Summer Nail Trends

Nail polish trends change as much as fashion trends and this summer it looks as though the nail trends will be following the fashion trends with bold, bright colors and lots of patterns and prints. It might seem strange to have pattern and prints on your nails, but it can be very chic and fun way to add some extra fringe to your look. I especially like it for special occasions.

Mary-Kate Olsen has been a style icon for some time now and her hot pink nails are right on point. I love that she is wearing such and understated outfit with a bright pop of pink nails, looks so chic and fresh.

Now onto the pattern and print part, celebrities like Beyonce and Katy Perry have been spotted with Minx nails. Minx are super awesome, long lasting nail patches{kind of like a hard core sticker} thathave only been available at select salons at a rather high price compared to a regular manicure. Well, be excited ladies because Sephora, OPI and Minx have collaborated to make at home kits that will only cost you $15! Awesome right?? The Chic Prints for Nails are available in eight different patterns and will work for toes or fingers. So have fun with your nails this summer, be bold, be bright, be patterned!

Spring 2010 Nail Trends

While celebrity trends can sometimes be tricky to follow, nail polish is an easy and quick way to update you look.  The spring fashion shows, award shows, and magazine covers{have you seen the ever radiant  Heidi Klum on the cover of InStyle for Feb?} all confirm that nude colors are making a big splash in fashionand beauty. At the recent 2010 SAG awards numerous leading ladies showed off nude and slightly shimmery nails. Lea Michele’s nails in the post below show how she is following this trend, but one of my favorite looks for the night was Drew Barrymore in a navy gown with sheer nails, and pale/nude make up.

If you are want to give this look a test run, try one of these four OPIcolors that were hand picked by Marc Jacobs for his spring fashion show. Not only are OPI colors pretty, but they pack some real fun in with their names.  The four shades below are Malaysian Mist, Samoan Sand, Barefoot in Barcelona, and Dulce De Leche.

Three of my favorite things about nude nail polish are, one: if it chips it is less noticeable, making it possible to stretch that mani out for a few more days! Two, for pocket change you can pick up a bottle and DIY. And three, go get your self some nude nails and lips and you will instantly look in-the-know and add some seriously chicness to your look! {One more, did i mention that nude goes well with EVERYTHING?? major bonus in my book!}

Don’t forget to pick up some chic clothes at Vintage Fringe to go with those gorgeous nails of yours!
