Lightweight Cashmere Cardigan Sweater

Finding the perfect lightweight cashmere cardigan sweater can sometimes feel like finding a needle in a haystack.  It is often difficult to find just the right cardigan and then to find one that is made of lightweight cashmere can seem impossible.   We have found it much easier to solve this dilemma by searching for pieces that have cashmere in them.  The best part about cashmere is the luxuriously soft feeling of the knit.  We have also found that you can find some great pieces that include knits other than cashmere to give you that soft luxurious feel.  Consider a few of these great cardigan sweaters as examples.

First, the Laurie B. Milan Sweater features 30% cashmere blended with nylon and viscose.  The blended knit still has the softness of cashmere and the great viscose knit that is silky soft as well.  This light-weight sweater knit is a great short wrap cardigan features a tie that can go in front or in back depending on how you like to wear it.  It also features a lightly gathered seam at the empire waist line giving it added elements of detail.  In addition, the wide ¾ length sleeve something you don’t see on every wrap these days.  You’ll love the rich Truffle brown color and the ivory Parmesan color too.  This sweater is certainly versatile and works as a great substitute for a blazer at work or to throw over your tank top on a cool night out.

The viscose knit is actually one of our favorite substitutes for cashmere and of course it is much more economical. In our opinion the viscose actually has a silkier feel than the cashmere.  Viscose is made of a blend of natural and man-made components that can be made into a rayon fabric.  Viscose rayon has a great silky appearance and soft texture and yet breathes similarly to cotton.

Consider the Audrey Wrap that is made of 78% viscose and 22% nylon.  It has a smooth, silky texture that is so soft and luxurious to touch.  Of course the Audrey Wrap also made by Laurie B. features a great wrap design with a faux wrap at the base of the sweater with a contrasting color shimmery tie around the waist.  The cuffs and the waist are fitted giving the wrap a great hugging fit.  Our favorite aspect of this wrap is the fabric.  The viscose blend makes for a great fabric that you seriously won’t want to take off.

Finally, the Gable Stripe Cardigan also by Laurie B. also uses a viscose blend to give you a great feeling knit fabric.  This distinctive cardigan features a dramatic contrasting zipper that is front and center in this distinctive cardigan, the Gable Stripe grey and black pattern looks so classy and elegant.  Laurie B. still manages to weave in fashion forward elements with the dolman flared sleeve on this sweater, a scoop neckline and the contrasting black trim around the neckline and cuffs and hem.   Again you would not believe how luxuriously soft the knit on this sweater feels.  It is also made from a viscose, nylon blend with 78% viscose and 22% nylon so of course it feels super soft and very comfortable.  One of our favorite looks is wearing this over a long sleeve black top with a black skirt and boots in the winter.

All of these are great examples of lightweight sweaters that incorporate cashmere or a great alternative to cashmere to give you a luxuriously soft lightweight wrap in a distinctive style.

Sweater Wrap with Sleeves

This winter in your quest to find the perfect Sweater Wrap with Sleeves you may be surprised to learn that you actually have a variety of wrap alternatives to choose from.   You have variations in length on the body of the sweater and the length of the sleeves, different fabrics or knits giving you options for different weather and of course different styles giving you a host of alternatives for a sweater wrap that will likely become a go to piece in your wardrobe.

The Milan Sweater by Laurie B. is a great example of a flared wrap sweater with sleeves that features a cropped length and a tie that can be worn in front or in back which gives you the ability to customize the look to be as tight or as loose as you want.  Of course this wrap sweater features long sleeves and is made from a great cashmere blend knit.  The back also has a gathered seam to give this wrap some added detail.  Laurie B. is known for making great contemporary knit sweaters and wraps and the Milan wrap is no exception.   At Vintage Fringe this sweater is available in either Truffle brown or in Parmesan ivory colors.

