I might be jumping the gun a bit to already be blogging about tank tops, but the weather is so beautiful today, I am feeling the need to feature some adorable designer tanks designed by Sweet Pea. Sweet Pea’s vivid patterns are a signature look at any time of the year but especially spring/summer these bold colors will help any gal stand out- in the best kind of way.
Sleeveless Front Tie Top by Sweet Pea
This Sleeveless Front Tie Top is adorable and the cut is really flattering on everyone. I also really love this print- it is a dark navy background. The neck ties make it fully adjustable and allows you to decide how to adjust the neckline. As always this top is in Sweet Pea’s trademark mesh-nylon.
This solid blue 4-Tier Ruffle Tank by Sweet Pea is favorite of mine. While sweet pea mostly designs bold prints, this tank comes in solid blue (rain) or fuschia (cranapple). I love how the 4-tiered ruffles makes this tank simple but trendy and feminine. This tank is a perfect to stand alone piece but also looks great paired with a cardigan (see below).

Sweet Pea's Sleeveless Front Tie Tank
Life is sweet for Sweet Pea’s designer and brainchild Stacy Frati. This Miami based designer launched her first mesh top over 10 years ago because she felt “there was a void in the market for something very beautiful that could just be a day-into-night style blouse.” Few knew then that Staci’s nylon mesh line she titled “Sweet Pea” would become a landmark of feminine vintage-inspired clothing that could “fly by night”.

The Mod look from the 60’s seems to be inspiration on runways everywhere. Sweet Pea is just one of many designers who is turning the classic mod look into a modern style and here at Vintage Fringe we have found many mod patterns and cuts that can be a great addition to any one’s personal style. Ruffle Tops are a huge fashion trend this summer! Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff are just a few celebrities who are digging the ruffle look.

Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati is always on top of fashion and this season’s tops here at Vintage Fringe are no exception! A perfect example is Sweet Pea’s Belted Ruffle Top. This top is a classic example of Sweet Pea’s patterned shirts that are feminine and soft. This shirt also combines some of this season’s hottest fashion trends with its ruffle neckline and accent belt. Best of all the belt is patterned on one side and contrasted in pink on the other, so you can pull off two completely different looks with one shirt.

We’ve mentioned how much we love Sweet Pea Clothing’s patterns, but today we wanted to rave about one that we think is a great modern twist on a vintage style trend. When we saw this dot pattern by Sweet Pea it reminded us of a pattern found less frequently today…the polka dot pattern. We really like polka dots and while they can sometimes be overdone, we wish we saw them more often in modern styles.

This Sweet Pea dot pattern is unique with its different size dots on vines or branches in either a black, white, lime green and purple color scheme or in a navy, white, red and pink color scheme. We love the contrasting colors and in particular love the line green mixed in with the purple and white. Shown to the left in the Sweet Pea Hoop Dolman top, this style features lime green lining that you can see peeking out at the bottom. Don’t miss this pattern in Sweet Pea’s long sleeve drawstring empire waist top too.

When we saw this picture of Grace Kelly wearing this elegant patterned top, at first it reminded us of a Sweet Pea top. Sweet Pea Apparel is an amazing designer and we love their vintage style. In particular we love the unique prints that make their tops so distinctive and the combination of unique styles that make all of Sweet Pea’s tops look non-traditional, but elegant at the same time.

Then as we looked at this picture a little longer we thought it also reminded us of an AlixK top. With AlixK’s signature handmade embroidery on each of its tops in patterns similar to that seen on Grace’s top, we couldn’t help but draw a comparison.

When we wrote this entry we were torn as to which designer clothing item this reminded us of more. Sweet Pea or AlixK? And we couldn’t pick just one. So in honor of the democratic country in which we live, we decided we would leave it up to the popular vote and let you decide.
Either way, we are pleased that at a minimum this Grace Kelly top just serves to remind us that much of Vintage Style truly is timeless.

Vintage style is one of our central focuses at Vintage Fringe. We try to find vintage style clothing when we search for designers and then within their lines. Today two of our favorite vintage style tops are from Sweet Pea whose awesome tops are all extremely comfortable and made in such adorable styles. Their patterns are all completely unique from month to month. The first top that we think embodies that ultimate vintage style is the Multi-Color Bohemian Tunic top. We love the variety of colors, the empire waist and the contrasting brown trim.
