  The jersey also makes it lightweight enough to wear on a cool summer evening as well.  A great piece to add to your wardrobe as this cardigan is the perfect blend of dressy and casual.

These are just a few of our favorite wraps or cardigans this season.  You can see that they are great staple pieces with lots of distinctive style options and loads of versatility.

I love love love this La Befana Tank (I personally own it in polka dot also on sale this week at Vintage Fringe).  I wear it with a cute cap sleeve or a long sleeve shirt underneath.  The tie on the side adds the perfect detail that makes this top a one-of -kind top to add to your wardrobe.  I can wear this to work or at home and it is always adorable and flattering.  This week only at Vintage Fringe this tank designed by La Befana is on sale for $50.00… thats 40% off!

Laurie B. Rumba Puff Sleeve Sweater

Laurie B. Rumba Puff Sleeve Sweater

Knit designer and visionary Laurie B. is known for her high quality high fashion knitwear and this Laurie B. Rumba puff sleeve sweater wrap is probably my favorite design of hers.  This sweater snaps in the front for a completely separate look or it unsnaps to become the adorable wrap that is perfect for fall and early winter.  This sweater is also full of surprising details like the adorable pockets and puff sleeves.  This is also a super soft lightweight knit that can give you warmth but won’t overheat you. It really is perfect for any season.  A knit wrap like this can easily sell for around $200, but this week only at Vintage Fringe this puff sleeve cardigan is only $99.

Versatile Tops at Vintage Fringe

As things finally start to warm up outside, I thought I would finally do a blog about some of my favorite tops and designers that I am wearing these days to look fashionable in this transitional weather.  I love layering and since it is still a little too cold to wear tanks and short sleeves in Colorado I have found this tank works great over a basic long sleeve scoop neck.

This tie tank is perfect for layering or wearing alone.  I also love its sister tank which is the same style, but with an adorable polka dot pattern.

Hampton Widesleeve Scoop Neck by Ella Moss

Hampton Widesleeve Scoop Neck by Ella Moss

I’ve been wearing this Hampton widesleeve scoop neck top by Ella Moss with jeans all over the place lately.  The scoop neck with the empire waist tie allows this top to be loose but also flattering at the same time.  I also love this deep crimson color. I tend to pair this top with Splendid’s Very Light Jersey Draped Cardigan in white.

Spotlight on Ella Moss designer tops

Ella Moss clothes can be described as hip, quirky and fashionable.  But my favorite thing about this clothing line is that the pieces are so comfortable! They are as stylish as ever, yet feel like you are wearing your favorite old t-shirt.  I also appreciate how versatile these clothes are, they can easily go from day to night depending on what you pair them with. Here are a few of my favorite pieces, starting with this ultra flattering Costa Puffsleeve V Neck. The draping at the bust line looks elegant and stylish, this would be great with white jeans and embellished flats for summer.

Right on target with the nautical trend, Ella Moss’s Melbourne line is chic, comfortable and features wide stripes in a variety of colors. I particularly like the Melbourne Puffsleeve Front Tie Top, the oatmeal color is great and the v neck in front and back add great detail to this slouchy top. It could be paired nicely with just about any color and dressed up with dark denim and heels or dressed down with cute cut offs and sandals.

The last Ella Moss top I want to highlight is this light and breezy Jocelyn Puffsleeve Boatneck Top. I love the bright color {this beauty is also available in Lemonade aka yellow, which is fab!} and the gathered cuff, collar, and hem which make this shirt all the more flattering and forgiving for those of us without the picture perfect body shape.  This shirt could easily do double duty this summer as a swim cover up, and because of the fun print you don’t need loads of accessories. {Although I have always been one to do a bit more rather then a bit less when it comes to accessories!}

Trend Alert: Long Dresses are Back!!!

Kate Hudson, Kristen Bell, and Carrie Underwood looking sexy in thier summer dresses

Kate Hudson, Kristen Bell, and Carrie Underwood looking sexy in their summer dresses

Maxi dresses and other long flowing dresses are going to be back in a big way for spring and summer this year, and we all should be glad they are.  Maxi dresses are comfortable and flattering, allowing you to look sexy and feminine without sucking it in or living in fear afraid of accidentally showing  your underwear.  While the perfect summer dress should be long (I recommend that the maxi dress should hit just at or a smidge below your ankle) and flowing it is also important to pick a dress that looks casual enough that you don’t look like you are prepping for prom in the middle of the afternoon.  Below are some of my favorite long dresses.

Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress by Ella Moss

Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress by Ella Moss

This adorable maxi dress designed by Ella Moss encompasses everything I love about this trend.  The Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress is made of ultra soft and ultra comfortable supima cotton.  I also love the detail around the neck. This dress with a perfectly designed empire waist manages to be flattering as well as flowing which will be the perfect look this spring and summer.

If you are looking for a little more color I  love the Odessa V Neck Maxi Dress also designed by Ella Moss.

One reason I would steer readers looking for the perfect maxi dress towards Ella Moss is the great fabric choices for these dresses.   This super soft v-neck  dress is something I can see myself wearing everyday this summer.  I also love how the large v-neck allows for some adorable accessorizing.  This blue color is called waterfall and will surely make a pop in your wardrobe this summer.

Red Carpet Ruffles for Everyday

While Red Carpet fashion isn’t something I wear on a daily basis…I do try to see what celebrities pick to wear and glean some fashion trends from them.  This year the fashion magazines and I agree the major trend was ruffles.  Romantic Ruffles were  everywhere on the red carpets of the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.  Below are my favorite best dressed celebrities and my own everyday translation to their style.

First the Golden Globes and the beautiful and every elegant Diane Kruger in a ruffled Pink gown by Christian Lacroix.