Another great wrap with sleeves that is made from a lighter weight sweater fabric is the Rayon Slub Jersey Cardigan by Ella Moss.  This wrap really has become one of our go to pieces when you need something light enough that you can throw it in your bag or purse when traveling and then layer it if you are too chilly.  It is made of a luxurious feeling Rayon Slub Jersey fabric so it is lighter weight than a traditional knit sweater, but it works perfectly year round because of its light weight fabric.  We love the option of tying the wrap in front to give it a more fitted look.  With ¾ length sleeves that are gathered this wrap is a great versatile staple for your wardrobe.

Finally, this alternative of a sweater wrap with sleeves is a bit unconventional, but a great way to spice up your sweater wardrobe and insert a little edge and modern twist on your sweater wardrobe.  The Moonlight Cap Wrap Sweater Laurie B features a shorter sweater sleeve, but we always layer it over a long sleeve shirt so you still have the long sleeve warmth.  You’ll love this distinctive sweater and its fashion forward look.  Complete with a flowing look of the wide v neck with the tie around the waist giving it a contemporary, fitted look.  This sweater is available in a variety of colors and is perfect to go over a long sleeve top in just about any color.   It is a perfect wrap to layer and looks stunning with boots or leggings.

As you can see, there are so many possibilities for finding the perfect sweater wrap with sleeves.  Each of these pieces give you a variety of options for styling that allow you to create your own individual style.  In fact, we love each of these pieces because you can use them for layering over your favorite long sleeve tee and then accentuate it with lots of great jewelry.  For all these reasons, the sweater wrap is a must have for your wardrobe this season.

Laurie B. Sweaters

Laurie B. sweaters are some of our favorite sweaters and this is the perfect time of year to find amazing deals on great sweaters.  Laurie B. is perhaps one of the most distinctive of all of the designers available at Vintage Fringe.  The American knitwear line: Laurie B. is the creation of Laurie Brazeau.  Laurie was born in Mexico, raised in the United States and traveled the world searching for work and inspiration.  After working for years in Paris as a private label designer she returned home and launched her own knit line Laurie B. working from her own home in Oakland, California.  While Laurie has no formal design school training she has managed to build her brand and her style into a recognizable icon for knitwear internationally.  She credits her international travels, vintage shopping skills, and her color outside the lines mentality as her inspiration behind her one of a kind designer style.  Here are a few examples of great outside the lines sweaters that will help you create your own distinctive style:

Laurie B. Milan Sweater – This great short wrap cardigan features a tie that can go in front or in back depending on how you like to wear it.

Laurie B. Moonlight Cap Wrap Sweater – You’ll love this distinctive sweater and its fashion forward look.  Complete with a flowing look of the wide v neck with the tie around the waist giving it a contemporary, fitted look.  This sweater is available in a variety of colors and is perfect to go over a long sleeve top in just about any color.  You’ll love the slight shimmer on the knit and the distinctive, modern look.   It is a perfect wrap to layer and looks stunning with boots or leggings.

Laurie B. Gable Stripe Cardigan – Featuring a dramatic contrasting zipper that is front and center in this distinctive cardigan, the Gable Stripe grey and black pattern looks so classy and elegant.  Laurie B. still manages to weave in fashion forward elements with the dolman flared sleeve on this sweater, a scoop neckline and the contrasting black trim around the neckline and cuffs and hem.   You also would not believe how luxuriously soft the knit on this sweater feels.  It is made from a viscose, nylon blend and it feels super soft and very comfortable.  One of our favorite looks is wearing this over a long sleeve black top with a black skirt and boots in the winter.

Laurie B.’s sweaters are always excellent quality and as you can see from the few pieces mentioned in this post that so many of her designs are not your run of the mill boxy sweater that you find at so many stores.  Each Laurie B. sweater features great unique design elements and will always be a statement piece in your wardrobe.

This Collective Concepts racerback flared tunic tank has been one of my favorite pieces this summer.  It is so easy to glam up with cute shoes and basic leggings and I always feel like a million bucks when it wear it.  Accessorizing is easy with this racer-back tank because it has the adorable black and silver beaded straps.  While this tank designed by Collective Concepts usually sells for $55.00 this week only at Vintage Fringe it is on sale for $33.00.

