We also want to highlight one of our favorite pieces that is a bit of a throw back to the good fashion trends from the eighties with the patches on the sleeves.

Zooey Satin Patch Long Sleeve Top

Zooey Satin Patch Long Sleeve Top

You’ve likely seen the resurgent trend with patches on the sleeves of jackets, tops and sweaters, but here’s one that in our view takes the cake.  This Satin Patch Long Sleeve top by Zooey is a great combination of vintage style and fringe.  This soft long sleeve top is so comfortable, but what we really love is that it goes a step beyond and makes a statement with the contrasting yellow patches.  The perfect top for the individual in all of us.  It is one of our favorites from Zooey.  Did we mention it is also on sale!  Be sure and get yours today.

Don’t forget the 25% off every order ends on Friday, Oct. 31!

Vintage Style Trends

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

While vintage style clothing is of course based on vintage fashions, in our focus to find women’s clothing that is vintage inspired, but also new and never worn, we attend markets to purchase these new vintage style items.  Our latest market was last week and we wanted to let you know what to expect this spring in the upcoming vintage style trends.  First, bold colors.  Orange is very popular this year and so are blues and yellows.  Second, long dresses are all the rage.  Every line we viewed had many long dresses to remind us of the classic Whitney Houston dress in the 80s.  We picked up a few in our purchases, so you’ll have to be sure and check them out.  Next,  tunic length tops are very popular.  We love tunics so we found several tunic length tops at Sweet Pea.  We hope you will love them as much as we do.

In short, we’re sure you will love our new items from our existing designers new collection of organic cotton Zooey tees, our tunics in bold patterns from Sweet Pea, and our spring colors from AlixK, our spring dresses from Zooey, Velvet, Splendid, and Ella Moss (coming soon to Vintage Fringe). We’re also betting that you’ll love the new stuff we have right around the corner too.  New lines, new colors and new styles!

Vintage Style with Boots

Nothing complements vintage style better than boots.  It’s that time of year where boots become a wardrobe staple.  While we don’t yet sell boots at Vintage Fringe, we do have several tops that would be fabulous with boots.  Starting with The Frock from Laurie B., we love this tunic length sweater that can also be a dress if you have that perfect body.

Available in Bark (Taupe) and Plum (Aubergine) both of these tops would be great with your basic black or brown boots.  Boots will absolutely rock this sweater.

Another bootworthy top/dress is the Orange and Black Empire Waist dress by Sweet Pea.  This dress can really be worn almost any time of year, but for fall/winter this dress would be absolutely perfect with boots.

The empire waist gives it that added level of femininity and with boots and the vivid colors and pattern, this dress is sure to make a bold statement.

Another perfect combination with boots are any of our Long Sleeve Crew Tunic length tops by Zooey.

They have a great, long length and would look ultra hip and stylish with boots.  This top is available as shown in Grey (Dungeon), Brown (Ebony), Navy Blue (Midnight), Black, Magnolia (Yellow) and of course White.

Let’s be honest, each of these tops will help give you a unique look as they are, but we think they would be fabulous with boots too.

Garbo Vintage Style

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

In our vintage style quest to find clothing that has a bit of flair while also incorporating a bit of vintage style, today we are highlighting a piece that we think would have been the perfect fit for Greta Garbo in “Grand Hotel.”

Garbo's Vintage Style

We love the flowing top and think that today’s modern version would have even Greta smiling.  The modern version is made by Zooey which means that of course it feels luxurious enough that even Greta would approve.  Made with supima cotton and a contrasting voile fabric, this Pintuck Empire top creates the ultimate vintage look.

The collar is really a modified mandarin collar which is connected by two accent buttons.  With 3/4 length sleeves and the voile fabric that flares on the sleeves, this top is sure to be a favorite.  While the top is loose at the bottom, it still provides a fitted look because of the empire waist.

Zooey by Alice Heller is a great brand with fashions ranging from basics to extravagance, but even the basics are made of supima cottons so they feel far from basic.   Zooey quickly became a staple in our wardrobes for every season.   We love all of Zooey’s designs and this Pintuck Empire is no exception.  We would be crazy not to mention that this top is currently on sale for $70 at Vintage Fringe.  Get your’s today while they’re still available.