I first started noticing Diane Kruger when she played the face who launched a thousand ships as Helen in Troy.  Since then she has proven she has impeccable taste, especially on the red carpet.  I love this vibrant pink color which will no doubt be perfect for fall.  My everyday translation of this style and dress is this 4 Tiered Ruffle Tank by Sweet Pea.

Sweet Pea by Staci Frati 4 Tiered Ruffled Tank

Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati 4 Tiered Ruffled Tank

Sweet Pea’s signature lightweight and flowing fabric in this fuchsia color is a perfect everyday version of Diane’s red carpet look.  This ruffled tank can easily be dressed up or down and will make everyone look glamorous and trendy for spring.

My other favorite red carpet look was Glee’s very own Lea Michele and her green goddess dress designed by Catherine Malandrino

This plunging ruffled v-neck gown was gorgeous and oh so daring.  My interpretation or should I say translation of this red carpet look is the Aggie V-Neck Ruffle Dress in chive  by Ella Moss.

You can always count on Ella Moss to design fun and flirty designer dresses for spring.  While the v-neck is not as plunging as Lea’s red carpet gown that is probably a good thing.  This shorter striped dress has a wonderfully flattering empire waist and slanted stripe detail that is oh so flattering.  Win your own best dressed awards with these styles and more available at VintageFringe.

SPRING/SUMMER 2010 FASHION TRENDS

Fashion trends in the spring and summer, when the flowers begin to bloom and the weather gets a tad warmer are so much more fun than your winter fashion trends. While there are many, many trends this season, I will tell you my top picks and how to wear them. Let’s just say that skin is definitely in this season!

Neutrals

Get naked (no pun intended) this season! Try to incorporate a nude shade in your wardrobe for day as well as evening – think skin-tone. Best of all, neutral shades can be paired with everything and anything from brights and prints to basic black. You should especially splurge on a neutral accessory such as a handbag or cork wedge sandal. The shade is effortlessly classic and goes with everything.

Peek-A-Boo

This style is truly for the daring.  With material such as mesh and lace and strategically placed cut-outs, the look is undeniably edgy. Dark shades are incorporated into many Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, Rodarte and Preen pieces this season, which show off a bold and sexy silhouette.

Feathers

Feathers are a fun and feminine touch to both clothing and accessories. You could pair a funky headband with a bright feather as a nice touch to a boring outfit, or you could pair a feather print blouse with destroyed skinny jeans and a few bracelets for a bohemian look. Feathers are definitely springlike and are a great alternative to floral prints!   You can find several great feather patterns by Sweet Pea.

Can’t wait to begin shopping for this season’s pieces? Check out my favorite trend focused site and get inspired by your favorite celebrity’s style!

www.vintagefringe.com The most chicest and unique online boutique! The site focuses on designs that incorporate feminine details on their garments as well as vintage finds, perfect for the ultimate girly girly! You can shop by color, price, size and brand. There is also a huge selection of comfy cotton pieces from my favorite brands such as Ella Moss, Splendid and Velvet by Graham & Spencer.

Fashionable Essentials for Fall: The Dress

Dresses are always a fashion essential, but this season a dress that can be worn with boots is so essential!  In this post we wanted to highlight a couple of excellent examples of how to rock great dresses with boots.   First, the elegant and classic dress that pairs perfectly with boots is the Kiki Front Tie Dress by Ella Moss. This dress falls just above the knee so it is the perfect length for knee high boots. I also love the look of the layers of this dress, especially with boots on.  The dress comes in slate (grey) and vanilla (ivory) which means this dress fits with any wardrobe whether you have brown boots or black.  This dress will undoubtedly become a statement piece for any wardrobe.

Kiki Front Tie Dress by Ella Moss

To prove how truly versatile boots have become this fall, my second pick for a essential fall dress is the Hollie Racerback Maxi Dress from Ella Moss. This long designer dress is a great choice for fall.  Ella Moss’s Maxi dress shows why long dresses have come back in style.  The beautiful lace like knit detail around the neckline along with the racerback and empire waist makes this dress elegant and distinctive, but also classic and simple. What is hard to show in a picture is how incredibly soft this supima fabric is. I love pairing this dress as pictured with cowboy boots. This dress will work any season, but is especially fun to wear in the fall.

These are just two of dozens of designer dresses at Vintage Fringe, some of which are on sale and better yet some of which are in the outlet.

Ella Moss Favorites

Picking just one Ella Moss favorite for us is like picking your favorite pair of shoes.  It’s too hard to name just one!  Lately though, we’ve fallen in love with the Hampton Hoodie from designer Ella Moss.  What is it that makes it a favorite for us?  Well for starters the fabric.  It features that great Supima cotton / Modal mix which makes it ultra soft and luxurious.  We always look for luxurious fabrics when scouring designer clothing, and Ella Moss routinely has such fabulous fabrics.

We also love the feminine details or  “fringe” on this top too.  From top to bottom this Ella Moss top is loaded with feminine accents with the contrasting cotton around the collar and the shoulders, the rolled up sleeves complete with the button and cotton loop to hold the rolled up sleeve in place, and of course we can’t forget the gathered sides at the bottom of the top to name a few.

All of these details make your basic hoodie into a super hip and feminine top.   We also love this top because it is so versatile.  It is perfect to throw over that short sleeve top or tank during warmer weather and also a great top for fall when things start to cool down.  We wear this top all the time as it is just perfect to throw on with your favorite pair of jeans.  We love this top as shown in Emerald Green.    So many of these lovable details are true for so many Ella Moss dresses and tops.   This is just one of our latest Ella Moss favorites.  What’s yours?