La Befana Navy Tie Tank

I love love love this La Befana Tank (I personally own it in polka dot also on sale this week at Vintage Fringe).  I wear it with a cute cap sleeve or a long sleeve shirt underneath.  The tie on the side adds the perfect detail that makes this top a one-of -kind top to add to your wardrobe.  I can wear this to work or at home and it is always adorable and flattering.  This week only at Vintage Fringe this tank designed by La Befana is on sale for $50.00… thats 40% off!

Laurie B. Rumba Puff Sleeve Sweater

Laurie B. Rumba Puff Sleeve Sweater

Knit designer and visionary Laurie B. is known for her high quality high fashion knitwear and this Laurie B. Rumba puff sleeve sweater wrap is probably my favorite design of hers.  This sweater snaps in the front for a completely separate look or it unsnaps to become the adorable wrap that is perfect for fall and early winter.  This sweater is also full of surprising details like the adorable pockets and puff sleeves.  This is also a super soft lightweight knit that can give you warmth but won’t overheat you. It really is perfect for any season.  A knit wrap like this can easily sell for around $200, but this week only at Vintage Fringe this puff sleeve cardigan is only $99.

Stripes in Fashion

When fashion finds something that works for everyone, the trend tends to stay around and this year stripes have gone from fall, to spring and now summer. I am loving how the chic, laid back style of stripes can work for just about any occasion. Check out this Alexander McQueen striped dress, made famous by the ever stylish Rihanna.

If you don’t have this dress in your closet {its sold out} try this Splendid Slub Shadow Stripe Waist Tie Top in navy/red combo. {It’s shown here in green/red} It would be a great piece for spring and summer and could easily be worn with shorts, capris, or leggings.

Trendy Tanks from Sweet Pea by Staci Frati

I might be jumping the gun a bit to already be blogging about tank tops, but the weather is so beautiful today, I am feeling the need to feature some adorable designer tanks designed by Sweet Pea.  Sweet Pea’s vivid patterns are a signature look at any time of the year but especially spring/summer these bold colors will help any gal stand out- in the best kind of way.

Sleeveless Front Tie Top by Sweet Pea

Sleeveless Front Tie Top by Sweet Pea

This Sleeveless Front Tie Top is adorable and the cut is really flattering on everyone.  I also really love this print- it is a dark navy background.  The neck ties make it fully adjustable and allows you to decide how to adjust the neckline.  As always this top is in Sweet Pea’s trademark mesh-nylon.

This solid blue 4-Tier  Ruffle Tank by Sweet Pea is favorite of mine.  While sweet pea mostly designs bold prints, this tank comes in solid blue (rain) or fuschia (cranapple).  I love how the 4-tiered ruffles makes this tank simple but trendy and feminine.  This tank is a perfect to stand alone piece but also looks great paired with a cardigan (see below).

How to update your wardrobe for spring

Everyone wants to look fashionable, or their best no matter what the climate, and even in a tough economy you can update your look for spring with just a few pieces. This spring, as usual, we are being hit with loads of trends and fads, i suggest picking a few that work for you, your lifestyle, your body type and going with those. The three trends that I am loving are prints and over-sized florals, sleeves, and black and white. First the prints and over-sized florals, what a fun eye-popping trend. Go bold here and remember to not go too over the top, keeping accessories simple can help avoid that. This Sleeveless Front Tie Tank Top by Sweet Pea is perfect for spring and perfect for this trend. Imagine a boyfriend blazer on top of it for the office and then let is stand alone for a night out-love that!

Next is sleeves, most people tend to think that warmer weather means less sleeves, but this year you will find lots of options that offer chic coverage. Sleeves are oh so flattering, especially the flouncy versions found this spring. A great option to try this trend is the Keelin Squareneck Lace Top by Velvet.{bonus, it just happen to be in a print, two trends for the price of one!}

Lastly is the stark contrast of black and white. I love this trend because it is so versatile and easy to incorporate in any wardrobe. Bold color accessories look great with black and white and stripes, patterns, shirts, dresses, sweaters and more can all be done in this trend. I am loving this Gable Stripe Cardigan by Laurie B.The bold black an white stripes are right on and the exposed zipper adds a bit of edge, not to mention that the cut is ultra flattering.
