This is about the time of year when I dump my coat and jacket and start wearing the cardigan. A cardigan is a versatile addition to your fashion wardrobe. A cardigan can be worn with jeans, pants, skirts, dresses or almost any garment. Designer Cardigans will be a great addition to your wardrobe for both the cardigan’s versatility and those added designer details that make your clothes stand apart from your friend’s clothes. Below are some of my favorite cardigans for spring.
- Ella Moss Miley Striped Cardigan
I love love love the bold colors of this cardigan. Ella Moss designed this cardigan in Candy Apple (red) with with blue and yellow stitch detail or in Admiral (blue) with red, white, and yellow stitched detail. This Miley Cardigan is cropped and features a button top. Below is a picture of the detail in the back of this cardigan in Admiral (blue).

Another cardigan I can’t get enough of is the the Gable Stripe Cardigan designe by renowned knit designer Laurie B.

I love to wear this Gable Stripe Cardigan on its ow as a top or as a cardigan with a black dress or black top. You essentially get two great looks in one top! As always designer Laurie B.’s taste is immpecable.
- Joy Joy Heart Button Cardigan
I love this Heart Button Cardigan for all it’s adorable little details. Joy Joy designed this cardigan in black, yellow (picture above), green, and hot pink. I love the adorable heart buttons and the perfect elbow length in the sleeves.

Everyone wants to look fashionable, or their best no matter what the climate, and even in a tough economy you can update your look for spring with just a few pieces. This spring, as usual, we are being hit with loads of trends and fads, i suggest picking a few that work for you, your lifestyle, your body type and going with those. The three trends that I am loving are prints and over-sized florals, sleeves, and black and white. First the prints and over-sized florals, what a fun eye-popping trend. Go bold here and remember to not go too over the top, keeping accessories simple can help avoid that. This Sleeveless Front Tie Tank Top by Sweet Pea is perfect for spring and perfect for this trend. Imagine a boyfriend blazer on top of it for the office and then let is stand alone for a night out-love that!

Laurie B. Rumba Cardigan
The sweater is another fashionable essential this fall. Since fall can be cool one day and freezing the next I would recommend a lightweight sweater and a thicker layering sweater. For the lightweight sweater this season I have fallen in love with the Laurie B. Rumba Puff Sleeve Sweater. This sweater can be worn so many different ways. Pictured here unbuttoned and over a tank top you can wear it in warmer weather too. In cooler weather, we love to wear it over a long sleeved shirt. The snap in the front makes it possible to wear it open or closed. My favorite detail are the pockets in front. I love also that it comes in classic black and a sweatshirt grey.
Splendid Cotton Stripe Cardigan
Another fashionable sweater that I love to wear on those chilly fall days is Cotton Stripe Long Sleeve Cardigan from Splendid. This sweater has the adorable thick stripes that look great with denim pants. This sweater is more flattering than most chunky sweater wraps because the collar gets wider closer to the face. We love the tie around the waist too giving it a flattering fit.

In our quest for distinctive sweaters, this Laurie B. sweater takes the cake! We love the distinctive look of this Moonlight Cap Wrap Sweater from Laurie B. We love that Laurie B.’s designs are not just the same old basic turtleneck sweater or the same old cardigan. Instead they take those basic designs and then add feminine details like a ruffle sleeve or a twist on the cardigan that is open at the bottom rather than the top like the Emmy Cardigan sweater.

The Moonlight Cap Wrap Sweater is another example featuring a belted waist that ties an over sized wrap sweater. We love to wear it as shown in the shot on our model below creating a wide V when the sweater falls naturally. Others prefer to wear it with more of a flare at the waist as demonstrated on the mannequin shot shown here as well. With short sleeves this sweater is perfect for layering this winter and with a skirt and boots is the perfect winter sweater this season.

Laurie B. Sweaters
It’s sweater season and this winter we wanted to let you know what we’ve seen for upcoming sweater trends. We love the sweaters we carry from Laurie B. One reason why we love them so much is because they are not your typical stuffy sweater. These sweaters are all super stylish and what makes them Vintage Fringe worthy is their attention to cute details like pockets and large buttons.
One trend that we’ve seen are the short sleeve cardigan sweaters. With a bit of a twist on the retro cardigan from years gone by, the new short sleeve versions are perfect for layering over turtlenecks or long sleeve tops. These cardigans are a great alternative to a vest and would be amazing with leggings or boots. We love the Laurie B. details including the pockets, the off-center snaps that give it that finished look. At Vintage Fringe we currently have two versions the Emmy (shown) and the Sunset cardigan. The Emmy features an acrylic/wool/mohair blend and the Sunset is made from a cotton/elite blend. Both are fabulous sweaters and this style of sweater the short sleeve cardigan is a big trend this upcoming winter season. We currently have a few left of the Sunset version available in Navy Blue and Black and the Emmy available in Green (shown), Sky Blue, and Brown.

Zooey Long Sleeve Crew Neck

Nothing complements vintage style better than boots. It’s that time of year where boots become a wardrobe staple. While we don’t yet sell boots at Vintage Fringe, we do have several tops that would be fabulous with boots. Starting with The Frock from Laurie B., we love this tunic length sweater that can also be a dress if you have that perfect body.

Available in Bark (Taupe) and Plum (Aubergine) both of these tops would be great with your basic black or brown boots. Boots will absolutely rock this sweater.
Another bootworthy top/dress is the Orange and Black Empire Waist dress by Sweet Pea. This dress can really be worn almost any time of year, but for fall/winter this dress would be absolutely perfect with boots.
The empire waist gives it that added level of femininity and with boots and the vivid colors and pattern, this dress is sure to make a bold statement.
Another perfect combination with boots are any of our Long Sleeve Crew Tunic length tops by Zooey.
They have a great, long length and would look ultra hip and stylish with boots. This top is available as shown in Grey (Dungeon), Brown (Ebony), Navy Blue (Midnight), Black, Magnolia (Yellow) and of course White.
Let’s be honest, each of these tops will help give you a unique look as they are, but we think they would be fabulous with boots too.
