Ella Moss Tops

Some of our favorite tops hail from designer Ella Moss.  The wonderful Ella Moss line is well known for their great use of luxurious fabrics to help give their pieces a flowy, feminine look.  Ella Moss tops are always contemporary, yet elegant styles and the fabrics make you wish you could wear them all the time.  The styles of Ella Moss tops generally fall on the dressier side of your wardrobe, but there are several Ella Moss tops that do have a more casual look.   Here are a few of our favorite Ella Moss tops.

Consider the Victoria Front Tie Neck Top by Ella Moss.  This top features a ruffle around the neckline and long ties for show or if you were to actually tie them around the neck would give it a more Victorian look.  This top features a v neckline with buttons down the center of the bodice.  The base of the top has a loose fluid look to it.  The sleeves also feature a light ruffle at the hem.  Made with contrasting voile fabric around the cuffs and bustline and modal jersey around the body of the top, this top feels as luxurious as it looks.  This beautiful top is available in Lemonade (Yellow) or Chive (Green).

The Jocelyn Puff Sleeve Top by Ella Moss is also a great versatile piece for your wardrobe.  This top features a lightweight cotton fabric with an adorable pattern including white flowers on the solid cherry red or lemonade yellow fabrics.  With a ruffle around the base of the sleeves, the neckline and the waist, this top always looks feminine.  The waist line and the cuff of the puff sleeve are gathered as well.  This lightweight top is the perfect addition to your summer or spring wardrobe.

Finally, we love the classic, but always perfect Ellassentials Short Sleeve V Neck Top with Smocking.  This top features the classic modal jersey fabric which we have learned to love about the Ella Moss line.  The fabric feels so soft and luxurious.  This elegant v neck also features smocking in the center at the base of the v neck for contrast which really does give this top an added element of femininity.  The base of the top features a flared empire waist like fit which of course only adds to the feminine touches.  This top is available in Admiral (Navy) and Haze (Grey).  This top really is classic and elegant at the same time.

As you can see there is never a shortage of great, distinctive top options with Ella Moss.  Complete with fabulous fabrics, these tops feel as luxurious as they look.  If you already love Ella Moss tops, you will know exactly what we are talking about and if you haven’t ever tried an Ella Moss top, you will want to try incorporating at least one Ella Moss top into your wardrobe.  We are confident that you will find that Ella Moss tops are an essential component of every gal’s wardrobe.

Short Sleeve Sweater

During colder weather we often find ourselves feeling a lot like Goldilocks as you want something warm, but at the same time you don’t want something too warm so that you have to wear layers of clothing in case you end up too hot and need to start shedding some of those layers.  The short sleeve sweater is the perfect solution to this problem and is a great way to incorporate lots of alternative options for warmer weather.  To give you an idea of some great ways to incorporate short sleeve sweaters into your wardrobe, here are a few examples of great short sleeve sweaters that will help add that versatility into your cold weather wardrobe and frankly many can even work in warmer weather too.

Cardigans and wraps are ever popular this season and for good reason.  They are great layering pieces and have really become main stream as a basic long sleeve top.  Many modern cardigans feature long sleeves and now range from heavy sweaters to light weight knits.  Consider the Rumba Puff Sleeve Cardigan / Wrap from Laurie B.  The Rumba short sleeve sweater is a great example of a short sleeve sweater that we wear year round.  It works great over long sleeve tops in the winter and over tanks and short sleeve tops in the spring and summer months.  We love the shorter length in the back and the longer flared front.  Of course another great touch is the puff sleeves that give this sweater a unique feminine look.

Another great short sleeve cardigan is the Cotton Bamboo Cardigan by Splendid.  This cardigan is long and features a more classic, traditional cardigan look.  The distinction for this short sleeve sweater is the great navy blue color and the contrasting white stitching design that complements the front and a pattern in the back.  This cardigan features front pockets and slightly gathered sleeves for added detail.  A great versatile piece again this cardigan can be worn over long sleeves in the winter and over short sleeves in the summer.

We love the distinctive elements on the Cotton Bamboo Cardigan and another example of a short sleeve sweater with similar attention to details and a third distinctive short sleeve sweater style is the Venice Keyhole Back Sweater by Laurie B.  Featuring lots of details including the layered keyhole back, the flared short sleeve, and the fitted waist in back giving it an added twist this top looks fairly standard from the front, but as you can see the back is loaded with detail.  The fabric is a cashmere blend and also feels very soft.  Of course our favorite piece of this sweater is the surprise details in back that really do make this sweater a perfect statement piece and certainly something you won’t find every day.

As you can see from these great examples of unique styles for short sleeve sweaters that you really can find a lot of stylish, versatile options for short sleeve sweaters that can work in your wardrobe practically all year round.

Empire Waist Tops for Fall

Empire Waist Tops are the perfect style of top to help create that classy feminine look since they do accentuate your bust line. However, sometimes the empire waist look can be unflattering if the loose or flared waist line makes you look pregnant.  In the quest to find that perfect empire waist top while also looking figure flattering, here are a few of our ideas of a few good empire waist tops.

Velvet by Graham and Spencer Vevina Long Sleeve Empire Waist Top – A simple, yet classy empire waist top with a loose, but not flared waist.  This top won’t create that pregnant poof at the waist line and features a complementing feminine v neck accented by buttons at the base of the v neck and on the cuffs of the sleeves.  It is part of Velvet’s Baby Jersey collection and consequently made of baby jersey cotton which makes it very soft and comfortable.

Ella Moss Costa Puff Sleeve V Neck – Another great empire waist top that is figure flattering available in Soot, a smokey purple color that is so popular this season.  With pleats around the v neck, a cinched center and puff sleeves, this top is anything but ordinary.  The empire waist line is subtle, but gives this top an elegant look.  The waist below the empire waist line is only slightly flared avoiding the unflattering look.

AlixK Discharge Long Sleeve Turtleneck – An up-in-coming designer with a penchant for feminine touches and details to all of their tops, this collection by AlixK features their amazing silk cotton fabric blend which feels super luxurious (which we are so grateful is machine washable by the way).  Part of AlixK’s signature look is the great embroidery work which is hand-made.  The Discharge turtleneck is great because it is gathered so it doesn’t flop over or need readjusting throughout the day.  Again this empire waist top is distinctive, but isn’t overly flared to give it an unflattering look.

Velvet by Graham and Spencer Piree Ruched V Neck – Part of Velvet’s Gauzy Whisper collection, this lighter weight cotton fabric is another illustration of a flattering, subtle empire waist top.  With ruching around the bustline adding another element of femininity, this top features a wide v neck and a subtle flared waist.  We love the Magnolia purple color too.

In short, in the debate about whether empire waist tops are flattering or not, we side with flattering.  If you find the right empire waist top, the look can be very flattering and oh so feminine.  Understandably, they may not work for every body type, but our point is that you can find the right empire waist tops that don’t make you look pudgy or pregnant.  We love the fluid feminine look of loose empire waist tops too and you can also find many of them when you’re shopping, but for those of you who are searching for the flattering empire waist top, don’t despair, they do exist and they are great feminine pieces for your wardrobe.
