Little Spring Dresses

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Sunshine, blue skies, flowers, and spring dresses! Welcome to March! With warmer weather on the horizon, I am drawn to cute little dresses that just be thrown on. These dresses look good with boots, cardigans, or over a swimsuit whatever your weather might be. This Splendid Modal Jersey V Neckdress is perfect for spring and is very versatile, belts, necklaces, sweaters, jackets, boots and sandals can all change this dress and make it a work horse for your closet.

I think most women are always searching for the perfect little black dress and this Ella Moss Abigail Ruffle Front V Neck Dress totally fits the bill. It has gorgeous details, an ultra flattering cut, and the ‘of the moment’ ruffle-love it all!

One other dress that I love, is this Velvet by Graham and Spencer Olka 3/4 Sleeve Dress. The neutral brown color would look great with a pop of color accessories like pink, blue, or maybe even some animal print! Another great spring versatile dress that can be ‘winterized’ with boots and a jacket, or ’summerized’ with sandals and sunglasses!

Ella Moss and Velvet Go Neutral

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Nude colors just aren’t for your bras and underwear anymore.  Neutrals, buffs, and nudes are all over the place this spring.  For many of you fair fashionistas a nude color palette may be something you think is not at all flattering for your fair complexion.  So here are a few of my suggestions on how to wear nude and not  get washed out.

Velvet's Freda Gathered Dress in Fog

Instead of matching your new wardrobe with your foundation colors instead look to incorporate subtle neutrals to your wardrobe.  For those especially fair ladies  make sure you pick a neutral hue that doesn’t bring out the yellow undertones in your skin.  A perfect example of this is Velvet’s  Freda Gathered dress in the “fog” color.  This very neutral almost lavender color is great for the fair ladies who can get easily washed out in other colors.  This fog color introduced by Velvet will highlight the pinks in your skin tone.  I also really love how this neutral color with a hint of gray really makes the model’s blue eyes pop.

To follow the fashion trend of nudes and neutrals you don’t always have to wear all nude.  This cute nude and white striped shirt by Ella Moss is adorable and allows you to accessorize with bold colors which is oh so perfect for spring.  I love how Ella Moss added a neutral stripe to this puffsleeve front tie top which adds a bit a flair to an already trendy top.  This top also has elastic in the sleeves and the waist which gives you a perfectly tailored look.

These designer looks are sure be strong this spring, and don’t forget at Vintage Fringe you can always shop by color or designer.

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart Black and White Dress

In this Fashion Trend Alert, we’ve noticed that celebrities everywhere have graced red carpets and late night clubs with a modern twist on the classic “little black dress“.  High contrast print dresses in black and white are popping up everywhere on everyone.  From Pamela Anderson to Blake Lively or Kristen Stewart the black and white dress is definitely a must have this season.  What we at Vintage Fringe love about the black and white combo is it’s extreme versatility and classic style.  Glam up your look with colorful jewelry or shoes (red or yellow would be adorable) to make it your own unique style.  Here at Vintage Fringe we love the Chapel Dress by Velvet.

The sleeves are just long enough that this dress can easily be worn in summer with heels or in the fall with your favorite black boots. We also love how the V-neck gives you a perfect neckline to add a chunky or dangly necklace.

In short, I could wear this dress in so many ways with so many shoes and bags I already have, and the look is so classic I will be wearing this dress for many seasons to come! Check it out today at Vintage Fringe.

Velvet Brand Dresses

Monday, December 29th, 2008

We love Velvet by Graham and Spencer and one of our must have recommendations to start out the new year is this amazing Chapel dress by Velvet.  Part of Velvet brand’s Spanish Tile collection, this rayon blend dress is ultra comfortable.  A truly versatile piece that looks hot with your black boots in the winter and perfect with your open toed shoes in the summer.

This Velvet brand dress has elbow length sleeves and features a v neck with a knot at the base of the v giving it an added element of “fringe.”  We love the pattern too as it isn’t overbearing and instead is bold enough to get noticed, but not over the top making it too much of a fad.  This dress by Velvet by Graham and Spencer will certainly be one that can be part of your wardrobe for multiple seasons.  In terms of length, it hits just at or below the knee depending on your body type.  Shown here in black this dress is also available at Vintage Fringe in red.

Vintage Style at Velvet

Velvet by Graham and Spencer is the topic of our latest vintage style observation.  One of our favorite pieces is this Velvet brand Olka dress featuring a V neck empire waist with pleats accented with a bow at the base of the V.  The 3/4 sleeves also make this great to wear in just about every season.

We love the baby jersey fabric in a mushroom (light brown) color.  What we especially love about the dress is its vintage style.   This Olka dress reminds us of a dress worn by Ginger Rogers pictured below.  The Velvet version features a few distinctions with the bow and the wider V versus the wrap V.   Shown here with heels, we think that the modern fashionista could easily rock this dress with boots too.

We love that about Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  All of their designs have that vintage style combined with great fabrics that make them versatile, stylish and comfortable all at the same time.  We love their feminine touches such as the bow and the pleats.  We’re sure that you’ll love the style of this dress as much as we do!
