What to wear on Valentine’s day

Monday, January 25th, 2010
Dresses, and skirts, and shoes, oh my! Deciding what to wear for a special occasion, lets just say Valentine’s Day, can be tricky. But look no further ladies, I’ve got the advice and looks for a sure fire hit for V-Day 2010.  No matter if you are doing a fancy dinner out or a cozy night in, we all want to look our best for cupid, that special someone, or just your self! The first look is the ever popular dress. Dresses can be very flattering and a bit more dressed up then normal day to day wear. I suggest going with a pattern, maybe something you wouldn’t normally wear.  This gorgeous dress by Velvet by Graham and Spencer fits the bill and will surely turn a head or two when worn.  It is also available in Red/White which would be perfect for Valentine’s Day!

The second look is more casual, a simple cardigan and jeans. Cardigans are always a classic look and I just adore the cute heart detail on this one.  It could easily be dressed up with skinny jeans and some killer heels or kept casual as shown.

Whatever your plans are, remember this: No outfit looks sexy if you are uncomfortable with yourself in it! Choose something that you feel confident in and you will look your best, because you feel your best.  So what are your V-Day plans, going out or staying in?? Me, I think a cozy night in will be perfect for this year…I’ll be the one in the cute cardigan and jeans!

Fashionable Essentials for Fall: The Turtleneck

Zooey Turtleneck and Velvet Lucca Top

Zooey Turtleneck and Velvet Lucca Top

Another essential fall fashion this season is the turtleneck.  In terms of necklines the  turtleneck is one of my favorites.  First of all, turtlenecks are universally flattering because they elongate your neck and place the focus onto your face.  I also love how extremely versatile turtlenecks are.  Wear a turtleneck with a suit, with a vest, with a skirt, with pants, or your favorite pair of jeans.  Wear a chunky necklace or wear your favorite scarf, with a turtleneck almost anything goes.  My absolute favorite turtleneck is the classic long sleeve turtleneck by Zooey.  Perfect for layering, this top is shown here under the Velvet by Graham and Spencer Lucca tunic top in Drift. This turtleneck is made of supima cotton which is seriously one of the softest cottons I have ever worn.  This turtleneck is simple, but perfect in every way.  The length falls below the waist, the turtleneck itself is loose and soft so it doesn’t feel to tight around your neck or uncomfortable.  This Zooey turtleneck comes in ten different colors, is machine washable, and is currently 50% off in our Vintage Fringe Outlet so hurry to Vintage Fringe and pick up your fall essentials now.

Kristen Stewart Black and White Dress

In this Fashion Trend Alert, we’ve noticed that celebrities everywhere have graced red carpets and late night clubs with a modern twist on the classic “little black dress“.  High contrast print dresses in black and white are popping up everywhere on everyone.  From Pamela Anderson to Blake Lively or Kristen Stewart the black and white dress is definitely a must have this season.  What we at Vintage Fringe love about the black and white combo is it’s extreme versatility and classic style.  Glam up your look with colorful jewelry or shoes (red or yellow would be adorable) to make it your own unique style.  Here at Vintage Fringe we love the Chapel Dress by Velvet.

The sleeves are just long enough that this dress can easily be worn in summer with heels or in the fall with your favorite black boots. We also love how the V-neck gives you a perfect neckline to add a chunky or dangly necklace.

Velvet Brand Dresses

Monday, December 29th, 2008

We love Velvet by Graham and Spencer and one of our must have recommendations to start out the new year is this amazing Chapel dress by Velvet.  Part of Velvet brand’s Spanish Tile collection, this rayon blend dress is ultra comfortable.  A truly versatile piece that looks hot with your black boots in the winter and perfect with your open toed shoes in the summer.

This Velvet brand dress has elbow length sleeves and features a v neck with a knot at the base of the v giving it an added element of “fringe.”  We love the pattern too as it isn’t overbearing and instead is bold enough to get noticed, but not over the top making it too much of a fad.  This dress by Velvet by Graham and Spencer will certainly be one that can be part of your wardrobe for multiple seasons.  In terms of length, it hits just at or below the knee depending on your body type.  Shown here in black this dress is also available at Vintage Fringe in red.
