Fabulous New Looks from Sweet Pea

Monday, June 28th, 2010

I have always been a fan of Sweet Pea Clothing, the light weight chic designs are perfect for summer. Vintage Fringe has some great fashionable items from them and I just have to share them. First, is this perfect for every body type little black Wrap Dress. I love the faux wrap design, and the deep v neck is elongating and therefore flattering. Black is the perfect backdrop for all types of bright and bold summer accessories, go nuts with shoes, bags, bangles, necklaces and this dress can look different every time you wear it!

Ok, so this next top has two things that the dress above has as well, a faux wrap and a v-neck. When something works, stick with it! The Surplice with Flower Top is ultra flattering and the flower detail is oh so cute! The would be perfect with jeans, skirts, shorts, just about anything and again the basic color is a great bast for fun and funky accessories.

The last top I want to highlight has a very cute print and with gathered sides, is again ultra flattering. The Combo Lined Gathered Top by Sweet Pea has a black under layer, with a white layer on top. I love the loose sleeves, perfect for warmer weather.

Trend Alert: Pattern

Monday, April 26th, 2010

In fashion, color, pattern, and texture are all a part of the current trend and this spring we are seeing more and more pattern. Some big, some small, but pattern and lots of it. There is anything from floral, to the newer watery effect dresses that many celebrities have recently been spotted wearing. If you are someone who sticks to the basic solids, now is the time to dip your toe into the fun world of pattern. Something that is not too scary to try is black and white pattern, I really like the leafy almost damask print of this Belted Ruffle Top from Sweet Peaby Staci Frati. Just having pattern on top draws the eye up to your face and the flattering built in belt really creates or accentuates curves.

If you are feeling a bit more bold, try an all over pattern. This Chapel Dress by Velvet has a gorgeous pattern that isn’t too overwhelming and comes in two different color combinations that are both flattering, either black and white or red and white.

No matter what your pattern style may be, remember my number one rule: if you aren’t comfortable and confidant in what you are wearing, it won’t look good. So make choices that work for you and not the model in the picture. Now tell me, are you an all over pattern the more the merry type of gal, or a small hits of pattern here and there type of gal?? Me, it depends on my mood!

All about Shoulders and Sleeves!

Monday, February 15th, 2010
Bold shoulders and sleeves have been all over the runways, magazines, and celebrities this year. And for good reason, the updated version of the 1980’s shoulder pad trend is classy and accentuates{or tricks the eye to see} a small waist, it creates beautiful curves.  I love fashion, however it is just not practical for me to wear some of the more extreme sleeve and shoulder styles that celebrities have been spotted wearing{did you see Rihanna’s or Fergie’s spiked shoulders?}. So, for those of us with less red carpet events and more grocery carts in our lives, here are some cute ways to incorporate the bold shoulder and sleeve trend into your closet.
I love the vibrant color of this Scoop Neck top by Splendid, and the puffy, puckered sleeve really draws attention to the shoulder/sleeve area. There are so many great details in this top, and if you wanted create more curves, I think it would look fabulous belted.

The beautiful black and white damask print pattern on this short sleeve Deconstructed V Neck by Sweet Pea really draws the eye up and the double layer sleeve creates a more dramatic and bold shoulder.

Make sure to look for details in your tops, they will always draw the eye to it and if those details happen to fall on the sleeve or shoulder, they will accentuate that area. So what do you think, to spike or not to spike?? {Are Rihanna and Fergie completely mad or completely awesome??} Tell me what you think!

Sweet Pea Tops are Always on Top of Fashion

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Sweet Pea by Stacy Frati is always on top of fashion and this season’s tops here at Vintage Fringe are no exception!  A perfect example is Sweet Pea’s Belted Ruffle Top.  This top is a classic example of Sweet Pea’s patterned shirts that are feminine and soft.  This shirt also combines some of this season’s hottest fashion trends with its ruffle neckline and accent belt.  Best of all the belt is patterned on one side and contrasted in pink on the other, so you can pull off two completely different looks with one shirt.

Best of all this shirt’s navy and ivory pattern is perfect for spring!  Another trendy top / dress by Sweet Pea that we absolutely love is the Tie Short Dress.  This Tie Short dress features Sweet Pea Clothing’s famous Joplin brown and pink pattern with a solid brown panel along the front.  This dress is fabulous with leggings, and the side ties allows for a perfect and fashionable fit.

These two looks are perfect illustrations of why Sweet Pea Tops and Sweet Pea Dresses are so feminine and these feminine details combined with comfortable, wearable fabrics are always in fashion!
